Avatar f tn I just got a Siamese cat and ever since i've gotten her i've had headaches. sometimes i forget about them then they come back every so often, no other symptoms. I would like to know if keeping her around getting these random headaches every so often is dangerous for me in the long run.. or if I can stand the symptoms then I can keep her around... is this a problem that will become serious or can I just keep her around? Please reply.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki...I had a Siamese cat that did the same thing (licking until she was bald) several years ago. She ended up having fleas! We couldn't tell she had fleas because she was so good at catching the fleas when they bit her. But, the obvious reaction of continually licking, grooming, and hair barbering showed that she was still being irritated by them. We ended up finding the fleas on another one of our cats and after treating everyone appropriate, she stopped the excessive grooming.
Avatar n tn When I had a Siamese that had this issue, the only thing my vet gave me to give to her was the steroid medication, Prednisone. He also gave her Reglan from time to time. I believe the vet had tried Flagyl a couple of times, too. I would ask the vet if Prednisone or Prednisolone will help. Only, make sure kitty has nausea medication, too. I've taken Prednisone myself, so I know it can cause nausea.
Avatar n tn I agree that this is completely normal. This happens with dalmatian dogs, too. They are usually born all white. The spots start coming in as the puppies get older. All this talk reminds me of my previous cat. I never saw her as a kitten, but she sure was a cute red point Siamese mix.
Avatar f tn Is this a new behavior or has she always done this? I think I would first take her to the vet and get her checked out to make sure she doesn't have a UTI or anything. Sometimes it's hard to tell. I couldn't tell with my cat when she'd get one except that she'd go outside her box. I'd do that first and if that all checks out then it looks like it's probably behavioral, which could be more difficult to stop. Try and think if anything new has happened in the house.
740516 tn?1360942486 Forty yrs ago I had a purebred siamese cat that was bred to another purebred siamese and 4 of the six kittens had tails like that, so I think its not that unusual in that breed. I've had lots of cats but none of the others had tails like that, so it had to be in the genes.
306594 tn?1443387857 They are extremely smart. Siamese cats are very talkative. I had a siamese cat for 20 1/2 years. When we first got him from the animal shelter, he ran through the house meowing, howling and climbing curtains. He was so naughty. Mom took him to the vet and the vet said neuter him. It didn't help. He was full of energy and grew up to be a huge cat of 17 pounds, no fat. Running through the house howling sounds like a Siamese.
795866 tn?1272168354 m new to this website i only joined a few days ago but i like love this site it helps me with my anxiety and such but away my question is, i have a female siamese cat, she is mixed with something else too, she is still kind of a kitten and she loves to play and she loves when you scratch her neck and she is loving to everyone but she never i mean NEVER lets anyone pick her up. And i was wondering if its because she is siamese or if she just doesn't like being picked?
1670571 tn?1303706040 s normal for a Siamese/Egyptian Mau to have red pupils. Possible Houdini has some Siamese in him? I also came across someone with a creme colored cat who's pupils turn red. Since your kitty has been to the vet and there is no concern on your vets part, it appears to be normal. With the Siamese, it doesn't appear to *mean* anything, but just the way they are.
Avatar f tn My Siamese cat normally meows. Yesterday we could barely hear him, like he has laryngitis. What's wrong with him?
Avatar f tn Ihave a Chocolate Point Siamese male cat, now 3 years old he also had a sister she was knocked by a car, I grieved a lot. I find my cat very intelligent, a bit fussy about food likes one thing one day and not the next. Loves being cuddled. He makes lots of noise meeowing around the place loudly. Will be obvious if he does not like someone visiting me, but gets on with people who treat him as a human.
Avatar n tn Interestingly...all Siamese cats do tend to darken with age across their whole body. I have seen it happen with every single one of mine (granted, that number is only 4, but still....). That's why these guys tend to have short show careers and then only as youngsters. Mink is a color that is normally reserved for describing Tonkinese cats, which are another one of my favorites.
Avatar f tn What a beautiful cat! I love Siamese cats! He is absolutely gorgeous! As for the claws, I've heard Pedi Paws advertised a lot. It seems like a good product. Have you ever heard of it? It might be worth a try.
1760800 tn?1406753451 As we all know muscle twitches, spasms and jerks are a part of this fun ride we are all on. I have gotten used to them and mine usually only last a few seconds and rarely wake me up. Well Monday early morning I had twitches in my left leg that would not go away and woke me up. My first thought was okay what is this and why won't it stop. I reached down to rub my leg to see if it would stop and it wasn't a muscle twitch. IT WAS MY SIAMESE CAT KNEADING MY LEG TO GET COMFORTABLE!
Avatar f tn m not exagerating, Nothing. No tuna, wet cat food. All he eats is dry cat food and plastic. And he will not drink water out of a bowl. We have to let it run in the bathroom sink. He only drinks running water. But my question is, Why does he eat plastic???? He has done it since he was a little bitty kitten.
Avatar m tn For example, I have a cat that is half Siamese. He LOOKS like a purebred Siamese but for the fact that he has a white chin, bib, stomach and white feet. The rest of him, however, resembles a very handsome (if gigantic, he's 23 pounds!) seal point Siamese. Well, we also have a female who, to the best of our knowledge, is what I usually refer to as a $.29 cat. Her only special feature is that she is a polydactyl with fully functional jointed thumbs.
Avatar f tn Hello. I am AmelieM. I had my siamese cat for 12 years now. she does not like my friends sharing my attention especially the males. she does not like us living with my husband. She only comes out when he goes to bed and she is very dipressed. My husband and all my friends love her but she only wants me. I even thought of moving to another apartment in the same building. has anyone experience a jelous pet before? and what to do?
740516 tn?1360942486 I groomed and kissed my cat today. She's not black though. I had a black cat once A Bon chat. She delivered a Siamese & three black cats before I had her fixed. I kept the Siamese. He was smart. I called him Lil Slick. So much love from cats!! Love em all!
1388972 tn?1280132569 My lovely little Siamese kitten has this weird lump in his belly. Its just below the middle of his rib’s & it pops back in so you can’t feel it. I have heard about “floating ribs” but just wanted to make sure that it is that. It doesn’t cause him any pain & has perfect health... Please someone let me know what they think?
1673038 tn?1304297036 We have a 12 year old flame point siamese cat. He is normally happy, outgoing, hungry, playful, sociable and loves attention. For the past four days or so he hasn't been himself. He doesn't seem to eat much, he doesn't wanna be touched, he is hiding under beds. He is a really clean cat too, and he wont clean himself he has poop and litter all over him. We have been doing a downstairs remodel and he likes to hide in the basement sometimes.
1035252 tn?1427227833 We just brought home our new siamese mix last weekend....and she's been living in our couch. We have a reclining couch and the back and seat cushions have a sling of fabric between them, and she's been staying in there. It took several days before we could even get her to eat...although yesterday she ate 3 bowls of food as well as a half a bowl of ham....but my question is this...how long before she adjusts? i know every cat is different I"m just wondering IF she will adjust...
Avatar m tn lately my cat has been peeing around the house. we just switched cat litter and it was suggested to us that he probably doesn't like it. tonight i noticed dried blood on his anus. he is eating and drinking normally, has had all his shots and is strictly an indoor cat. he is a ragdoll-siamese mix. he isn't exhibiting any other weird behaviors.
Avatar m tn Does the cat have Siamese ancestry? Siamese are kind of noted for pica, peculiar appetites. I saw a picture of a Siamese licking photographic emulsion off a glossy photo one time.
