1836925 tn?1318362273 Thanks so much for the info. I have made an appt. with the vet for next week and will let you know what happens. Her eating habits haven't changed and she is behaving normally. She's a very feisty cat, unlike Persians and can be difficult when it comes to grooming etc. Hopefully if she needs meds , she won't put up a lot of resistance!
1389663 tn?1298705421 I wonder if the neighbor cat has a similar personality to Joey with a more extreme possessiveness or need to be the only cat? Joey is alright as long as the Persians smell normal. Are Jade and the neighbor cat doing alright? Opus88 was absolutely right, Joey just doesn't handle stressful situations well. He doesn't hiss at my parents at all any more, although he does become alarmed when he "plays" himself into a frenzy.
Avatar f tn I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.
1153085 tn?1341301893 she scratches herself most of the time..is it that she goes out quite often and get disease with other stray cat or anything else??
1424545 tn?1282940300 my 1year old cat had pink eye when we ffound him, took him to the vet, cleared that up but even now he still has a red colored discharge from his eyes and constant runny nose. Im not sure what to do. he doesnt seem bothered by ir but im just not sure if its serious or not.
Avatar n tn I rescued my 10 month old DSH Tabby cat 6 months ago. I have noticed that he snores when he sleeps. I've read on other websites that is normal. I have also noticed that sometimes when he is sprawled out and laying on his side the hind leg that is nearest to (being laid on) the ground shakes. Is this normal? I'm concerned, should I be?
Avatar n tn I had a short hair cat who was called Slate since he was a slate grey color. As he got older if you saw him in a certain light he would actually look brown around his sides and back area. I thought at first it was because he was probably outside rolling around in the dirt. But I tried brushing the "dirt" off and that wasn't it. I never knew why but just chalked it up to his getting older and since he was already "grey" he turned brown instead.. LOL.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
298824 tn?1349955177 There is a corona titer test but that will just test for exposure to corona virus not tell you if the cat has FIP. Corona virus is not uncommon in cats and is seen more in multi-cat households such as a cattery. The virus mutates within the individual cat to cause FIP. There may be some genetic predisposition to a cat developing FIP. But FIP as a disease is not spread between cats. I hope that makes sense.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn s vomiting. You have to brush your cat a lot. If you do not brush your cat daily, your cat will keep throwing up. Gotta help the little one. Also, I would add fiber to his diet. Fiber is key to prevent hairballs. Fiber takes out anything the body cannot make use of, and so it comes out in the stool, in the litter box, not on the floow through your cat's mouth. That's what I do to prevent hairballs in both my cats and it has worked so far. I see a lot of hair in the stool every day.
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar m tn Hi All - I am new to the forum. I was just searching online to get some info on my furbaby and stumbled on this site. I'm at wits end and looking for any advice or similar experiences. My cat has battled Ringworm on and off since I've had him, which has been about 6 years. Needless to say I have battled it right along with him! I have always been able to keep it under control with giving him the anti-fungal baths, but this last episode has me worried.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar n tn I have a persian/himilayan cat and it seems she always has a discharge from her eyes--mostly when she sleeps. Is it a common condition of himilayan cats? I have taken her to the vet and have medicine for her eyes but she still wakes up with black goop around her eyes. I wash it off with a moist cloth and that also inspires her to do some cleaning herself.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar m tn Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
7165624 tn?1395647767 I have allergies im wondering if i can buy certain pills or what do you do when u get them??
Avatar m tn ve had an allergy test this is why you know that you are have animal dander allergies. Do you have a dog, cat , bunny or hamster as a pet ? Just wondering. Be well.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
Avatar f tn Allergies have a genetic basis but not always to the same allergen. Two parents with allergies (50% chance of developing allergies), one parent 30%. It is possible that it is an allergy, however make sure the cat wasn't bathed with anything, I reacted with hives once to the shampoo I used on a puppy at work.
