Avatar m tn Did you injure your nose, or is it swollen perhaps because of allergies or congestion? I ask because the dark circle under you eye can be from trauma or can be from allergies. They are called allergic shiners. If the swelling is putting pressure inside your nose it can give you a headache and/or earache. What nasal spray did he give you? But to answer you question, yes your symptoms can be because of the swelling in your nose.
Avatar n tn I am a 16 year old male. I have suffered from nasal congestion and post-nasal drip for 3 years. During those years, I thought it was mad weird, only one side of my nose worked and NEVER (rarely) both work at the same time. The problem alternated because sometimes one side would relax and it would switch to the other side. So basically, I've been living with this for 3 years or so. I decided to go the doctor, a nose specialist, I think.
Avatar f tn i have really bad allergies to cat, dust, mytes, indoor allergies...... so my question is.. do i have to build up the allegra into my system for it to really work... i just found out i have had them for eight years.. so im sure my immune system is messed up since i never treated it.. i didnt know what i had....
Avatar n tn My Dr recommended saline nasal spray.
Avatar f tn You also might be able to find a cough suppressant OTC that is aimed directly at coughing due to post nasal drip. The allergies are so bad this year, I would bet that is what is causing your problems. I was told that doctors have seen more cases of seasonal allergies and sinus infections this year alone than they have in the last 5 years. that should tell you something.
Avatar f tn m thinking it turned into rebound congestion. Some days I have 0 congestion and some days I have some. Recently I started to cut down on the afrin (I went from twice a day to once a day) and I'm using Flonase. I don't have terrible congestion, but enough to bug me. I'm managing though. Recently I looked inside my nose and saw that it was red on the left side along my nasal wall.
3455166 tn?1347507133 I have nasal congestion problems most of the year, so if it is an allergy for me it must be season independent, or I have several allergies...I have never been tested for allergies. My problem is usually at night, but it sometimes comes on when I am just sitting and not doing much physical, like watching TV or on my notebook, like now.. I find nose sprays like the popular 12 hour don't use all the time, work very well, thus I conclude my nasal membranes are swollen from some stimulant.
Avatar n tn I don't know if my allergies are "acting up." I think an immunologist is my next stop. I had a skin test about 4 years ago that showed I was sensitive to numerous California grasses and trees. But I think the more likely problem is SoCal smog, and this point. For the last 3 years or so I've noticed my voice getting progressively nasal -- my allergist thought I had allergic rhinitis and put me on steroid nasal spray.
Avatar f tn Do not use any other nasal spray. If your nose starts running excessively move to an OTC non-drowsy tablet for nasal congestion and take only one tablet a day.
Avatar n tn Some allergen exposure control methods are to clean very well daily (vacuum, sweep, dust), keep the cat out of your bedroom, wash your hands after playing with the cat, and shower before bed. If you can train the cat to tolerate a bath that would be beneficial as well. Otherwise you could try wiping its coat with a damp cloth regulary. There are ways to live with pet allergies and keep the pet.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn I am currently 14 weeks 6 days along in my pregnancy and have been suffering from a combination of allergies and nasal congestion for over 3 weeks. Benadryl helps with my allergy symptoms but does not alleviate my congestion. I have tried a neti pot, breathing strips and humidifier with none working. My doctor has an approved list of decongestants such as Sudafed but could not tell me if it was safe over prolonged use. They just said to follow the directions on the box.
1206168 tn?1280367231 This question is very hard for me to ask, because i put myself in an awkward position. I have had my cat for many years and have no allergies to her. I have seen a couple doctor's over a month for symptoms of swollen lymph nodes on/off (always present) , numb throat, ringing of the ears, and my brian felt like it was swelling largly at one time. All these symptoms look as if i have a major sinus infection. I have taken amoxicillin, z pak, nasal sprays, and ibuprofen.

Avatar n tn If anyone has any insight on my issue, it would be incredibly appreciated. First let me explain that I have allergies, but that they're kept under control by antihistamines and nasal steroids, and really never bother me, aside from the fact that I'm often a bit congested (but rarely itchy or sneezy).
Avatar f tn 2) Acid reflux - acid can reflux up into the sinuses and the back of the throat causing nasal congestion, sinus infections, asthma like symptoms, chronic cough and a host of other things. This is definitely worth investigating. There are a lot of life style changes that can be made to help control this. Start by elevating the head of her bed about 6 inches it see if that helps any. 3) Have her adenoids been checked thoroughly?
548980 tn?1214822412 m sorry to hear about your constant sinus congestion, dizziness, allergies and the anxiety it is causing you.Have you completed your antibiotic treatment for the ear infection? It is common to feel the vertigo, congestion and clogged ears in this kind of infection. It is good that you are gong to a specialist for balance testing to eliminate other causes. The best way to prevent your allergies is to prevent the triggers,in your case, cats and dustmites.
Avatar m tn A couple of months ago my fiance and I got a cat, the first day I had an allergic reaction immediately, red eyes, sneezing and nasal congestion.
Avatar m tn All natural and it helps clear the congestion. So does breathing steam, so if you put your cat in the bathroom, plug in the Gentle Vapors and run the shower hot and let your cat rest in there for a while. I have found that it can really help. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar f tn Okay so I'm 11 weeks and my nasal congestion/allergies have never been worse! Any one have this problem? Maybe found a solution? I'm getting married in 18 days and would really like it if I was sneezing throughout the ceremony!!!
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis and the sneezing and congestion happens mostly when I am ready for bed, or comes on suddenly during the night. At times I wake up because I am about to sneeze. I had a CAT scan, and my ENT doctor said my sinuses were inflamed. He gave me a 5 day steriod treatment and said he could only do it a couple times a year. I felt great for 3 weeks, now it's back to being as is was prior to the treatment.
Avatar n tn However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a saline nasal spray or a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids. Corticosteroids work by helping to reduce inflammation and congestion. The golden rule for chronic stuffy nose is steam inhalation. Inhaling steam from a bowl of hot (but not boiling water) may help to soften, and loosen, the build up of mucus in your nose.
