cat allergies medications

I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.

The daugher with the issues just turned 2, was diagnosed with asthma about 6-8 months ago (does breathing treatments regularly with Albuteral). She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean.

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

Only a skin test (that tests for cat allergy) will rule out for sure whether it is cat allergy or not. If it is cat allergy, then if you do not take anti-allergic pills, the symptoms will resurface time and again. You can again start the medications (after consulting a doctor) to see if your symptoms subside. Also, you could live away from the cat for a day or two and see if your symptoms improve. However, it would be best to consult a doctor who can examine you.

Having several allergies, including many outdoors one (trees, grass, mold, and oas resulting) as well as some food allergies, and also pet allergies, i finally went to see an allergist earlier this year. He prescribed veramist for my seasonal allergies and suggested that i take a combination of NASALCROM(nasal), PATADAY(eyes), and intol (chest), ten minutes before entering a home with cats. Initially i saw great results with no allergies for about 3 or 4 hours.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

My dog had her blood work tested for allergies and is currently having shots now for almost a year. Her stomach is breaking out so bad now and her skin on her stomach has got so thin from all the Cortizone sprays, injections etc.. Our vet has takin her off all Cortizone do to skin thinning out. Do you know of any other product we can use instead of Cortizone. "Jersey" our dog is always licking and not resting much because of this.

Some allergen exposure control methods are to clean very well daily (vacuum, sweep, dust), keep the cat out of your bedroom, wash your hands after playing with the cat, and shower before bed. If you can train the cat to tolerate a bath that would be beneficial as well. Otherwise you could try wiping its coat with a damp cloth regulary. There are ways to live with pet allergies and keep the pet.

My cat has allergies that cause skin breakouts, I've done the steroid route and this works for awhile, now using a change in food and omega 3's and so far he has only had one small breakout that lasted only 2 days and didn't go on to become open and raw sores. My question is, I've read that sometimes benadryl at .25mg per pound can be successful in cats. Is this also avail in topical form rather than using systemically?

t do anything physical to bring these on. I am in a house with a cat, and my allergies have been absolutely terrible, but other than that, nothing else I could think of. If it is truly behavioral, there are excellent behavioral modification medications that should help. If it is allergies, prednisolone, Atopica, and/or a special hypoallergenic diet may help. The significance of the lamp may be due to the fact that he feels safe away from the other cats on your desk, or he requires the heat from the lamp. There is a pecking order in any multi-cat household and if he is lower on the pecking order there may be an alpha cat who is bullying him.

sensitive commonly to a preservative or ingredient in dry kibble type food. grain allergies are common in cats and most cat foods are full of unnecessary grains just b/c they are 'cheap' fillers for the manufacturer, they do absolutely nothing for the diet!!! there are some 'grain free' diets on the market that may be a worth a trial. EVO, Wellness and Natures Variety are a few. cats can also suffer from environmental allergies....such as what you decide with your kitty.....

I have been having severe migrains since feb of this year. Im 23 and in pretty good health besides having asthma. They started out coming every couple days then every other day the headache became permanent. It lasts everyday all day. Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
