Avatar f tn She offered to give anti-depressants for the cat if it was OCD, depression or some or mental health pet problem, but at the price i have not. I will keep it in my back pocket for last resorts.
362249 tn?1441315018 Thats a really great idea I should ask! I dont feel my allergies are severe my SIL has had cats in her house and my allergies were not "killing me" where i couldnt stand it! sometimes i feel the need to get up and wash my hands but nothing too bad!! I do think if I follow the advice online about vacuuming my carpet and maybe getting a humidifier then i would be ok! they say its the dander released into the air that gets you!
Avatar f tn I mean allergies in general. And I meant they could get them if they are to close to the animals for long periods of time because if they breath in hair or dander it causes it. At least in my experience and what ive heard. Doesnt mean it WILL happen just CAN happen.
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with early COPD. I am 73 & the owner of a cat rescue organization & I am very afraid that the cats are the cause of my COPD. I do not smoke & no one in my family has had COPD. I have been healthy except for a bout with Cdiff in 2006, diagnosed with Lyme & glaucoma in 2007. But I have had a dry cough for ages, primarily just in the winter months.
Avatar m tn Most people who suffer from "allergies" appear to have all the same issues. They stay indoors, take tons of meds, and blame most things on being "allergic" to something or another. Allergies are an autoimmune type of illness aren't they. I may have the wrong work but what I mean is that our bodies are overreacting to something which shouldn't hurt us......is this correct. I think I have an answer to most of the allergies out there.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn Hello, Cat allergen, the allergy causing material from cats, is not cat hair, but rather a protein present in the dander and saliva of cats. These allergens become airborne as microscopic particles, which when inhaled into the nose or lungs can produce allergic symptoms. You can confirm whether you are allergic to cats by getting allergy testing done.Skin tests and blood tests like RAST are done for this purpose.Pls consult an allergist and get them done.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
562815 tn?1222052260 I had the same thing happen last year when I was fostering a mama cat and kittens. After the kittens found homes, the mama cat got so hard I thought she'd burst. I was worried about her but was assured that it would settle down given time. You can try warm compresses in the meantime. That might help. Poor thing. I know that's got to be uncomfortable! Hopefully, it won't last long.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
658901 tn?1403814634 I have a female cat who will be a year in august, i didnt spay her because i end up moving at the time she was ready and figured ill do it when i get settled, and during that time i think she went and met some cute tom cats... how do i know if shes expecting? i dont mind the extra fur...
Avatar f tn so animals and me go together My dad grew up with a cat allergy he couldnt be in a house where cats lived...he would get itchy, cough and sneeze but he grew out of it, because we now have four and they don't bother him...the last two years or so whenever i am near the cats i get the same symptoms my eyes water, cough, stuffy nose its like a sudden cold. Is it possible that i have received the same allergy my dad had? are allergics hereditary?
Avatar n tn s winter in many places right now and people have their heat on in their homes. I know that I myself am dealing with dry skin right now from having heat on and it IS itchy! Is this something that has just started since the cold weather arrived (IF it's cold near you)? Or is this something that has been ongoing? Something to keep in mind is that just because you don't SEE a flea or fleas on your dog doesn't mean he hasn't been bitten by one.
440120 tn?1211724496 I have had cats my whole life and they usually have slept in my bed at one time or the other. Since losing my beloved cat in Hurricane Dennis I haven't had another cat in 3years. I had my appendix removed last August. I mentioned that because of the mystery purpose of the appendix in the human body. I recently acquired a new 7wk old kitten and for the first week I had it,I showed no signs of an allergy.
Avatar f tn in july of 08 i woke up one morning, my right ear starting feeling as if it was tightening all of a sudden, then i started getting dizzy and feeling sick to my stomach, it was the starting of vertigo, which i had never had or heard of before...my husband took me immediately to the doctor, he checked me and said i am swollen in nose and glands, he gave me meclizine and told me to take it every 8 hours....that was all!..
Avatar f tn My cat Uni ... Yesterday began feeling ill..... 5 weeks ago she gave birth to 6 kittens,,, we were not expecting this many as she is not a very big cat.... Her kittens have been thriving, and so have she ... Until yesterday ... We have been giving her regular excellent dry cat food, along with wet cat food as well ... Iams brand.... Water at her choice... She has now taken a turn... No vaginal discharge, she is not vocal at all... She does not want to eat or drink, has thrown up twice...
1701562 tn?1307147273 Unfortunately, this is the worst time of the year for finding homes for all of the cats that need them, because it is kitten season. Private groups like the Humane Society are probably full and can't take them. Public shelters who have to take them may need to euthanize them if they have no more space. If you could take care of them or find some one that can until the fall, the odds of them finding homes would increase.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
436973 tn?1217947089 I think she could still find good homes for the kittens. I took in a Mama cat last Summer who was pregnant with 3 kittens and I took out an ad when they were 8 weeks old and found good homes for each of them. I did charge just enough to cover the ad and I did interview the people wanting the kittens (to make sure there weren't any weirdos wanting the kittens for anything weird). But I tell you what, I only had 3 kittens but must have had 20 calls on them.
Avatar n tn Where is everyone from?? And there due dates. I'm from Coventry in the UK.
Avatar m tn Could not even stay with a cat in the room. I went to an alllergy specialist (in Turkey) and he prepared me a vaccination. It was not sold in the pharmacies, it was something he prepared). I did the vaccination for 4 years and my allergy is more bearable now. If I am in a cat environment I take my allergy pill and I am OK.. maybe you should change your doctor and take second opinion??
