9138366 tn?1410253633 Ya that is not good. Notice how your cat lays by your head if you don't teach him not to go in the crib and keeps going in it when baby is here he is probably going to sleep by the babies head and since cats don't have a sense if boundaries if they get too close to the baby they can suffocate the baby.
Avatar n tn We've had our cat for about 6 months, she's never been outside. We live in a 1 bedroom apt. which means she sleeps in the living room. Our son is about to be born soon, and though we've kept telling ourselves today is the day we kick Toffee out, we just don't have the heart to do it. We've heard cat hair is bad for babies, and thats why we need to get rid of Toffee. Is cat hair really bad, or can Toffee stay? I have no idea what to do with her anymore!
Avatar n tn As long as you keep the cat away from the babies crib. Cats have been known to lay on baby's faces (to cuddle) and end up causing suffocation.
7845323 tn?1394873413 That said, Im going to monitor my cat at all times and not let her be in the nursery or room when baby is napping and so am I. My cat hasnt tried jumping in the crib so Im relieved about that too.
Avatar m tn I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.
541150 tn?1306033843 ve always had cats right along with the babies and never had a problem with allergies. IMO allergies have an increased chance of developing when a baby has never been exposed to animals....since their bodies have never had the opportunity to develop antibodies. You may need to have a mother son talk with Abby tho about sleeping with you, this will really be hard for Abby to understand for awhile...
Avatar f tn I mean allergies in general. And I meant they could get them if they are to close to the animals for long periods of time because if they breath in hair or dander it causes it. At least in my experience and what ive heard. Doesnt mean it WILL happen just CAN happen.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn Hello, Cat allergen, the allergy causing material from cats, is not cat hair, but rather a protein present in the dander and saliva of cats. These allergens become airborne as microscopic particles, which when inhaled into the nose or lungs can produce allergic symptoms. You can confirm whether you are allergic to cats by getting allergy testing done.Skin tests and blood tests like RAST are done for this purpose.Pls consult an allergist and get them done.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn t put any thought into putting my fur babies outside until a few weeks ago, my know it all monster-in-law informed me of how disgusting my cats are (they get regular baths and i keep their box clean)and that i am a terrible and selfish mother if i don't throw them out. I've had them for 2 years and they are definitely part of the family.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn so animals and me go together My dad grew up with a cat allergy he couldnt be in a house where cats lived...he would get itchy, cough and sneeze but he grew out of it, because we now have four and they don't bother him...the last two years or so whenever i am near the cats i get the same symptoms my eyes water, cough, stuffy nose its like a sudden cold. Is it possible that i have received the same allergy my dad had? are allergics hereditary?
Avatar f tn Okay I have cats and my husband changes the cat box for me but my mom has a lot of cats and I never changed the cat boxes at her house but I could smell them ( she is also never home and leaves them there at her house with nobody there with them) she would clean the house but I still could smell it she also had a dog in the house.
440120 tn?1211724496 I have had cats my whole life and they usually have slept in my bed at one time or the other. Since losing my beloved cat in Hurricane Dennis I haven't had another cat in 3years. I had my appendix removed last August. I mentioned that because of the mystery purpose of the appendix in the human body. I recently acquired a new 7wk old kitten and for the first week I had it,I showed no signs of an allergy.
Avatar f tn Kepping the door closed at all times or maybe try spraying ur cat with water everytime it sets foot in the nursery. The cat will end up not wanting to go in...
Avatar f tn in july of 08 i woke up one morning, my right ear starting feeling as if it was tightening all of a sudden, then i started getting dizzy and feeling sick to my stomach, it was the starting of vertigo, which i had never had or heard of before...my husband took me immediately to the doctor, he checked me and said i am swollen in nose and glands, he gave me meclizine and told me to take it every 8 hours....that was all!..
Avatar f tn Recently my cat has been ripping out his fur a LOT more than normal. He's not grooming, but tearing it right out, and it's now around the hind or inside of his legs. He is around 9 years old, a black cat, neutered, less than obese, and have been giving him (probably) healthier food such as the Wellness Brand seafood dry food and Natural seafood wet food, sometimes giving him Friskies wet food as a reward.
Avatar f tn It's the litter box. They suggest that you do not change the kitty litter. Also when the little one is here make sure the cat doesn't sleep in the same bedroom as the baby. Cats like to cuddle and there have been incidents of them suffocating babies. So get a good monitor keep the doors shut.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar f tn m not sure what your cat is like but I know that cats can become very jealous of New babies and cause them harm or even death in retaliation. I think you should watch that cat around the baby or get rid of it.
Avatar f tn my cat just had his back leg amputated and he has to wear a 6 in halo to keep from licking the incision.
Avatar m tn Could not even stay with a cat in the room. I went to an alllergy specialist (in Turkey) and he prepared me a vaccination. It was not sold in the pharmacies, it was something he prepared). I did the vaccination for 4 years and my allergy is more bearable now. If I am in a cat environment I take my allergy pill and I am OK.. maybe you should change your doctor and take second opinion??
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar f tn Both my babies did.
