Avatar f tn I have had a cough and wheeze in my throat for about 2 years now! I have seen GP's, Consultants, had chest xrays, bloods, ENT scopes down my nose, endoscopy, steroid inhalers, asthma inhalers, allergy medication yet NOTHING stops this horrible tickle in my throat which makes me cough! My wheeze is like there is something stuck in my throat! I take my ventolin blue inhaler and the wheeze goes for about a day then the next morning its back again!
Avatar m tn You can get both Zyrtec and Claritin over the counter, and both come in a generic form (I take the generic form of Zyrtec). This helped my allergies tremendously, I would recommend taking one daily while your symptoms are in full-force, and then backing off to just whenever it's needed when your symptoms settle down. If you ever know of a time when your allergies would bother you a great deal (like if you were going to have to do a major spring-cleaning, or doing a lot of dusting,...etc.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old has been diagnosed at a childrens hospital with asthma about 4 years ago As an infant I had been given an inhaler and mask for her because she was wheezing after throwing up her formula which she did often .

468361 tn?1207115193 m sorry, but there is no home treatment for wheezing that anyone on here can suggest. Your cat really needs to see a vet. A large part of being a responsible pet owner is taking care of the cats medical needs.
Avatar m tn I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.
Avatar f tn I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.
Avatar n tn Still recovering from severe acute bronchitis that lasted 3 months (started mid-October 08), I am now living cat-free and taking all my meds. For eighteen years I lived in the vicinity of an outdoor cat, smoked periodically (last puff 5.5 years ago) and suffered what I considered to be mild asthma. I used albuterol about 1/day (usually just one puff) because of feelings of tightness at the top of my bronchi.
Avatar n tn I'm a 20 y/o female 140lb.. no history of obesity, smoking, vaping, drugs, drinking, asthma or allergies and I haven't had any recent respiratory illnesses. I do have a history of anxiety and panic attacks. In the past 3 or so weeks I've had problems breathing on and off. A few weeks ago, out of no where, I started feeling like I was suffocating or like I couldn't breathe. It felt like my nose and throat were closing and it was hard to get air in.
967947 tn?1258873459 Hi, It sounds like you're having a rough time. GERD can cause asthma-like symptoms and it can aggravate asthma. It might be worth your time to try an OTC PPI, such as Prevacid. Perhaps that will relieve some of your symptoms. If not, you may want to get evaluated, as sometimes GERD can present with few symptoms or atypical symptoms. Do you take allergy medication or allergy shots? Bathe your cat if you already don't.
Avatar f tn In 2000 I was orginially diagnosed with mild asthma. In Dec 2005, a month after getting a tuxedo cat, I gave him up because my breathing did not feel like I was breathing normally--no wheezing or your typical asthma symptoms, it just didn't feel right. I hastened the cat's departure when I learned you can die from asthma. I ask about the space because I live in a studio apartment.
Avatar n tn you were breathing was probably albuterol, the same medicine used in rescue inhalers, just in liquid form from a machine called a nebulizer. The albuterol opens constricted airways, which is why you couldn't breathe. Asthma is often compared to drowning without water. If you're still having yellow mucus, you probably still have an infection. If you're still having breathing problems, especially at night, ask for a temporary rescue inhaler so you can try to avoid trips to the ER.
996946 tn?1503249112 later I detected a little wheezing so if I hear it any more I will take him in to be checked out. Poor Baby....little Tommy caught him off-guard.
Avatar f tn I am only taking the diuretic around the times that I expect to wheeze. I also am having a stopped up nose. Could it be allergies? But if so why only during hormonal changes?

942934 tn?1268108382 Never diagnosed though till 25 years old. My asthma diagnosis has always been in question. Allergies/asthma runs in my family and my daughter has asthma. Now my understanding of asthma is that the diurnal variations in peak flows should be greater then 20%. I don't think I've ever measured more then 15%. My doctors never have really heard wheezing in my chest, except some when I'm full of mucous and down about 50% of best peak flow. I've been to two different respirologists.
Avatar m tn Asthma does not show up on an X Ray unless it is a severe status Asthmaticus and you are basically in such a serious bronchospasm that the lung cannot take in enough air to diffuse oxygen into the blood stream and ventilate CO2 out.. Some people have very serios asthma and do not present with any wheezing which doctors who are not keeping up with medical journal will misdiagnose.
Avatar n tn I took those but continued to be congested (by the way whichever nostril is clogged up I would get a constant clear drainage) and started to develop a dry cough from time to time and wheezing. I would also get sneezing 'attacks' usually in the morning it seems because my nose felt so dry inside or whenever the congestion would switch over. I saw my primary care again and they prescribed flovent and albuterol for the coughing/wheezing.
Avatar f tn Cleaned air vents and filters, changed carpet, bedroom furniture and linen but still nothing. Getting a second opinion and retesting for allergies but hoping for a suggestion on what this could be. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn i guess really it depends on the severity of it, to me it feels like someone squeezing my lungs and sitting on my chest making it harder and harder to breath until I take my inhaler then there is a lot of coughing like raspy kinda with a good amount of wheezing it's HORRIBLE
Avatar f tn oral steroids in more severe cases and bronchodilators in cases of difficulty in breathing and wheezing. These medications all help to relieve short term symptoms of allergic reactions. However, there is a way of preventing the long term symptoms of allergies. This is through a process known as immunology, more commonly referred to as an allergy shot.
Avatar f tn I kinda started feeling a itchiness in my throat. Scratchy throat while I speak. I consulted a doc and was one medication. But later it got worse and I got dry cough along with wheezing. An allergy specialist diagnosed I'm mild asthmatic. So I was on inhalers and sprays. I completely got rid of the dry cough and wheezing. And I stopped inhalers too. But sometimes when i go out and come. I feel the itchiness while I speak is still there.
Avatar f tn s definitely wheezing in his chest, she could hear it with a stethoscope. We thought allergies originally, doctor put him on claritin and flonase daily, but it didn't help. And thanks, we think so!
