cat-allergies

Avatar f tn it could be allergies or maybe mono? if you have not had this before it can present as sore throat that is ongoing but is also generally along with fever, and tiredness and you had fever, a mono spot test if you have it would show up positive 2 weeks after symptoms first apparantly.

Avatar m tn //www.medhelp.org/posts/Cats/CAT-Allergies/show/1967931 ps.I DO NOT agree with the so called natural remedies mentioned, these can be ingested when a cat licks themselves and many products like these are dangerous...
Avatar f tn I feel like the house is contaminated. Dander is so hard to get rid of. My suggestion is for him to go away for a couple of weeks, maybe out west for some clean dry desert air but he refuses. Literally the only thing they haven’t tried is getting away from the cat for a while. I guess my main question is, can extreme allergies cause the swollen gland and subsequent nerve pain?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

Avatar n tn Itchy skin, sores, and the fat lip (likely an eosinophilic granuloma) are indeed all allergy related. The fat lip also is commonly secondarily infected with bacteria, so I would recommend a 2-3 week course of antibiotics if not already done. The three types of allergies are parasite (fleas, mites), food allergy, and pollen/dust allergies. If your cat is already on a good flea control such as Advantage or Revolution, then parasites are less likely.
1123156 tn?1338863369 I hatttttte them! Everytime I get out of the shower I rub the bio oil on them........ But will these go away after I give birth??
Avatar m tn Flonase is for allergies so it should help but if it continues I would go get tested for allergies. It only takes a few hours and most of the time you'll know what you are allergic to right then and there. If its your cat then, they'll give you whatever medication to help and try to keep your cat away from where you sleep in the meantime. I have a dog and I know that's hard but that is supposed to be helpful. Good luck!
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn hi, my mother has had a cough that just wont go away she went to the doctor and he said it was allergies but the medicine has done anything and her cough seems to go aways when she turns off the A/C in her house but when she goes anywhere else where there is A/C her cough starts up again. her eyes get blood shot and she get dry throat and can get that cough to go away she's been like this for a good 6 months now. she also tells me she get a sharp pain in the heel of her foot.
440120 tn?1211724496 I am going to keep my distance just for a while and let my daughter sleep with it...the hives I have acquired are quite painful and never seem to go away until I take the trip to the ER and get the three shots. I am seeing and Allergist tomorrow and hope to get better news.
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
326352 tn?1310994295 Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help de-allergize a cat instead of getting rid of the cat? Our 3 1/2 yr old will probably fall to pieces if we end up having to give the cat away because her sister is severely allergic to him. To keep this in persective, I'm allergic to cats also, but manage mine fairly well and have grown out of mine, mostly. There are some products for bathing and for spraying around the house.
Avatar f tn It now has red sores on hind leg and belly. They did go away a bit ago but now they came back and are worse. He is constantly licking and hair loss. Now he has licked the skin bare and the sores are getting really red. He had these about a month ago and he ate/drank fine. Then they seemed to go away for a bit but now came back worse. I noticed he hasn't been eating much this week and barely moving around, just laying around licking.
7639611 tn?1392877261 Only a skin test (that tests for cat allergy) will rule out for sure whether it is cat allergy or not. If it is cat allergy, then if you do not take anti-allergic pills, the symptoms will resurface time and again. You can again start the medications (after consulting a doctor) to see if your symptoms subside. Also, you could live away from the cat for a day or two and see if your symptoms improve. However, it would be best to consult a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar n tn I'm a 20 y/o female 140lb.. no history of obesity, smoking, vaping, drugs, drinking, asthma or allergies and I haven't had any recent respiratory illnesses. I do have a history of anxiety and panic attacks. In the past 3 or so weeks I've had problems breathing on and off. A few weeks ago, out of no where, I started feeling like I was suffocating or like I couldn't breathe. It felt like my nose and throat were closing and it was hard to get air in.
Avatar m tn Even if you do not have previous allergic reaction to the cat, the cat can still indirectly cause your allergies to flare up. Aside from possible reaction to the shampoo used by the animal, other allergen such as pollen, mold, and other allergens may be responsible and these can stick to the cat's fur.Antihistamine medication may help provide relief. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
