Avatar n tn He had the same thing in February, got a shot and it went away. I read that fish based foods can cause allergies. He only eats chicken flavored food but I had just given him a salmon flavored treat a day or so before the lip flare up. Anyway, I know that the vet will not want to give him another steroid shot so soon after the other one. Does this sort of thing usually go away on it's own? He seems fine and is eating and drinking.
Avatar n tn i took her to the vet they said it may be allergies. so i changed her food, litter, bought some fish oil. Nothing helped, now she has a crust around her eyes and has goopy green stuff coming out of the eyes! It was so much money for the vet and i was wondering if anyone had some info before i spend so much money again.
5655568 tn?1371757104 well its good the litter you are using is non scented but perhaps changing the brand is worth a try, also the type of food he is eating...especially if this is a dry food, they are so loaded in chemicals/preservatives/grains that he could be sensitive to anyone or all of these. Bug bites usually don't affect a cat like his coat shows, Nor dust.
Avatar m tn So now she is on a fish and duck diet. I have found a wonderful cat food called Weruva and most of the fish and duck have NO chicken or their by-products. Enviormental allergies: Now you have to watch out for air freshners, laundry detergent, room sprays or plug -ins, and cleaning products also, but I would start with the food first. You have to be vigilante about when she has her episodes and what she has been exposed to right before she starts licking and itching.
Avatar n tn because I have been experiencing unusual migraines, and I’m really worried because my father is severely allergic to Iodine, and I know they inject iodine usually during CT scans, i’ve never been tested for allergies, but my parents have had me avoid all shell fish and I’ve never had an iodine medication, I guess what I’m asking is am I at high risk to be allergic to Iodine? I know allergies tend to be hereditary and I’d rather avoid Iodine if I’m at high risk of having a reaction.
Avatar n tn hi again.....I know the food brand you are talking about well, its Evo by Innova/Natura right?? This IS an excellent diet!! and EVO is one of the very best. But find one without chicken. I've feed the dry version of this for years. but had to switch to the one without chicken. AND one in CANS not kibble..... In doing all the research with Sami's and Nemo's problems I have since found out all the evils of kibble, even EVO read. www.catinfo.org I feed EVO canned vension. to Sami...
Avatar f tn No its ok I'm eating fried cat fish fillet literally right.
7532341 tn?1391693986 I have a retired persian show cat. He has the very flat face. He was a rescue cat and I have had him about 3months. I also have 2 humiliations, I bought as baby's. They are 9 years old and the rescue cat is 12. The rescue cat does not meow but he makes funny noises. He slurps his food up in a hurry then he is steady sneezing non stop and blowing his nose. No discharge of any type comes out. This goes on for quite awhile. He was starved to death and on deaths door when I first got him.
740516 tn?1360942486 Both are too much expensive for me - girls keep eating a National Brand, average quality.Mercifully they are doing well, no allergies and co... Btw, I do prefer Loreena eating chicken than meat - meat seens to cause her to be a little "wild" ...If possible I always get fish flavoured stuff - there's no chance of she grabbing real fish by itself... She loves chicken - real one. I will read the links later on,tks.
905425 tn?1242337287 Dry food is no longer advised for any cat. With advanced nutritional research on feline dietary requirements it has been found that cat's of any age should be on all canned, or home-made, grain-free, very low to zero carbohydrate diets. The ideal diet for a cat is a whole mouse, bird or fish. Since cat's historically came from a desert climate, they derived all of their liquid intake from their prey, and did not have to drink.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
874521 tn?1424116797 I want to give my cat COLD WATER FISH OIL for his coat and skin allergies symptoms(eosinophilic plaque). the bottle I got reads 1 teas. per 18kg.of weight. I'm sorry but I'm too dumb to know all these conversions. my cat weighs 13 lbs so what is that in Kg? and I have a ML dropper to use....so again I need to know how many ML per pound of weight...
Avatar f tn I have a 7-year-old cat that I adopted when she was about 2. She is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations, lives mostly indoors but usually goes out for a few hours every day, and is treated monthly with Advantage. About 2 years ago, she started developing a skin issue. She gets scabs around her eyes, under her chin, and sometimes on her back and sides. Sometimes the skin around her anus becomes red and scabby and loses hair.
Avatar f tn s since passed away. Now have a cat that has allergies to something...still trying to find out. allergies in cats very likely start with a bite from a mite, flea or insect.....than their system develops allergies and one allergy leads to another...ie: foods, dust, pollen etc...just like people...only instead of sneezing it causes skin problems, unusually a small crusty scab that is very itchy, but can also be just an itch without the scab.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
1356964 tn?1302087435 Hello Opus! Yes, you know how I feel about dry but this cat will be a challenge to switch over since he will not eat any "people food", cat treats, only nibbles on canned. I have read about feeding raw but am hesitant at this point. He is on Natural Balance LID with only one protein source as of two days now..Vet suggested, if this does not work, a "prescription diet" for gastrointestional health (I hate prescription diet foods) and do not want to do this.
874521 tn?1424116797 My cat has allergies that cause skin breakouts, I've done the steroid route and this works for awhile, now using a change in food and omega 3's and so far he has only had one small breakout that lasted only 2 days and didn't go on to become open and raw sores. My question is, I've read that sometimes benadryl at .25mg per pound can be successful in cats. Is this also avail in topical form rather than using systemically?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar m tn My cat has a licking problem. She licks her upper lip and it is now projecting outward and looks like its ulcered or almost callused. Either way it is bigger then the rt. side.
53833 tn?1234996629 It can be anything from mange to poor nutrition to flea allergies. As long as the cat is in good general health, all of these things can be easily cured.
Avatar f tn So im only allergic to fish but today i ate sum mexican food with no fish and my lip is swollen? Could this be because of the pregnancy? Please help im a first time mommy.
Avatar m tn Hello. My boyfriends cat is almost a year old. He's half long hair, black and white. Could never mieow from day one which is why no one wanted him out of the litter so we chose to adopt him. He's huffed and coughed since day one, we put this down to hairballs because of the length and amount of fur. We groom him and stroke him a lot to try to prevent this and also give him special treats which help prevent hairballs. Still he huffs and puffs and pukes up enormous hairballs.
