7639611 tn?1392877261 Only a skin test (that tests for cat allergy) will rule out for sure whether it is cat allergy or not. If it is cat allergy, then if you do not take anti-allergic pills, the symptoms will resurface time and again. You can again start the medications (after consulting a doctor) to see if your symptoms subside. Also, you could live away from the cat for a day or two and see if your symptoms improve. However, it would be best to consult a doctor who can examine you.
326352 tn?1310994295 The daugher with the issues just turned 2, was diagnosed with asthma about 6-8 months ago (does breathing treatments regularly with Albuteral). She was allergy tested yesterday and came up with a 4/5 allergy to cats. She has moderate to severe eczema being treated with topical corticosteriods (Elidel, Elocon, something else) and has now been prescribed what is probably the REST of the list of cortocosteroids by the allergist. We've tried Singular in the past, but it made her mean.
Avatar m tn I have what doctors call eczema. It started of January this year and is the first time I have ever had eczema. It came all of a sudden and covers my entire body. It is red and sometimes bumpy but sometimes smooth. Always swollen and extremely itchy everywhere. I scratch so much that it bleeds because I cant stop. my skin doesn't feel like skin anymore it feels like whats underneath the skin now because of all the scratching. its near impossible to sleep at night because of the scratching.
3149845 tn?1506627771 Small itchy fluid filled blisters are commonly seen in dyshidrotic eczema. People under stress, allergies are more prone for developing this condition. Scratching makes the condition worse. Try taking anti-itch medicines by mouth, such as hydroxyzine or loratidine which can help you stop scratching. In scabies cause by tiny mites there are itchy red bumps on the fingers. It is an extremely contagious condition. Seeking a dermatologist’s opinion for exact diagnosis and treatment will help.
Avatar f tn Me and my dad both have moderate/severe eczema since we were under the age of one, turns out we both have severe allergies. My friend has severe eczema, but claims she has no allergies. My question is : is eczema always caused by allergies?
Avatar n tn Yesterday I got a small itchy little red bump on my inner wrist, this morning I woke up with 12 of them that have spread up my arm, they are normal coloured until they get itchy, they look like tiny mosquito bites but I haven't been anywhere with mosquitos, my eczema hasn't affected me for a couple of years and I haven't spent too much time in the sun, any ideas what it is or how to treat it?
Avatar f tn Okay..since I've been pregnant my eczema has flared up and is extremely uncomfortable. ... does anyone know of any safe remedies I could use?
Avatar f tn What could be causing this? Could it be eczema? Psoriasis? Allergies? Herpes of the eye? Please tell me what else I can do to ease this!! I have never really had allergies bad- other than if I petted a cat for too long- I have no insurance and can't really afford to go to the doctor with this but I can't take much more. Thanks in advance for your time!
Avatar n tn Once in a while one will find its way in the living area and within minutes my cat kills it. A couple months ago my cat started to get bad respirtory problems and died. My doctor told me what happened to my cat and my issues is not caused from the bats. Today I went for an eye exam and the eye doctor told me I have scars on my right eye caused from fungus from bird or bat droppings. Of course Im freaking out and thinking about walking away and giving it to the bank.
Avatar f tn I am having the same problem. It's true that metal allergies aggravate eczema, as my cousins can attest to from their growing up years, but different foods can aggravate the problem, too. I looked online for foods to avoid with eczema and I was able to identify another culprit for me besides gluten. The other common one is dairy. Many sites also say to avoid the high glycemic grains and vegetables. I am certain in my own case it must be dairy.
1337810 tn?1333807530 I'm not an expert but my 2yr old son has eczema. he had it as an infant so I changed our clothes detergent to a hypo-allergenic or sensitive one as well as his nappy wipes. when he was 1 I gradually introduced normal soaps & detergents. he was fine for a few mths but then it came back worse. I now only use hypo-allergenic detergent & use skin cream during summer as it flares up during the hotter period.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
2040835 tn?1329869995 ve been in Oz, living by the beach for almost 3 months and been having bad eczema and even worse allergies...I thought it might be sun allergies as it gets worse a few hours after sun exposure...So now I've stayed away from the sun but still had a bad episode of itching & scratching last night again... Perhaps from a glass of red wine? Or is it pityriasis rosea? I went to see a GP in Sydney but got some antihistamine tablets and Advantan cream - neither is helping!
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn Probably irrelevant, but my boyfriend has eczema and I help him put on his eczema cream but I always wash my hands after. The only theory I have for my bumps is that we have cats (they are inside cats and have never been outside or in contact with other animals) that sleep in our bed and thought maybe it could be due to transferring bacteria from the litter box to the bed. But I've had my cat for more than a year, and the other one for about a month and never had skin problems before this..
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
1731952 tn?1310179875 I have really great, smooth skin with one exception; I have patches of eczema that keep growing. I know I'm not supposed to scratch but sometimes its excruciating. I am currently on a steroid cream (triamcinalone) to clear it up and it does, but is there anything I can do to prevent future flair ups?
Avatar f tn Am on steroid inhalers. I have various allergies- dust, food, sometimes even environmental (caves) i also have eczema around my mouth and it is causing me to have an obvious ring of darker pigmentation. I realise that my eczema gets worse when i get my allergies, it starts with the skin around my mouth getting gradually itchy, sometimes with vesicle fomation on my lips, and the next day my eczema gets worse and my mouth would look darker than usual.
Avatar f tn In eczema patients respond to food triggers. Eczema can make allergy testing difficult. In people with eczema and food allergies, strictly avoiding food allergens may help reduce or, occasionally, eliminate symptoms. The most common food triggers for eczema are eggs, milk, peanuts, soy, and wheat. Among these, eggs are probably associated the most strongly with eczema.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn He was about 2 months old when that came about so we are managing that with Aveeno products and cortisone cream when it is really bad. I know that eczema and allergies can go hand in hand. I have asthma and allergies, however no food allergies. My question is, if he doesn't get any of the milk on his skin he doesn't have any apparent reactions to it. If it is only a local reaction to contact, do you still feel it is an allergy? If so, should I go ahead and put him on soy milk?
