cat allergies during pregnancy

I had 2 cats before I was pregnant and during my pregnancy and I stayed away from the litter box. Because of their feces . They can have a dangerous virus that can cause harm to your you and your baby. We ended up giving rid of our cats because I started getting allergies towards them.

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

As you had skin symptoms after coming in contact with the cat,so allergy to cats cannot be ruled out.In the last trimester of pregnancy,cat allergens cannot pose a direct risk to your baby but it may effect fetal well being by causing allergy symptoms like skin symptoms,hives,itching,respiratory symptoms to life threatening anaphylaxis in the mother. I would suggest that you get rid of the cat as far as possible.If not possible then,use reputable allergy avoidance products throughout your home.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

It is important that you have regular prenatal consult with your obstetrician and that you should discuss the headache and the symptoms present also. CT scan may or may not have contrast dye depending on the reason for the scan. Aside from food diary, headache journals are also helpful in identifying the possible triggers.

I agree, cats walk in their own feces and pee in the litter box and can be unsanitary around you during pregnancy and newborns. Their pee has ammonia and their feces has a specific bacteria that is harmful to pregnant women. I have a white chinchilla that Is like a baby. She likes to hop on my belly which she never has before.

Has anyone taken Benadryl during pregnancy. Nothing is controlling my allergies and I'm only sleeping 4 hours a night and that's thr only thing I can think that might help. Or any other suggestions.

Yous doctor can probably prescribe some allergy medication that are deemed safe during pregnancy. I have been using a Neti pot every day for months now, with saline solution: you can try this natural way and see if it brings any relief (I also use an inhaler for my asthma).

Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.

Don't get rid of them! D: I have some good reasons lol 1) Cats don't get spiteful emotions like a sibling might. They might act like attention ****** lol but they won't hurt your baby out of spite. :) 2) It's proven that babies whose mothers were around cats or dogs during pregnancy will have fewer allergies. You can't guarantee your baby won't have animal allergies, but they are less likely to have asthma and seasonal allergies.

Anyone else develop new allergies? I just found out last year, I'm highly allergic to wheat products. And now, since the pregnancy... I've grown a reaction to my cat.. Or any animal... :( Anyone else?

I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.

over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.

I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.

I am allergic to hair dye and I so badly want to dye my hair. And I have always heard that some women's bodies change after there pregnancy. And i reallt hoping that after i have my lil girl that i wont be allergic anymore. I have been told that plain Sudafed (Phenylephrine) is safe to take during pregnancy, but I have been trying to research online different medications that are safe to take during pregnancy and it says that Sudafed shouldn't be taken, or should not be taken until the last 3 months of pregnancy. I have taken in 3 times so far during the last 2 weeks to try to calm my nasal congestion, but now I am afraid that I am just doing damage to the baby.

hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!

When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

My sinuses get a little dried out and I tend to get a little congested myself at night from the drier air during the cooler months even here in Texas which causes me to either snore or breathe through my mouth at night. I wouldn't be concerned as long as your cat is not having difficulty breathing and is able to clear his sinuses upon waking. If it becomes bothersome (either for the cat or for you), you might try running a humidifier or vaporizer at night.
