How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello, I am wondering if I am able to let my female cat and male cat outside.my female cat is jonesing to be outside and has sometimes escaped I have got her back with treats or she will come back on her on ( she goes into a neighbors yard ) my other cat the male (brother and sister) he will go outside a bit then gets scared and runs back in. Is there a way that I can leave a window open and they can go out and come in when they please...

My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.

I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.

If your cat is a house cat then you have nothing to worry about. But if your cat goes outside then you have something to worry about.

Hi there, I hope your cat started eating again? Mine did this in October. He stopped eating, we took him to the vet. The vet said he had allergies, gave him meds. My cat still didn't eat so we brought him back. It turned out that his allergies affected his pancreas and he developed secondary diabetes. We had to leave our cat at the animal hospital for one full week because he wouldn't eat. He was on IV. Once a cat stops eating, he/she loses the interest to eat.

The chemicals and cleaning agents in hospitals set off my allergies. The one that gets me is the hand soap. I use the stuff and effects me until I take shower and wash it off. Also the cleaning agents have a lot of chemicals.

Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

Example-are you not home as much anymore, have you moved, do you have a new cat? Plus many more will stress a cat out. This is only a possibility.
