Avatar n tn Is treatment with Lupron post Prostatectomy correct with elevated PSA or elevated testosterone? Is it either PSA or Testosterone or both? Surgeon states Gleason Scale of 8.
Avatar f tn His post op PSA three months after surgery was 33.5. His doctors started him on Casodex and Lupron injections. He is miserable and sleeps most of the time with terrible hot flashes now. We were told, with his condition, if he does not do anything, he could expect to live approximately 2-3 years. He opted to go on his protocol in the hopes of extending his life, however, we have not seen, in all we have heard and read, that there is any solid evidence that it will do just that.
Avatar f tn 1st Lupron injection coupled with oral Casodex in May 2010. Three month PSA immeasureable. PSA results every three months as follows: Jan.2011 - 0.12, April 2011 - 0.30, July 2011 - 5.35, January 14, 2012 - 6.20. He only had the one Lupron injection because the side effects were so bad. He has been on no treatment since then. He is going for a bone scan on Wednesday. Looking for your advice. Do you think a PSA of 6.20 is of concern at this point.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your question. Please read my other posts on PSA rises in this forum. Sugardown is correct in that a biopsy is really the only way to know if you have prostate cancer. A PSA level > 10 ng/mL is often predictive of malignant disease. What is concerning is that your PSA doubling time is almost 6 months. One question, are you receiving DREs prior to the blood draw for PSA testing? This could result in false positive results.
Avatar m tn I am currently doing antiandrogen monotherapy with casodex with a rising PSA. 0.17 to 2.8 in one year. How long does one stay on such treament, and what are the best treatments for hormone refractive prostate cancer. No prostate cells or metastatis has been detected, however possible micrometastasis. Taxatere only has a survival rate of 2 months.I am more interested in QOL and no chemo for me.
Avatar n tn December 2 he had his first PSA and it was 0.2. January 13 he had another PSA and it is now 0.3.He has no side affects from the surgery. The lymph nodes were clear and the prostate margins were clean. Where would this travel to now. What would be the best test to determine where the PSA levels are growing. His Gleason score was 6 which after the surgery was changed to 7. His PSA was 4.6. What is hormone therapy verses radiation?
Avatar n tn I'm 58yo had a radical prostatectomy in Aug. 2008. My psa levels were checked every 6 months and would go from .01 and slowly increase usually .01 every time and sometimes down, to my latest of .25 in Jan. 2011. My Gleason was 6.5 with neg. margins. Thru out this time I've seen 3 different oncologist, including Mary Ellen Taplin at Dana Farber in Boston. I'm going to see another 1 now because my doctor suggested it. Is radiation the only treatment option I'm going to be given?
Avatar m tn After 4 1/2 years I started to have a rising PSA again. I had 52 treatments of radiation. (bad stuff). My PSA started to rise again. Dr. put me on Lupron and Casedex. PSA continues to rise. Took me off of casedex. I am still getting Lupron shots. PSA is now 16.7. What happens next? Does it go to my bones? What systems am I looking for? Will Chemo be in the picture soon? When? What kind of chemo? everyday? once a month?
Avatar f tn My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on
Avatar m tn The side effects were so bad from the injection that I am not having any more.I am starting casodex 50g daily. The worst was my memory loss. How long can I expect the side effects to wear off.
Avatar m tn Terrible side effects with Zoladex so switching to 150 casodex daily.
Avatar n tn What is PSA density? For diagnosis, PSA+ free PSA is enough or cPSA+PSA is needed? Which one will be more accurate? Is Prostate enlargement mean DRE abnormal? Thank you in advance for your time and advise.
Avatar n tn Even a free PSA tested, but those PSA data seems untrusted? Then what will be free PSA data tested at the same lab being trusted?
Avatar n tn I read a lots about prostate and PSA test. As I can tell, as your age 63, PSA 1.84 (05/08) seems good (low). Your trend showed that 2006 to 2007 had a big step (0.7 to 1.79) because the velocity is 1.09, which >0.75/yr, but since that (03/08 will not count) is 1.84. I think it seems that your "new" level is about 1.8, but this new trend need to be proved - if you repeat it in a couple years, and it will stay in this level.
Avatar n tn I have been seeing my urologist every 6 months since the surgery and having PSA tests. the first 4 tests post surgery have all seen PSA levels of 0.01 or less. Today I had a 6 month follow up visit and my PSA has risen to 0.2. The Dr has suggested that we do a follow-up in 4 months to see if the PSA level goes back down or to start monitoring closer the rise in PSA level if it in fact is starting to rise. My question is How concerned should I be at this time?
