Avatar f tn Hello- I'm new here and wondering if there is anyone out there to help me. My father was diagnosed with ALS 4 wks after my daughter was born in July of '05. I went into extreme depression (sarafem and xanax helped). I had severe anxiety that actually comes and goes. I only use 1 xanax at night maybe twice a week for sleeping purposes. I am currently not on any antidepressants. My question is I starting in September I the anxiety came back and got so much worse during the holidays.

Avatar m tn Can anyone recommend a doctor in the Chicago land area that deals with mind body medicine? I have been trying to figure out why I suddenly have started having GI problems back in August and they progressively got worse. In all I've lost 35lbs, gotten nauseous and lightheaded every time I ate and would have to immediately go to the bathroom. It gets worse when I get any anxiety at all about the littlest things.

Also will suggest you to avoid drinking too many fluids around bedtime and particularly avoid drinking tea, coffee and beer around the bedtime.
Avatar m tn Soy products in general should be avoided for two reasons, both of which are discussed in depth on mercola.com. Dr. Mercola is a natural doctor who practices in Chicago and sends out a newsletter for free about three times a week. Most soy on the market comes from GMO soy crops, so that's already really bad. The primary reason in this case, though, is that soy that hasn't been fermented in the traditional manner, as Dr.

The introduces species preferred prey is Caribou, and there hasn't been Caribou in this part of the country in eons.

Avatar n tn My doctor has finally decided on blood work to check for parathyroid and calcium levels. He said they came back in normal range. But my 24 hour urine was extremely high in calcium. I don't take in a lot of calcium. So he put me on a no calcium and low sodium diet for a week then repeat all the tests. He doesn't seem to think the parathyroid is the problem but I have all the symptoms that go along with it.

Avatar f tn I did a lot of research on where to go in Chicago and as luck would have it, the Univ. of Chicago is where the Vertex trials have been. I had heard about Dr. Jensen from a nurse I know who has hepatitis C. I had also seen him a couple times in Chicago Magazines yearly "Top Docs" issues. (He was actually on the cover of their last "Top Docs"issue.) Dr. Jensen has a great CV and I knew the first time I saw him with my page of questions that I was in the right place.
Avatar f tn Magnesium gets me running to the bathroom. I too have Crohn's and have been searching for a calcium supplement I could take & tolerate. However, most of them sent me running to the restroom...as if I needed that !! After discussing it with the doctor, he mentioned to check if the products had magnesium in them, if so avoid them as much as possible because it is a natural laxative. I think utilaman has a good point, but you do need to see a doc.
Avatar n tn Here in the Chicago area, only the University of Illinois @Chicago has such offerings, but they are not highly rated. Neither Northwestern, Rush, or U of Chicago appear to have well recognized ophthalmology specialty services, according to my searches. But I'm going by published ratings for the ophthalmology specialty. Does Mayo have a referral service? Thanks in advance.
