Avatar m tn If you trade the simple carbs (white sugar, flour, rice, pasta, etc) for complex carbs, you will accomplish the same thing. Complex carbs (fiber - fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc) help make you feel fuller faster and keep you feeling fuller longer, as does protein. With the proper food, there should be no depression due to lack of tryptophan or anything else. Your body needs all of the different food groups, including carbs, so best not to try to eliminate any of them.

I am nauseated pretty much all day but what bothers me the most is that pre pregnancy all I usually ate was fruit veggies and proteins with some healthy carbs. Now I can't even look at veggies without wanting to throw up! I can eat fruit but I am going into carb overload I swear. I used to never eat fries or hamburgers, but that is all I can stomach now!
Avatar f tn I normally only allow myself 1/4 c nuts daily, unless you eat no other carbs except meat and veggies, then you can up it to 1/2 c. Otherwise, maybe do the whole half a sandwhich and peanut butter, will fill you up more. Only do the pretzels if you crave bread.

Avatar f tn hiii, i am no doctor but i have pcos and im at home all the time.. what i do is try to use less sugar or no sugar for like a day or so. And i try to eat meat like once or twice per week. And for vitamins i take(omega 3 capsule and vitamin C capsule). I read some where that people with pcos should use more wholegrain>veggies>beans>fruits>and drink plenty of water. Try to stay off of soda .
Avatar f tn So I am recording the number of carbs I have at each meal. I have been told that if something has over 5 grams of fiber to subtract it from the total carbs. Does anyone else do this? And if so for the drs reference should I record the total number of the number of carbs minus the fiber? Thoughts? Thank you!

Avatar f tn My meal plan is breakfast I get 30 grams of carbs with no fruit and a snack 2 hours later containing 15 grams of carbs lunch and dinner I get 45 grams of carbs with a snack two hours after each meal. Snacks could be crackers with cheese or apples with peanut butter, just really watch your carb intake.

Although carbs are good if you take them in balance and do routine workout. Carbs are healthy and help fight diseases. Carbs keep you going all day long. Without carbs people could exhaust totally only after some hard work. But still carbs are bad?
594189 tn?1386916607 I will have to try to find some cheep casseroles to make, since I have to watch my carbs my dr said not to eat corn cause it has 17 carbs- 2 fiber= 15 carbs per serving but green beans have 5 carbs- 1 fiber= 4 carbs per serving much better option, issue here is my husband will not eat green beans ( I'm sure you know that issue)
7470604 tn?1396498950 Any veggies that you like, fruits just have much sugar that the can be causing you to gain a lot because sugar is carbs and to many carbs is bad but veggies have hardly any carbs. Green beans, broccoli, spinach, anything green is great for you. Just stay away from corn because that is more of a starch.

Carbs are foods like rice, bread, tortillas, potatoes, corn, candies, dried fruit, cereals, chips, cookies, cakes, and jams. Carbs are only ok if you are exercising to burn it off it is like another source of energy but if you dont burn it off it stays in your body and turns into fat!!!
Avatar m tn Do you have the same reaction if they are cooked? Also, if you are eating a lot of carbs with your meals, ultimately, the breakdown of carbs causes a lot of gas.
Avatar f tn One can eat all carbs but it has to be a controlled consumption in balance to veggies that are low carb and protain. So to be clear one should eat carbs daily but in the correct balance as i said. In the so called reward meal daily eat 1/3 carbs against 1/3 low carb veggies and 1/3 protain. Btw butter is not fattening as long as its pure butter.

Avatar f tn I too failed the first one and purchased cook books based on GD or you could just go to your local library. Stay away from carbs pasta, rice, bread etc. Like above stated LOTS of veggies and protein I traded sandwiches for wheat wraps and still keep the habbit.
Avatar f tn This is my second pregnacy. And I have GD with both. Eat lots of proteins and veggies, and portion your carbs. Baby needs that too. They should be sending you to a nutritionist and talking to you about it. Just make sure you portion and exercise. Your body is just working in overtime and your babe is kicking back what s/he don't need. It stinks, I take insulin every night. But him being healthy keeps me going!

Carb rich foods,such as whole grains,certain fruits,and some veggies contain fiber which can add bulk/density to your system, that can leave you feeling bloated and tired. Sometimes that added bulk from the carbs doesn't get broken down into energy. Carbs are healthy, but should be used in moderation by most us.
Avatar f tn Honestly I don't believe cutting out carbs is the way to go. Yes too many carbs aren't a good thing, but cutting out all (considering nearly everything has some amount of carbs) isn't good either. Your body needs a balanced diet. This diet needs to be a complete revamp of what you would eat, not just a 6 week crash course. And in my limited experience, many of those cut out the (food item) kind of diets are only temporary.

Avatar n tn Stick with complex carbs, such as those found in veggies and whole grains vs the simple carbs such as those found in fruits, candy, white breads and pasta, etc. You may need to bump up your exercise - maybe the days you don't play soccer, you go for a brisk walk, do some dancing, etc.

Too much protein, especially animal protein, can cause kidney problems and is linked to a higher rate of cardiovascular disease.
