193609 tn?1292180293 What is the recommended number of carbs to eat per day? I am using a calorie counter and I am good there, but not sure how many carbs per day will equal weight loss??? Thanks!
1291271 tn?1275493372 NO NO NO to the pizza - Here is a good site about post work ou food :) http://www.intense-workout.com/post_workout.html What you should and should NOT eat after a workout. Simply put, aside from water (which you should already know you need) your post workout meal needs to contain 2 things, and it needs to not contain 1. You should be eating protein and carbs. You should NOT be eating fat. More on the protein and carbs you need a little later.
Avatar n tn 7), i had 2 pizza slices and got hunry after 30 minutes so i had a salad then hour later i was hungry again and had another 2 slices. What is wrong with me? and yes i'm positive i'm not pregnant.
Avatar f tn I ate pizza that I made that was out on the counter, I felt like I had just made it but apparently I've lost my mind. I started worrying and checked I started making the pizza at 1:30 it took 22 mins to cook and I ate it at 5pm. Now I've heard anywhere from its fine for four hrs after, two hours after, eight hours after. So now I'm just really worried about that food poisoning that can hurt baby. Ugh why did I eat it..it was so good but not worth freaking out. Any info on it?
Avatar f tn Not all carbs are created equal. Women should have a minimum of 35 grams of dietary fiber/day. Fiber is considered to be a "complex" carb, which means it breaks down slowly and isn't really "digested", like simple carbs, such as sugar, processed foods with white flour, rice, etc. Plenty of dietary fiber and water is necessary for good digestion and elimination.
Avatar m tn i need to manage my sugar better. i tried exercise, cutting out most carbs in my diet. but i get attacked by pasta and pizza from time to time. i really have cut back a lot on my diet but need other tips so that my a-1c gets better. any ideas?
Avatar m tn On the weekends I do splurge more, for example on Saturday I may have 3 slices of pizza instead of the salad for lunch. And on Sunday I may have a burger and fries at a restaurant for one meal. And I may have a serving of ice cream at some point too. I have heard eating “low carb” can cause your blood sugar to go extra high when you do splurge on carbs, so I wonder if that is what is happening with me? I don’t know if my usual 130ish carbs counts are “low carb” though?
330806 tn?1194882349 Here is his reading last few days Waking 115 Before lunch 111 Before dinner 132 Before bed 144 Waking 127 Before lunch 130 Before dinner 126 Bed 155 Waking 99 Before lunch 102 Before dinner 91 Before bed 101 Well the doctor is lost on him says when he has carbs it is high. Yes kept food diary for him also he had a waffle on first day for lunch second day he had a 3musketer bar at 1pm. But am sure by 9pm sugar would be lower :-( So what can the issue be if it isn't juvenile diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi Shirley, My 11 year old, seventh grade, son sleeps in every chance he gets, sometimes more than 12 hours! I have found that as soon as the last 3 hour bolus wears off, his blood sugar should be checked and corrected, if necessary. If the correction bolus, or giving of carbs, is accurate at that point, his blood sugar usually levels off near his target blood sugar number (we have his pump set at a target of 90).
Avatar n tn Total CARBS minus fiber CARBS equals NET CARBS. Since fiber CARBS do not affect your glucose readings NET CARBS is more accurate for keeping track of intake. How do I know how many NET CARBS are in a food? Personally, I like caloriekingdotcom for looking up foods but you can also use a paperback book of foods w/nutritional analysis or read those government analysis labels on packaged goods. Decide on your personal goal for total daily intake of NET CARBS.
Avatar n tn She ate one small piece of pizza, small piece of cake and 1/4 cup of ice cream and ran around playing hard for 5 hours. Before dinner(6:00 p.m.) 234 bg; had 7 units of novolog; at 10:00 p.m. reading was 231; we did not give insulin because we thought it might be adrenaline. At 1:00 a.m. the bg was 298; gave 2 units of novolog. At 7:00 a.m. bg was at 266.
Avatar f tn Mine is greasy food and carbs...like, pizza, bread, debbi cakes, choclate, cheese and a lack of excercise.
Avatar n tn I am looking for some type of electronic, hand-held carb counter that has a library of foods pre-programmed into it. I would like it to be able to plug in the portion size and have it calculate the total carbs. Plus, I'd like to be able to add foods to it. Although his pump can do some of this already, I'd like to have a separate calculator that isn't attached to his body. I would also like to get a dry/liquid measuring set and a kitchen scale for home use.
Avatar f tn So my husband is having cravings for pizza after I already thawed my chicken out so now thats tomorrows dinner.
Avatar f tn I was wondering at what to put the nutritional value of food over the amount of calories they contain. For example, I regulate my calories fairly closely and usually am always well under the daily recommended amount, but there are some days that I feel like I am hungry all day. As a general rule, I enjoy eating raw mixed nuts as a snack, but they tend to be high in calories.
Avatar n tn Levemir is a background insulin NOT intended to counter eating carbohydrates. for meal insulin she will need a rapid insulin like Apidra or novalog. counting carbs and taking a rapid insulin based on HER particular insulin/carb ratio will work better at lowering her after meal numbers. Also eating carbohydrates... ALL carbs raise BG. what does she eat? I eat under 25gr of carbs per meal.
Avatar n tn ve become a bit more careful with diet and exercise. I got a meter for periodic checks. I always fast around 73-78. Yet after carby meal(pizza, burgers and fries), I tend to go up between 140-180. I HATE sticking my finger, and get worked up thinking about doing it at 2 hours. I'm sure sticking myself effects me, as if I stick myself then check 3 times in a row I see a steady rise. Anyway. I saw the Dr. I had normal fasting, and a A1C of 5.5.
Avatar n tn The chicken is fine as it is protein, but the corn and the plaintains are quite high in carbs for a portion. Its a starchy vegetable. Check the glycemic index or a carb counter book. You can find this info online. I love corn also, just dont have it to often anymore.
Avatar f tn I am a culinary arts graduate so dont be afraid to give me any options. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Who else here can not keep away from the carbs?
Avatar n tn t understand why this happened so sudden. I ate 2 slices of pizza and my blood sugar dropped after eating the pizza so there has to be something else wrong.
Avatar f tn I never really ate THAT many carbs to begin with (grew up with a mother who was a nutritional freak :P) but when I cut about 1/2-3/4% of what I was eating I also experienced some headaches. I don't remember how long it was till I never got them, but I remember only like 2-3 wks and then my body got so used to it that if I ate "more than normal for me" amount of carbs I'd actually get a headach FROM eating them!
Avatar f tn Some people find that carbs make it worse. For me am following low carb diet (no grains / bread / potato etc) and that seems to help a lot with the heartburn.
Avatar n tn I lost 21 lbs in the span of 3 months. I am a perfectly healthy 25 year old, with perfect blood tests. I have lost my appetite. Recently after 6 months of this weight loss (I have had 5 blood tests which have all come out perfect), I ate pizza the other night and fainted. Went to ER, they did every single test: EKG, blood, CAT scan of lungs --he thought I may have had a blood clot from my birth control, which I am not on anymore, and cardiac enzyme tests).
