Avatar m tn We are talking about two different things. I'm talking about a good diet (proteins, carbohydrates, fats ) that has all needed vitamin's and other substances in the food. You are talking about supplements. Most people eat poor diets and think that taking vitamins will make up for it. It won't.
7894272 tn?1395206727 Well, I'm not an expert, but I know that carbs are an important part of the diet. There are three types of carbs.(fiber, starch, and sugar) All carbs are four calories per gram, but sugar holds no nutritional value, so if you consume a lot of sugar you may meet your caloric(energy) needs, but your body is still starving for nutrients and as a result you consume more and add the calorie surplus to your reserves.
256553 tn?1258883918 Thank-you for posting your question as I think many people misunderstand the low carbohydrate dieting. First off, Carbohydrates are our immediate energy and so without it you will probably feel like you are constantly "hitting the wall" and leaving your body in fatigue, dehydration (which gives the illusion of weight loss), energy loss, and excessive protein breakdown with a buildup of ketones in the body. Protein is NOT used for energy it is the building blocks of the body ie.

Avatar f tn Aside indulging in moderate amounts of physical exercise it is also essential to maintain a healthy diet plan. A healthy diet should consist of adequate amounts of calories with carbohydrates, proteins, fat and plenty of fruits and vegetables to supply vitamins and minerals. Skipping any of the food components is not considered healthy. Also when aiming at losing weight the protein intake may be slightly increased and the carbohydrate intake slightly lowered.
Avatar n tn You should remember that the starchy carbohydrates should remain in your diet routine. It also provides fiber that is very important to your body. The foods which are rich at carbohydrates are potatoes, pasta, rice and bread. These can be included in our daily meal without worrying about the consequences of it. You should always remember that you have to consume fresh vegetables and fruits in any form of muscle building training.
Avatar m tn All carbohydrates are broken down to glucose to produce the energy. But there are two forms of carbohydrates that diabetics need to understand. The good is complex carbs, what you should eat. Complex carbohydrate foods are basically those in wholegrain form such as wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice. Complex carbs are broken down into glucose more slowly than simple carbohydrates and thus provide a gradual steady stream of energy throughout the day.

Avatar n tn Carbohydrates [simple carbs] that break down quickly during digestion and release sugar rapidly into the bloodstream have a high GI; carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing sugar more gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI. 10221785 tn?1410990458 I walked away with a ton of information, a two page grocery list, a meal plan, and tons of recipes. If you ladies have any questions I will do my best to get an answer for you. Avatar n tn The best way to find a diet that you will stick with is by googling diet plans. Read up on each one and find which one you will like the best. Personally, I couldn't go without some carbohydrates in my diet. Maybe you are stronger than me though. I have seen it work but usually the person breaks and goes back to carbohydrates and gains all the weight back. Some carbohydrates can be good for you.

6711072 tn?1384011253 Probiotics contain good bacteria and help with digestion. And Prebiotics are nondigestible carbohydrates that act as food for probiotics. Probiotics are found in foods such as yogurt, while prebiotics are found in whole grains, bananas, onions, garlic, honey and artichokes. A combination of two in a healthy diet is beneficial. Try this. Regards.
Avatar n tn The above post is rather odd. Are you really a doctor? Peanuts are a legume, not a nut. Nuts should be good for digestive problems, as they contain a lot of fiber. Some raw vegetables are indeed very hard for anyone to digest, such as broccoli and kale, but others, such as sprouts and carrots, are not, so eliminating all raw vegetables is silly. You say avoid carbohydrates, but all vegetables are carbohydrates, so are you saying don't eat any foods rich in antioxidants?
Avatar m tn A dietary change is also important. Hills N/D is a good commercial cancer diet, as it contains little to no carbohydrates. Cancers feed on carbohydrates. Avatar f tn Fruit gives you antioxidants that could speed up recovery and help to prevent muscle soreness. A small study in New Zealand found that drinking a blueberry smoothie before and after exercise enabled athletes to regain peak muscle strength sooner, compared to those who drank a placebo beverage. TRY THIS: In a blender, combine 1 cup of skim or regular milk, 8 oz low-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup fresh or frozen berries and 1 tablespoon honey. Blend. Add ice cubes. I like wild blueberries.
Avatar m tn You will notice your blood sugar fluctuates during the day. It will go up after eating (especially if you eat a meal high in carbohydrates), it will go down after physical activity or exercise. The goal is to keep the fluctuation within the "normal" blood glucose parameters (65-120). For people who don't have diabetes, their body responds to these fluctuations by excreting insulin when the level becomes elevated.
Avatar f tn Horses can lose weight for a variety of reasons. It is concerning that your horses are losing weight rapidly, and even dying. About food.. Have you weighed it out? The amount of food you feed one horse in a day should be about 2.5 percent of the horses' body weight (the weight you want teh horse to be). For a 1200 pound horse , that would be about 8.2kg (18.0lbs) of forage (hay) per day, and 5.5kg (12.0lbs) of concentrates(grain) per day. You should aways feed more hay than grain .
