208686 tn?1293030503 I need a good wine recommendation.. I don't care for bitter or dry wine. I like something sweet! I don't have a gallbladder anymore so I am not a drinker, but a few years ago I had some wine called Kiona and it was absolutely wonderful, but I have to drive 2 hours to get it because I live in a very small town that doesn't carry it, heck they haven't even heard of it..lol.
Avatar n tn I'd think twice about wine if I had very high triglycerides, since alcohol raises triglycerides. (Once again there is the famous Tim Russert story.) OTOH, alcohol raises HDL, so it'd be presumably especially beneficial for those with low HDL. By then daily alcohol can raise BP, so those with hypertension would have to take that into account. Then again, some people get a very pronounced (if short lived) vasodilation effect from alcohol, which should be beneficial for blood pressure.
649848 tn?1534633700 5-ounce shot of vodka, gin, rum, whiskey or tequila contains an average of 97 calories), a glass of champagne (about 84 calories per 4 ounces); a glass of dry wine (approximately 120 to 125 calories per 5 ounces) or a traditional martini, with an average of 124 calories for a 2.5-ounce serving. A light beer (approximately 100 calories) or a glass of reduced-calorie wine (about 90 to 100 calories) are other lower-calorie options.
Avatar m tn I'm curious when you say Mediterranean diet but say no wine? That kind of rules out that diet, which is partly based on the antioxidants contained in red wine. It's also very high in olive oil and fatty fish, which should give you pretty good HDL levels -- in fact, looking at the numbers, your HDL isn't all that low, at least from what you report -- a couple fish oil or flax seed capsules a day should elevate it.
Avatar m tn Nowadays, I rarely drink. when I do, I have 1-3 glasses of wine and they affect me. I get dry mouth and urinate frequently at night. I do not have diabetes according to my labs (A1C and BG). Additionally, I have dry, red allergy eyes. I believe the eye issue is caused by my allergies, although I have read about Sojrens syndrome (I am male, and have no other symptoms aside from dry eyes and mouth). I was wondering if an of this rings a bell for the med help community or its doctors?
535822 tn?1443976780 Many of my guests have just come out of the woods from deer hunting and are chilled to the bone. With dinner we have good dry white wine.....and a red robust sweet wine for a few that are wussies and can't take the "dry white.
93532 tn?1349370450 m guessing your husband will not enjoy that. If you prefer a sweeter red wine, maybe try making sangria with cheaper red wine. I have a recipe for it if you'd like.
Avatar f tn 100ml every evening would do u actually good as it is good for your blood tubes and hemoglobin but make sure it is only a good quality red dry wine! This was an advice from my previous OB during first pregnancy but perhaps not for every evening but 2-3 times a week.
Avatar f tn Do any you ladies think its safe to drink red wine while your pregnant???
Avatar f tn It's safe to drink a glass of red wine.
Avatar f tn Ive had 3 glasses of red wine while I've been pregnant. The doctor says it's alright. But by any means you should not drink everyday or get drunk. once in awhile is ok but don't over due it or get out of control.
Avatar f tn I don't think it matters it's still red wine/alcoholic I guess just go with whatever you perfer, I don't think taste would make a difference it is really only a different taste doesn't make any bottle different to the other unless of course the percentage is more or less depending on I'd say it's brand and price :)
Avatar f tn What do u think of the idea of having a glass ore red wine once a week?
Avatar f tn before I knew I was pregnant at about 5-6 weeks I had a family dinner and had a some glasses of red wine. I am now 8 weeks and have been feeling so guilty lately even though I didnt know about the pregnancy . Should I be this worried?
Avatar n tn I have always heard that it is ok to drink red wine or wine during pregnancy. Is that true? If so, how often would I be able to drink it throughout my pregnancy?
Avatar n tn It is easy for me to surmise that it is the sulfites, because it was the inexpensive wines I had been cooking with. I have no doubt, since white wine and red wine affected me exactly the same way. Kindd explained that they have more sulfites than other wines, which I actually knew, so I knew what was making me feel like I had the flu. Avoiding anything with wine in it definitely does the trick.
9023883 tn?1402943375 t seem right you can drink that and not regular flavored wine. I thought red wine had quiet a bit of alcohol in it. (Just curious not old enough to drink anyway!
Avatar f tn Yes I have a glass of red wine occassionally and know others that have also drank red wine during pregnancy. I think in your first and second trimester it's one glass if red wine every week and once you get closer to the third trimester it was one glass a day. I was a little doubtful about it at first but after doing a lot of research I found that a glass of red wine is fine, it also has benefits for you and the baby bc red wine clears up toxins in the body as well.
8395982 tn?1399258729 s always gonna be someone who crucifies women for a glass of wine. There has been no proof at all that one glass of red wine will cause any harm to your child. Liquor and beer are a big no no. But some doctors even RECOMMEND a small glass of red wine. You'll be just fine, so will baby.
