carbohydrate

Avatar n tn Consume more complex carbohydrates, such as brown rice, brown pasta and whole wheat bread, one to two weeks before you begin your training program. Complex carbs contain energy in the form of glucose, which will provide your muscles with the necessary fuel before you begin training. Complex carbs contain essential nutrients and minerals that will help your body develop after working out. A slice of wheat bread, or one half cup of white or brown rice, is a serving of complex carbs.

Avatar f tn THEY USUALLY HAVE TOO MUCH SALT, FAT, AND/OR SUGAR. KEEP YOUR TOTAL FAT INTAKE TO 50 GRAMS PER DAY. EAT WHATEVER YOU WANT KEEPING IN MIND THE 50 GRAMS OF FAT LIMIT. TRY TO INCORPORATE 30 MINUTES OF AEROBIC ACTIVITY - START WITH A FAST 30 MINUTE WALK. GO TO BED EARLIER - IF YOU ARE SLEEPING, YOU ARE NOT SNACKING. TRY TO GET ALL FOOD CONSUMED BEFORE 6PM. SUGARFREE POPSICLES, POPCORN WITH NO BUTTER ARE ALWAYS GOOD.
Avatar n tn Breakfast - Lowfat dairy milk contains 12 grams of sugar per 1 cup. Every 7 grams equals one heaping tablespoon of refined sugar making 1 cup almost 2 tblsp of sugar. Nasty. Instead, try sugar free almond or hemp milk. Read carefully the nutrition label for hidden sugars. Not much could be found on Carnation sugar free instant breakfast. Contains about 27 grams of carbs. If your blood sugars elevate with almond or hemp milk find something else to eat such as oatmeal.
Avatar f tn If I drink even just a small bit of orange juice, for example (4 oz) I get quite bloated (like appearing 5 months pregnant). Carbohydrates seem to be the main issue (breads, refined and whole grain, juice, any sort of candy or high-sugar item, etc). I have few problems if I eat only protein and a few vegetables. I have had a colonscopy, CT scan, and numerous blood tests and all have come back normal (including celiac test).
3923358 tn?1358552214 I woke up and ate a hard boiled and 1/3 cup of apple sauce. I bought a meter because i like keeping track and my doctor reccomends it due to type 1 running in the family. About 1/2 after i ate I started to feel sort of out of it and so I tested it and my blood sugar was 69, is that low. Also yesterday my fasting glucose was 131. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Beans, like black, kidney, lima and baked beans all have more than 10 grams of protein per cup. Include chickpeas, split peas, haricots and lentils. Eggs are a complete protein source and a good source of energy. They contain vitamin D. If you eat enough protein, and still feel tired, think about increasing your calorie intake.
10221785 tn?1410990458 3 small meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 snacks in between (one of those being a bed time snack) I started looking at the sugar content too but the dietician told me what matter is the total carbohydrates!!! For snack time you do not want to exceed over 30 grams of carbohydrates. Stay away from cereal, milk, and fruit in the morning. Eat lots of veggies and proteins. No juice, pop, sugary coffees, etc...
Avatar n tn I think it would be around 10g of carbs. I took one cup of blueberries 2 hours later. My lunch consisted rice and vegi and tofu, esimated to be 20-25 carbs. After lunch I had some almonds and 1 cup blueberries. For dinner I will have about 35 carbs rice and vegi and chicken. I will walk 30 mins after that. Am I taking too little carbs. What problems will it cause by having too little carbs? If I keep doing this forever will I have diabetes complications?
Avatar n tn Diabetes is a numbers game and it is all about eating/drinking carbohydrates aka CARBS. What are CARBS? Yes, traditional white table sugar is CARBS, but so is flour, rice, potatoes, fruit, and corn to name a few. You are in more danger from flour, rice, and potatoes than you are from a teaspoon full of sugar!!! Can you imagine eating a cup of sugar, teaspoon full by teaspoon full? Yuck.
Avatar f tn Because whey protein is intended to be a source of protein and little else, such supplements contain very little carbohydrates, about 3 grams per serving. Weight gainers contain high levels of carbohydrates, as this helps increase the calorie content. A weight gainer may contain between 58 grams and 391 grams of carbohydrates per serving. In addition to providing calories, carbohydrates provide your body with energy. Not all carbohydrates are beneficial, and you should limit your sugar intake.
Avatar f tn You need to re-hydrate to replace lost fluids and electrolytes from sweat, and carbohydrates to restore muscle glycogen and essential amino acids from high-quality proteins to help repair muscle tissue and stimulate muscle growth. Generally you should try to get 15-25 g of quality protein, with .5-.7 g of carbohydrate per pound of body weight immediately post-exercise.
Avatar n tn t have too much effect on blood sugar), but only in small portions (ie. 1/2 cup, 1 slice etc per meal). Fruits should also be eaten in small quantities as they also contain lots of sugar. You should eat plenty of good proteins (eggs, fish, meat, nuts), and heaps of veges of all types. Non-sweetened dairy ok. I hope you can get a blood sugar meter to monitor your blood sugar.
