Avatar f tn I have never in my life used NyQuil or Alkazelter, so I can't answer for those, but you are not supposed to take ibuprofen while pregnant. Since you were/are so early it should be just fine. With my daughter I took it a few times before I found out and she is a happy healthy almost 4 year old. Just make sure not to take anymore. You can however use Tylenol.
Avatar f tn My sister gave my 5 month old Nyquil because she wouldn't stop crying! I am beyond pissed! I asked her why she was sleeping so much and she said because she kept her up but she threw up a little red stuff and then she admitted. I've been giving her water every chance she'll take it but she's been asleep for about 2 hrs. She's breathing and everything but are their any serious side affects to it?
Avatar f tn I really dislike getting sick on the weekend because I can't call the DR. Can I safely take nyquil? There is liver warning on back but that's also on tylenol. Hoping to get some help with sleeping and fight this cold. Liver stage 1-2 and not yet on triple treatment. I haven't taken any meds at all today, if that matters. Thanks everyone!
Avatar f tn Noooooooo. Since nyquil has a sleep aid in it its not safe for your baby. The Dr told me to take Robitussin wen I had a cold. If your not sure call the Dr and ask, there's websites also tht show what medications are baby safe to take.
Avatar f tn Have you tried I think it was mucinex?
Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.
8585833 tn?1399748005 Nyquil has alcohol in it so i know that was one of the reasons she told me not to take it....and both nyquil and dayquil i believe may have aspirin or something along those lines in them which isnt recommended during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn s more dangerous to drink 1 beer every night than it is if you take two Nyquil every night lol....there is less alcohol in two nyquil caps than there is in 1 beer....so your not at all in danger...I would however try the transition from Nyquil to Melatonin like nauty sait....it is safe to take up to 10 mg. of Melatonin every night....and if you have a sleeping problem, 10 mg. of melatonin will knock you right out....good luck Peace and love!
Avatar n tn the drug that helps you fall alseep and stay asleep in nyquil is doxxylamine succinate-which is a sedating anti-histamine. anti-histamines are most commonly used for allergies such as benadryl, but is often found in OTC sleep aids, and some older anti-histamines have anxiolytic effects, and many other uses. Taking nyquil every so often will help you get to sleep and stay a sleep due to a cold or irritation, but its not relally useful for insomnia.
Avatar f tn No none of the over the counter cold medicines is okay for you if your pregnant. I drank herbal teas. Used Vicks in a cup with some water heated it up In the microwave in a coffee cup and inhaled like a humidifier.
Avatar n tn I found 7 empty bottles of Vicks NyQuil and another half empty bottle in my son's room. I am trying to research this substance abuse and would like any information you can direct me to.
Avatar f tn I've been sober for 16 years and stay clear of the stuff. You can usually use benedryl and childrens robitussin type products. It is a much safer bet. I don't fool around with meds. Also I always tell someone what I am taking. I once had to take Valium for a week for TMJ under a doctors supervision (we tried all other means first). Just be careful with meds.
10746163 tn?1412523935 m not a pharmacist, but I do take Nyquil when I have a cold/flu to help relieve symptoms; however, I do not take it in close proximity to my thyroid medication i.e I leave several hours between the 2. That said - if you have a severe cold/flu you should check with your doctor, in case you have a bacterial infection for which antibiotics would be warranted.
Avatar n tn I think it *is* likely your medicine extravaganza during your bronchitis may have temporarily elevated your liver enzymes. Just go get retested in a few weeks. Also, mixing Nyquil with the tylenol is a big no, no. Nyquil has alcohol and, when mixed with tylenol, can do (tah dah) exactly what happened to you! I'm sure one time won't damage your liver, but now you know! Take care.
Avatar f tn What started out as an innocent use of cough medicine prescribed by physician, got additive mode started. I had started to use Nyquil to sleep and to make long story short, I have used a bottle (sometimes 2) daily for 3 years. 1 week off here and there when on vacation. Wanting to stop, not knowing what withdrawl will bring. Never had difficulty with alcohol, but off nyquil for 2 days, hot sweats, severe headache, irritation. Can anyone elaborate on their experience or similar? Thanks!
Avatar n tn Well, honey is going to raise your BG its a sugar, all sugars are carbohydrates. its carbohydrates that raise BG not just sugars. so whats wrong with blue agave?
Avatar f tn I don't think that's a good idea. I'm pretty sure Nyquil has alcohol in it and that's most definitely not good for you to be having at all..
895871 tn?1241596077 Under the label of NyQuil cold/flu it mentions that you should not mix NyQuil with acetaminophen, because NyQuil already has quite a bit of it in it. Here's a nice site with info about Nyquil Liquicap (allergic reaction symptoms as well as a list of drugs that can have an effect on Nyquil Liquicap) www.drugs.com/mtm/nyquil-liquicap.html some notes from that site....
Avatar n tn I take NyQuil to fall asleep almost every night. Does taking NyQuil shut your body down and not allow it to burn calories while you sleep?
Avatar f tn Robitussin/Robitussin dm is what I ob said is safe, but for some reason it didn't work for me, also don't use Nyquil is bad and has alcohol in it. I would call your local pharmacy, they can tell you what you can use. I also use lemon cough drops, which my ob said was safe to use, mucinex, or hot lemon water works good too.
Avatar n tn Why would you even think of giving a dog Nyquil? Nyquil has a very high alcohol content and is definitely NOT good for dogs. Do NOT give it to him. What are his symptoms that you think he needs it?
Avatar m tn I had some this morning after taking Nyquil last night. This has not happened to me after taking Nyquil in the past, but I did take it on a rather empty stomach last night.
