3217831 tn?1353021789 Your newborn will eat almost 24/7 during a groth spurt. I was not told any of this and thought my milk supply was too low so I started feeding my son formula on top of brest feeding. Turns out I can't take my son off formula or he gets super cranky on days I try not to feed him any at all. Their first growth spurt is at 2 weeks and again at 6 weeks. I suggest you look into when they are and try to up it supply a week before. Cause its really hard during those weeks.
Avatar n tn When he first told me, I understood the chemistry he was teaching me, but his solution was to take about 6 HCL tablets with half of a glass of milk. SCARY! Here my throat and mouth were burning like hell and he wants me to put in lots of hydrochloric acid!!! Lots... to bring the pH back down to VERY ACIDIC like it is supposed to be. I didn't do it... too chicken, until one night the reflux was sooooo bad, I got up and took the 6 HCL tablets with 4 oz of milk..
Avatar f tn Taubes argues that the problem lies in refined carbohydrates, like white flour, easily digested starches, and sugars, and that the key to good health is the kind of calories we take in, not the number. In this groundbreaking book, award-winning science writer Gary Taubes shows us that almost everything we believe about the nature of a healthy diet is wrong.
907968 tn?1292622204 What I have found is that the water in the coconut shell is full of electrolytes and a great replacement for tap water. The meat, when processed, is extremely high in saturated fats! However, all the web sites I read say that because the saturated fat molecule is a Medium Chain Fatty Acid (MCFA) (also known as Medium Chain Triglycerides) as opposed to the Long Chain Fatty Acid (LCFA) the Saturated fat in this case (MCFA) is very good for you. Another source for MCFA is Palm Kernal Oils.
1657684 tn?1307375035 The main things to avoid are cheap dry cat foods that are mostly filler, and wheat-based products, and things that are simply too rich for their digestive tract (as in tuna or milk). Your vet can tell you in a nano what foods are really pretty bad for cats. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Milk thistle comes in many varieties. Most recommend the standardized version, but most herbalists would use a combination of herbs rather than just milk thistle, such as dandelion, turmeric and other liver aids. However, there is a problem when you're on medication. Virtually all medications are liver toxic to some degree, as the body doesn't recognize these new substances it has never been exposed to before.
Avatar f tn I've been exercising 3-5 times a week, but I can't get my cravings for carbohydrates and sweets under control.
Avatar n tn Sugars listed next to carbohydrates are in grams. Every 7 grams listed equals one heaping Tablespoon of refined sugar. Sports drinks can contain upwards of 7 Tablespoons of sugar, or more, per 12oz. Deadly. Exercise 30 minutes daily and maintain proper body weight are just as important as proper nutrition. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I love milk but recently I came to know that now a days hen, cows and buffaloes are being injected with hormones and consuming their milk will worsen the condition of hormonal imbalance in PCOS. Moreover milk is acidic and has a ph below 7 and hence not good for PCOS. However, if I leave milk I'm afradi that being a vegetarian I might miss on certain essential nutrients. Please suggest. 3. Can I consume fruits with high sugar content? As high blood sugar is associated with PCOS.
327668 tn?1224792350 My OB put my on a prescription when I went in for my 4 week check up. It's a prescription that's used for gastrointestinal type stuff, but increased milk supply is one of it's side effects. It was called Reglan (metaclopramide). It worked REALLY well and was completely safe for my son. I had tried drinking the Mother's Milk tea, but it didn't do anything for me.
373683 tn?1218997212 s it is difficult to pump out milk. I made sooo much milk with all 3 of my men, but if I would pump, I barely got enough out to last him a feeding and I have a very expensive top of the line pump. It just wasn't enough. Make certain that when she takes baby in for his 1 month check up that he is gaining enough weight steadily, that way she'll know if he is getting enough nourishment. If not her Dr. may suggest a supplement like formula.
Avatar n tn The more steady you keep your blood sugar, the less feeling of hunger you will get, and less need for snacking and feeling miserable about it. This is also a healthier state for your body to be in, as levelled blood sugar helps with milk production and your body does not go into feeling like its in starvation mode. Highly insulinogenic foods are simple carbs (the white stuff, like flour, sugar, rice, pasta, crackers, potatoes, etc) as well as low fat protein.
Avatar f tn In a blender, combine 1 cup of skim or regular milk, 8 oz low-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup fresh or frozen berries and 1 tablespoon honey. Blend. Add ice cubes. I like wild blueberries. I buy them frozen at Costco. Blueberries have the highest antioxidant activity of any fruit. Wild Blueberries contain more of the powerful antioxidant anthocyanin and demonstrate greater antioxidant capacity per serving than cultivated blueberries.

10221785 tn?1410990458 For snack time you do not want to exceed over 30 grams of carbohydrates. Stay away from cereal, milk, and fruit in the morning. Eat lots of veggies and proteins. No juice, pop, sugary coffees, etc... the best option is to just drink a lot of water and of course maybe a small glass of milk with one of your evening snack for a good source of calcium. Try to also measure your portion sizes!
Avatar f tn There are of course many different sources of protein in supplements -- soy, rice, egg, milk (many whey protein supplements and bars also contain milk protein) -- anything that contains protein can be made into a protein supplement.
Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.
Avatar f tn Only have complex carbohydrates, not simple carbohydrates. No fruit juice from bottles or cans only fresh squeezed! You have to do cardio, a minimum of 30 minutes a day and you don't have to do it all at one time! You can do 10 minutes 3 times a day if you like. Cardio raises your heart rate that increases your metabolism. Go to the following web address and put in your information http://www.webmd.
