1266263 tn?1270153368 Hi, The best fuel for muscles is carbohydrates, either simple sugars such as naturally occurring sugars in fruits and juices or complex carbohydrates the starches in whole grain products, rice, cereal, oatmeal and other plant foods. These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy.

Avatar n tn Hello, and thank you very much for taking my question. I have diabetis that runs in my family- both parents were diagnosed at age 50 with type 2, mother on insulin father is not, ages 61 and 65 respectively. I am trying to be very vigilant to prolong or prevent diabetis as much as possible. I have a question about oats. I typically eat a large bowl of oats with skim milk usually 4 times per week in the morning. I notice that after 1,5 hrs of eating my blood glucose levels are at 110-120.
2053975 tn?1343405733 In desperation I grabbed oatmeal from my pantry and dumped it in warm water in the tub, felt better in just a couple of minutes though still having random itching in spots, it's not as bad. Mental note to self: always keep non-instant oatmeal on hand.

579258 tn?1250649343 I had a bowl of Nature's Path Organic Maple Nut Instant Hot Oatmeal made with 1% milk (oatmeal is 210 calories) and a handful of raisins. Had 3 oz. orange juice and two coffees with a dollop of 1% milk. Last week I had the most amazing healthy and low calorie breakfast where you mix milk, oatmeal, sliced almonds, a wee bit of maple syrup and brown sugar and cinnamon and bake it. It tastes sinful. As soon as I find my cookbook that it came from I'll post it on healthy cooking forum.
Avatar f tn Lots of water and oatmeal not the instant one though and it's said that fernergreek helps as well but I found water and oatmeal worked a littler better
Avatar m tn You will notice your blood sugar fluctuates during the day. It will go up after eating (especially if you eat a meal high in carbohydrates), it will go down after physical activity or exercise. The goal is to keep the fluctuation within the "normal" blood glucose parameters (65-120). For people who don't have diabetes, their body responds to these fluctuations by excreting insulin when the level becomes elevated.
Avatar n tn Remember balancing the carbohydrates and protein is the key and you would required carbohydrates for continuous energy and also for instant day to day work so decrease taking simple carbohydrates as in sugars and try to consume them in fruits and complex fiber rich carbohydrates. Proteins you can increase a little by taking a glass of toned milk with your regular protein diet. With more of intense muscle building you need to take supplements as advised by your trainer.
Avatar n tn Since my diagnosis in July, I have become obsessed with food. I really struggle with my diet. My doctor said I should try limiting carbs to 50 per day. I read all labels and make sure I am eating protein with carbs. I find that I get headaches when I don't eat properly. I started logging my food because it helps keep me on the right track.
Avatar f tn Yes it's safe. My milk didn't come in fully only able to produce less than 1/4 an ounce at a time. I tried it to help produce more and drank it everyday for like 6 months I don't think it helped at all though.

Avatar f tn Great choices for post workout is a combination of protein and whole grain carbohydrates. I usually go for a protein shake with a little oatmeal, or 4 ounces of chicken with some quinoa. Some people choose a simple protein bar, but be careful of excessive sugars and fats. Quest bars are usually the best choice since many can pack either a ton of sugar or worse, fake sugars.
Avatar f tn I started taking tums but I switched to Alka-Seltzer heartburn+gas relief chews and I LOVE them!!!! Instant relief and they are yummy!!! If you don't want to buy anything than I suggest eating small portions and avoid fried food.
1827931 tn?1317905317 If it works, stick with it! That being said, I'd certainly have your system checked out. I also developed Barrett's Esophagus, a pre-cancerous condition. I no longer have to take any medication. After reading your post, I think I'll start mixing in oatmeal in my diet again! Where you live, I'll bet you are familiar with Red Mill Steel Cut Oats, a great product.
