Avatar n tn Low Amylase Levels in Blood Low level of amylase in the body is mostly resulted due to consumption of high amounts of carbohydrates. This is the case with amylase deficiency in people with fat intolerance. As mentioned earlier, amylase catalyzes starch and complex carbohydrates. So, the higher the amount of these nutrients in the body, the more is the requirement of amylase.
Avatar f tn No being from the UK I am not sure how they define pacs versus pvcs but suspect the wide versus narrow may be the distinction? Beyond your high and low heart rates due to your IST you may have had 226 pacs and 43 pvcs. For a 7 day period that isn't a lot. Unfortunately IST can be very hard to treat. Hopefully you can be helped with an ablation but your wait list is long. I have no experience with the issue. I had a different SVT so just give the meds a try and see if it helps.
Avatar n tn Some months ago, I started a specialized diet; it contains relatively few carbohydrates, and my persistent heartburn went away. I didn't think much of it until I discovered the writings of Dr.
Avatar f tn The 126 is worrysome, but it takes more than just 1 test to define you as diabetic. However you do at least have problems with your BG. What "diet" have you been on, since its carbohydrates that raise BG ! A low fat high carb "diet" just makes the pancreas work harder than it needs too! and can cause the pancreas to quit working earlier. The diet you need to be on is a low carb diet.
Avatar n tn The interventions are more oriented to risk factors modification like decreasing weight; aerobic exercise; decreasing foods w/ high content of cholesterol and carbohydrates; and increasing fish, nuts, olive oil, cereal, vegetables and fruits intake. If your kids have an increased risk for high cholesterol (i.e. obesity) it would be reasonable to measure the cholesterol, to define how aggressive has to be the intervention. Good luck.
Tbd This does not mean that all carbohydrates must be avoided but it is necessary to limit carbohydrate intake and to choose what are called complex carbohydrates in place of simple carbohydrates. The goal for a type 2 diabetic is to maintain their blood glucose within a safe range. Complex carbohydrates are broken down at a slower rate than simple carbohydrates meaning that the glucose is released into the bloodstream at a slower rate allowing more time for the uptake of glucose.
1266263 tn?1270153368 Hi, The best fuel for muscles is carbohydrates, either simple sugars such as naturally occurring sugars in fruits and juices or complex carbohydrates the starches in whole grain products, rice, cereal, oatmeal and other plant foods. These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy.
Avatar n tn Hi. I was wondering if there's is some free app for carbohydrates counting? I was never good at that. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.
Avatar f tn I read that carbohydrates are the main source of energy, so it is important to eat some amount of carbohydrates daily so the body is able to function. There are different types of carbohydrates. For example breads, pasta, potatoes and rice and then there are vegetables and fruits. Can I obtain my carbohydrate intake just by eating (vegetables and fruits), or is it important that I also eat (breads, pasta, potatoes and rice in small quantities)?.

Avatar m tn I was wondering is bread addictive I mean the carbohydrates I want to stop eating bread but I crave it a lot
Avatar f tn Calories come from nutrients, from our food, broken down to its simplest elements. Some carbohydrates start to break down in our mouth with our saliva, then the stomach starts protein break-down. The food makes it way to the small intestines where fats, and protein break down are completed, and all, including carbohydrates, are absorbed into our bodies. Whatever is not broken down, passes into the large intestine and excreted.
