Avatar f tn Can I obtain my carbohydrate intake just by eating (vegetables and fruits), or is it important that I also eat (breads, pasta, potatoes and rice in small quantities)?. Or do I have to eliminate them completely from my diet???? 2. I do not understand the exact relation between the amount of carbohydrates taken and the glicemic index. Could I eat food of low glicemic index, and still obtain the amount of carbohydrates required daily???? Does high glicemic index means more carbohydrates???
Avatar m tn Your blood glucose increase is most likely caused by what you ate. 5 pieces of bread is a lot of carbohydrate. Additionally some vegetables (carrots included) have a high carbohydrate content.

Avatar m tn My symptoms also include depression, sleeplessness, and being exhausted, even while I stick to a strict diet of eating no carbs. Symptoms of sever diarrhea have been resolved by taking large doses of digestive enzymes. Recently I have had relief from my eye allergies for about 9 months when I started taking large does of digestive enzymes, but the effects have since worn off. History: I have been tested for parasites many time and results were always negative.
Avatar m tn Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks. As for where calories come from... You can find products that have zero carbohydrates, but are still pretty high in calories. A calorie is actually a measure of energy. Basically, everything you eat requires a certain amount of energy to "burn" it completely.

Avatar m tn Hi. I am on a quest to lost some weight. I have been overweight for some time and peaked at around 275. I am currently 250. My exercise routine consists of weight training and biking (stationary) for 20 miles 2-3 times a week. I have seen minor differences in my body, such as lost inches on the waist. But lately, it has been hard to lose the weight...I'm staying around 250. I want to focus primarily on losing the fat.
Avatar n tn t at all true -- the majority of your diet should be carbs. Vegetables, for example, the core of a healthy diet, are carbs, whereas beef is very high in fat on purpose and hard to digest despite being high in protein and so is never weight-loss food. In general, nuts, beans, animal food, and seeds are examples of high protein foods, while most of the rest is carbohydrate. In both categories you'll find fats, which come in good healthy ones and other not so healthy ones.
1266263 tn?1270153368 When you deplete your glycogen stores, as can happen during repeated days of hard training and a low carbohydrate diet, you feel overwhelmingly exhausted. Eating high carbohydrate foods like cereal, pancakes, bread, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta on a daily basis can help you train harder and compete better. All the best.
Avatar f tn whole grains cannot be identified by the color of the food, look for products that have 5 grams, or 20 percent of the daily value of fiber, per serving.
Avatar f tn Study Confirms That Fresh Vegetables Can Lower Diabetes Risk The results of a study published in the BMJ (British Medical Journal) reviewed six studies covering more than 220,000 people, concluding that one and one half servings of green leafy vegetables per day lowered the risk of Type II diabetes by 14%. This is significant because the finding provides validity to the understanding that diabetes is a disease caused by poor diet and can be improved through dietary modification.
Avatar n tn If weight conscious and diabetic start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Eat organic whole grains, vegetables, fish and poultry, and fruits, and lean beef and pork. Avoid foods made with white flour; breads, crackers, pasta and white foods like rice and potatoes as these quickly turn into sugar after eating. Avatar n tn I do know carbs raise BG. I ate a lot of rice, vegetables, pulses and a 2 chapattis. Also little very sweet curd. I wanted to see if PP would show high. What do you mean by 'not washing my hands' ? A compounder came to draw the blood. I have given blood for PP gain today with almost same meal with two half boiled eggs. Just to ensure a double check.

Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.

Avatar n tn Diet modification should be aimed at taking adequate calories are required for the mount of physical work, however slightly decreasing the carbohydrate intake and increasing the protein intake with plenty of fruits and vegetables. You could also start exercising the upper body like weight lifts etc. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn I say try eating a higher protein, lower carbohydrate diet for a week or two and see if that helps. High carb diets, especially with sugars, tend to make us sluggish and hungry very shortly after eating. Try eating more meats, dairy products, fresh fruits & vegetables and drink plenty of water.
Avatar n tn You just need a balanced diet like the old days with lots of vegetables, lean protein and fruit. Eat little sugar. Substitute water for all those high-sugar drinks everybody downs in huge quantities. Be aware beer and liquor has calories. You can't just opt out from a healthy diet and eat a single food source like a protein bar or something. Balance, variety, lots of color, home-cooked, not processed and packaged.
