Business woman1 But one has to rule out the other possibilities like IBS {irritable bowel syndrome, bacterial overgrowth of the small intestine, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, carbohydrate {sugar} malabsorption, hyperthyroidism, Addison’s disease or may be due to laxative abuse. Avatar n tn I have carbohydrate malabsorption (otherwise known as dissacharidase defficiency). Both are just fancy names for the fact that my body doesn't make enough enzymes to break down and properly absorb carbohydrates. Like ruffmagruff, i developed this out of the blue after having a bad stomach bug. took about 14 months of being pretty miserable before we figured out what what up. It was a total fluke: i wanted to lose about 10 lbs so i tried the south beach diet.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 31 year old female recently diagnosed with Dissacharidase Deficiency, otherwise known as carbohydrate malabsorption. According to my gastro, a bad viral infection I acquired almost 18 months ago knocked out only my lactase enzymes, but also the enzymes neccessary to break down sugars, most carbs and all starches. I also became seriously sensitive to fructose, the sugar found in fruit.
Avatar n tn Have you been tested for fat malabsorption? That condition can also result in a foul-smelling stool.
Avatar m tn Hello again, Intestinal malabsorption would have no impact on the reliability of your negative test results. Your tests are final and fully conclusive; you are HIV negative without any doubt. You can certainly forget about HIV.
1396732 tn?1280415399 For several months now, most food I eat results in sometimes severe stomach cramps accompanied by rapid heartbeat, clammy skin and a very sick feeling until I have a bowel movement that is brown and yellow, especially when I wipe. If I eat anything oily or greasy like fries, or even a ceasar salad and a small 1/2 sandwich, I'm in the bathroom sometimes within 5 minutes of beginning to eat.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken the Fat Malabsorption test, because they had long term diarrhea? I am on my 6th and final day of the test. It is a horrible test! I had to eat 100 grams of fat, 3 days before I began the stool collection, and 100 grams of fat the 3 days of the stool collection. Thank God today is my last day! I am so nauseous! I am never going to want to eat again. It is very hard to fit 100 grams of fat into your daily diet, when you don't have a decent appetite.
Avatar f tn I am having other health issues and my Neurologist ordered a B12 test. I was hoping for some input on the results. 426 pg/ml range 254-1320 pg/ml. Also I recently had a brain MRI and it showed Adenoid Hypertrophy. Has anyone else had this. I am not now nor have I recently been sick. I should also note that I have a goiter, thyroid nodules and enlarged lymph nodes in my neck. Thanks for any input.
Avatar f tn I am new here and I was hoping that someone would be able to shed some light on my most recent test results. Here is a little background. I am 31, female, and in poor health. I have Lyme, Bartonella, Babesiosis, RA, and a list of other health conditions. I was hospitalized in January for an infected port a cath (pseudomonas) which turned into sepsis. I picked up VRE while in the hospital which was treated with 14 days of IV Zyvox.
Avatar m tn Also i had total cholesterol of 219 but my triglycerides was 71! Is this fat malabsorption? And if it is, why my cholesterol (nutritional marker) is high ? Thanks in advance for any input.
Avatar n tn Creon may be prescribed also in intestinal disease with malabsorption, to help with absorption, mainly of fats. You should ask for appointment and demand exact results of any pancreatic tests and for their explanation. http://www.drugs.com/pdr/creon.html Back pain - if it is on the sides, just under the rib cage, it may be from kidney(s). Urine test may give a lot of information about kidney, but I would stick with gastro investigations for now. MALABSORPTION may be due to: 1.
Avatar m tn i actually did experiement 2 years ago on a gluten free diet but i remember feeling horrible during that time i did some research recently and since tests showed so far that i have fat malabsorption, i will try to go for a hydrogen breath test (maybe its intestinal bacterial overgrowth) or a d-xylose test to rule out carbohydrate malabsorption me writing my conditions does not do justice to how severe it really is
Avatar f tn I am 28 weeks now, my 1 hour glucose test result turned high, 171 against a normal of 139. Dr asked me to go for the 3 hour glucose test and results came normal. What does this mean? Can I eat like before or do I need to watch my diet? Why did my 1 hour result turn high if I dont have high sugar? Is it possible that it is because of something that I ate one or two days before the test? I do not want to end up having a diabetic baby!
Avatar m tn However I just got results back from 72hr fecal fat test back(this is the test I have been asking for) and to my amazement it was normal. So its safe to say that my floating stool can't be caused by pancreatic cancer and its just my body is producing more gas.
Avatar m tn t function without food so am i not correct when I say that these doctors are brutal? i actually have a fat test that came in with abnormal results which i will get a chance to show the Gi this week..but why do they approach patients this way? then of coarse ppl think i'm the looney because if a doctor says i'm fine then i'm fine I have an app.. this thursday, I may have to go on a 200 hour fast just so they can listen to me for a change.
Avatar m tn Anxiety and OCD are symptoms of serotonin deficiency. I had severe serotonin deficiency due to vitamin B12 malabsorption. My anxiety was really bad due to hypothyroidism and magnesium deficiency. You aren't going to have a heart attack so don't panic. Time to look at WHY you are suffering serotonin deficiency symptoms because you don't have 5 drug deficiencies~!
