Common Questions and Answers about Carbohydrate intolerance vomiting

carbohydrate

Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar n tn You could also have some kind of carbohydrate intolerance to the sweeteners used in cola drinks. About quinine being present in colas, I am not sure. But yes, quinine if present can cause allergic reactions. You should consult an allergy specialist and get yourself tested for allergies to ingredients of colas so that you can avoid them in other food stuffs too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar f tn It could also be gluten intolerance or carbohydrate intolerance or reduced stomach acid. Or possibly your gallbladder. A few more things to consider. Good luck finding answers.
Avatar f tn Could this be an issue since oatmeal is a trigger of too much fiber? Something else to look into is carbohydrate intolerance. https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/gastrointestinal-disorders/malabsorption-syndromes/carbohydrate-intolerance. However, that would most likely would only be the situation if you have a long standing history since childhood of gi issues. People also can develop an oat allergy as an adult. https://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn My partner has been trying to lose weight forever!. When I met him he was about 76 Kilos, 7 years later he is now 82. He is not very tall (5' 6'') so I guess he is about 2 stone over weight. He does not eat very much but unfortunately drinks too much. For a long time I have suspected he is 'glucose intolerant', in that even when he has carbohydrate available he goes shaky and experiences 'low' blood sugar symptoms.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn I am a healthy 24 year old female but for about 2 months now I have been vomiting what I think is bright yellow bile every couple of days and am very nauseous for most of the day. I don't have insurance so I am trying to get some answers any way that I can. I know this is a very broad symptom, but it normally happens in the mornings and evenings. I am not pregnant and have been eating healthy. Any advice??
Avatar f tn I have also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten these past two years. I have eliminated all lactose and gluten from my diet. Lactose intake makes my lymph nodes swell. My question is: Syntroid does contain lactose, and it seems that just that little amount prevents me from stopping the swelling, and feeling better. Could I switch to another thyroid medication? Should I continue on Syntroid, and take some digestive enzymes for lactose at the same time?
Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn Sorry this is way off of our normal subject, but I was just wondering the signs of lactose intolerance and whether or not you can get this as you get older. I am wondering because I have had abdominal pain for the past about 4 days. And I mean it really hurts. Also my back kind of where my kidneys are. I also get nausea a little and spent this morning vomiting. I went to the doctor and he said I was free of infection, and I am not pregnant so he does not know.
Avatar f tn You might also benefit from their urine Organic Acids Test, which would show you how well your protein, carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism is working. It would be up to your doctor (or nutritionist) to know which test would be most beneficial to find the true cause of your weight loss, pain etc. Finding the right practitioner is crucial. In the meantime, try a strong probiotic supplement, and something soothing to the gut, such as Slippery Elm ( from health food store ).
Avatar n tn And, it is true, in spite of what you see in the media and from what certain medical doctors will tell you, there are other things that can go wrong from gluten intolerance besides Celiac. Gluten intolerance is responsible for other auto-immune illnesses besides Celiac. The medical community is ill prepared to thoroughly investigate this however. My own IBS definitely feels better going gluten free. I am not symptom free, but the severity of the symptoms is definitely reduced.
Avatar n tn Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea and vomiting. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Chronic hepatitis or chronic infection of the gall bladder are the other possibilities. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done.
Avatar n tn My doctor said I had acid reflux and a vitamin b12 deffecincy but the medication seemed to worsen my symptoms making me vomit a lot more ( a lot more bile and also foam even making it come up my throat without vomiting) and feel nauseus almost everyday so I took myself off of it. I don't believe that I have reflux because I can never feel the acid coming up my throat except when I was taking this medication. I also am always tired no matter how much sleep I have.
Avatar n tn Since all possible causes of vomiting have been ruled out, there is a possibility that this is cyclical vomiting syndrome. This is characterized by bouts of unexplained vomiting that stop as they came with a symptom free period and start again. There is no test to diagnose it yet. Diagnosis is made by a careful history which shows that each vomiting episode was similar to the previous one in terms of pattern, duration and symptoms.
745152 tn?1233144003 I get remissions after course of antibiotics which are prescribed as i get large, acidic stools and diarrhea off and on.recently my intolerance is becoming evident as i get pain in abdomen and diarrhea after large carbohydrate diet. I dont have any food allergy as it was explored by elimination diet. I want to know what is the prognosis as I have almost quit my job due to very poor health , energy and stamina.
Avatar m tn The other possibility is inflammatory bowel condition such as IBS, gluten sensitivity as in Crohn’s disease, lactose intolerance or any other food intolerance or due to Crohn’s disease. First get his stool examined. Also consult a pediatrician regarding this. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn It could be something he eats at dinner? A food allergy or intolerance can look like this. Or something in the bedroom? Have him checked for Gluten-intolerance as this is the most common one.

Avatar m tn My 5 yr old daughter woke up Mon morning at 5:15 with vomiting. She was fine afterwards - ran no fever, energetic, and with appetite. She was fine til another vomiting episode occurred at 11 a.m. at which time I gave her Zofran and then she ate lunch. She had no more symptoms the rest of Monday or during the overnight hours. However, on Tues, she awakened with vomiting at 6:15 a.m. This time though, she is complaining of lower abd pain around her belly button...nothing severe...
Avatar f tn For the last 2 months I have been having nausea and vomiting. I vomit just about everytime I eat. I am sick all the time. I have been on phenegran, reglan, and zofran. Nothing is working for me. I have had an upper gi, an endoscopy, an ultrasound, a hide a scan (for my gallbalder). All of these tests come back negative so we are back at square one. I cant go on like this. I miss work. I am sick non stop and I really dont know what else to do. Can anyone give me some insight?
