Common Questions and Answers about Carbohydrate intolerance reaction

carbohydrate

Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn It could also be gluten intolerance or carbohydrate intolerance or reduced stomach acid. Or possibly your gallbladder. A few more things to consider. Good luck finding answers.
Avatar f tn My partner has been trying to lose weight forever!. When I met him he was about 76 Kilos, 7 years later he is now 82. He is not very tall (5' 6'') so I guess he is about 2 stone over weight. He does not eat very much but unfortunately drinks too much. For a long time I have suspected he is 'glucose intolerant', in that even when he has carbohydrate available he goes shaky and experiences 'low' blood sugar symptoms.
Avatar n tn You could also have some kind of carbohydrate intolerance to the sweeteners used in cola drinks. About quinine being present in colas, I am not sure. But yes, quinine if present can cause allergic reactions. You should consult an allergy specialist and get yourself tested for allergies to ingredients of colas so that you can avoid them in other food stuffs too. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar m tn Due to stomach problems, I have decided to try a Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Has anyone experienced relief on this diet? So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?
Avatar f tn I have also developed an intolerance to lactose and gluten these past two years. I have eliminated all lactose and gluten from my diet. Lactose intake makes my lymph nodes swell. My question is: Syntroid does contain lactose, and it seems that just that little amount prevents me from stopping the swelling, and feeling better. Could I switch to another thyroid medication? Should I continue on Syntroid, and take some digestive enzymes for lactose at the same time?
Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn I'm unsure if I have had an egg reaction or intolerance to egg or either. Please help!? There was a period of roughly 2-3 months where I hadn't had eaten any eggs and one day I had breakfast made for me. Scrambled eggs, my favorite, but within 10 minutes of eating it I had this servere stomache pain. I just asuumed the eggs were old or my husband didn't cook it for long enough. I had scrambled eggs again a few months later and the same thing happened.
11236850 tn?1416445990 I guess it could be a histamine intolerance as well as masterblogger it said. And if it is true and we were right, you should try to get Daosin. It helps you to check up your histamine level within your body and stops the allergic reaction!
Avatar f tn When I drink I get a runny nose does this mean I have a alcohol intolerance and also is it bad if I continue drinking?
Avatar f tn I am a 62 year old female and I have just started having almost an asthma like reaction when I cut up hot peppers. I was cutting up just a pablano pepper today and almost from the first cut I started coughing and having a little trouble breathing. Why has this just started and is it dangerous?
Avatar f tn It could be you're having an allergic reaction to soaps and detergents or even a food intolerance or something like this. Or, if something is biting you, you are allergic, to the welts spread. I thought of the detergents and soaps, because this is a common allergen for people to suddenly become allergic to and allergies do act differently in some people. I would actually recommend getting a referal to see an allergist.
Avatar f tn You might also benefit from their urine Organic Acids Test, which would show you how well your protein, carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism is working. It would be up to your doctor (or nutritionist) to know which test would be most beneficial to find the true cause of your weight loss, pain etc. Finding the right practitioner is crucial. In the meantime, try a strong probiotic supplement, and something soothing to the gut, such as Slippery Elm ( from health food store ).
Avatar f tn Could this be an issue since oatmeal is a trigger of too much fiber? Something else to look into is carbohydrate intolerance. https://www.merckmanuals.com/professional/gastrointestinal-disorders/malabsorption-syndromes/carbohydrate-intolerance. However, that would most likely would only be the situation if you have a long standing history since childhood of gi issues. People also can develop an oat allergy as an adult. https://www.healthline.
Avatar n tn m not sure, but check out Tyramine Intolerance and Histamine Intolerance, both of which are similar to each other. This should give you a little bit of insight on what the issues in her diet are. Sugars, gluten, lactose, chocolate, caffeine, etcetera are just some of the common food intolerances associated with Tyramine Intolerance. Here is a very useful website that should help: http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?
Avatar n tn I have experienced this reaction even without approaching or touching (to my knowledge) actual blackberry plants or fruit. I spend a lot of time outdoors during the summer months, and it is possible that there may be other causative factors. I also spend a lot of time indoors and/or in an urban environment, on roughly 1 week cycles, that is, one week with exposure to undeveloped, wooded areas, and one week in a city, in buildings and cars.
2030686 tn?1351688548 I am allergic to milk and eggs and am wondering how important it is to avoid them during tx. I have only a slight allergy to milk. I just can't eat anything with a milk base or drink milk, but I can eat things with milk as an ingredient. Eggs I don't tolerate unless it's in baked goods, even then I have problems sometimes. If I'm understanding it right, it's my immune system that is the source of the reaction. So, how important is it for me to avoid these during tx?

Avatar n tn Most people with IBS have gluten intolerance that will test negative for Celiac. Look up Tyramine Intolerance and you will see gluten intolerance is a part of Tyramine Intolerance. Going gluten free is only a part of the solution, but a lot of people find that it definitely helps.
647391 tn?1275016633 Hello, True coffee or cocoa allergy is rare. More commonly, reactions to coffee are the result of a food intolerance or allergy to an ingredient in it. Coffee contains .3 grams of protein per eight ounce cup. When such an allergy occurs,it may cause hives, swelling, itching, hoarseness of voice and difficulty in breathing and life threatening anaphylaxis. Numbness, swelling and drooping cannot be explained by coffee allergy.I think that it can be due to Bell’s palsy manifestation.
