Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.

I have written in your previous postings that you need to use Google or Yahoo to search on complex vs simple carbs. Please include a search on the Glycemic Index reference food groups. Educate yourself about the foods available to you, what you put into your body and how these foods will affect your life. All carbohydrates are broken down to glucose to produce the energy.
Avatar n tn Hi, You may be having an overly brisk insulin response to eating heavy carbohydrate loads(like the bread) and a form of what is sometimes called "reactive hypoglycemia." If this is the case, the best treatment is to have several(usually 406) small mixed meals during the day instead of 2-3 big ones that tend to be heavy in carbohydrates. The small meals should have a portion of protein, carbohydrate and fats.

Avatar f tn Hi, actually bread is made from flour which is a carbohydrate, and carbohydrates (including sugar and flours) are what makes your blood sugar rise. If you were 170 at 1:15 pm 8 hours after eating only 2 slices of bread, you may indeed have a blood sugar problem. It will be important to go through with the 3 hour test, or even better, to get a blood sugar meter and start testing fasting and 2 hours after eating. Then feed this information back to your doctor.
Avatar n tn This morning my fasting was 90 and two hours after breakfast was 120, I ate two slice of bread each with 15 gram card and 6 fiber so I believe it was minimum. 5 mins later after I went to the bathroom and washed my hand and tested again it was 110. The number was high. I am just so scared I think I need to do the fasting and AC1. Thanks again.

In general most of us find we need to eliminate sugar and greatly reduce carbohydrate intake especially things like white bread, cereal rice and pasta. The best way to know what works for YOU is to try a certain food and test your blood glucose two hours after eating and make sure you stay within target.
Avatar f tn You do not have diabetes but if your 109 was a fasting blood sugar then you have an abnormal fasting glucose and should avoid eating too much refined carbohydrates like white bread, white flour, and rice. It is better to eat less carbohydrates and eat complex, high fiber grains like whole wheat, brown rice. Of course, eating lots of vegetables and exercising will also help too.

Avatar f tn LOL I am limited to a maximum of 3 carb choices (that is 45g of carbohydrate) per meal (some people are allowed to go up to 4 but my meal plan is limited to 3) and 1 carb choice for snacks. Do you have any idea how limiting that is? I am also not able to eat ANY bread or cereal because my body has a hard time processing it. I can eat 20g of carb in the form of a whole grain cereal and my blood sugar after looks as though I ate 60g of another type of carb.

Avatar n tn you will NOT be able to eat rice or bread or any carbohydrate (in quantity) and maintain normal BG numbers without drugs. Metformin to insulin there are a lot of drugs that can help. being a pilot I would think that insulin would be a deal breaker.

You know to avoid sugars, and limit your carbs when it comes to white bread, potatoes, etc. It's okay to treat yourself to dessert once in awhile, but not on a regular basis. Avatar f tn I control it with diabetic diet. Eating slowly absorbed carbohydrate only in the morning, 25 g. Then 20 g az 10:00 am, half slowly, half quickly absorbed. For lunch 50 g, half-half. Az 3 pm 20 g, this can be only quick. At 5 pm I should eat dinner, 40 g carbohydrate, one third quick, the rest slow. And at 9 pm I eat 20 g slow only for the night.
