Carbohydrate counting of alcohol

Common Questions and Answers about Carbohydrate counting of alcohol

carbohydrate

Avatar m tn Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks. As for where calories come from... You can find products that have zero carbohydrates, but are still pretty high in calories. A calorie is actually a measure of energy. Basically, everything you eat requires a certain amount of energy to "burn" it completely.
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.
Avatar f tn If food says it is sugar free but has sugar alcohol. what does that mean as affecting glucose levels?
Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn from what I've been told by chemists/doctors/researchers even a drop of alcohol is harmful to a sick liver, ergo the fact that near beer only has a few drops does not make it safe. Obviously it would be safer than drinking the real stuff, but think of those drops is they were pharmceuticals. Pharmaceuticals can be extremely life altering even when dosed in Micrograms (paticles your eye can barely see)...
594189 tn?1386916607 If you eat a low-fat diet in the hope of losing weight, you unintentionally make the problem worse. If, like millions of women, you have eaten a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet for many years, or followed fad diets, the odds are good that you have become at least partially insulin resistant. Insulin is responsible for maintaining stable blood sugar levels by telling the body’s cells when to absorb glucose from the bloodstream.
Avatar n tn for something sensible like a day or two of meal plans. The big thing is carbohydrate counting so get a carb book. If he takes Humalog insulin, dose would be 1 unit per 10 grams carb. If not, you must watch the simple sugars carefully. Small amounts of fruit are okay and larger amounts can be tolerated after eating protein.
973741 tn?1342342773 I'm wondering about this topic. Does counting your carbs help prevent diabetes? An essential thing to do if you are worried about diabetes? What are the best ways to do this?
8323481 tn?1405705654 Hi everyone, as my previous posts have questioned the use of suboxone, I just wanted to be honest and state that I will not be counting clean time until I am tapered off. Happily, I have been off alcohol since June 10th. But with taking suboxone, and doing research on it, I don't feel clean.

Avatar m tn My symptoms also include depression, sleeplessness, and being exhausted, even while I stick to a strict diet of eating no carbs. Symptoms of sever diarrhea have been resolved by taking digestive enzymes. Recently I have had relief from my eye allergies for about 9 months by taking large does of digestive enzymes, but the effects have since worn off. History: I have been tested for parasites many time and results were always negative. Tested for celiac disease, negative.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
1386470 tn?1280608322 Tremors are often associated with drugs, alcohol, smoking, lack of sleep, poor sleep patterns, stress and fatigue. They can be seen in peripheral neuropathies of diabetes, in hyperthyroidism, parasomnia, multiple sclerosis, TIAs or transient ischemic attacks or mini strokes, hypoglycemia, disorders of calcium metabolism, hyperparathyroidism etc. Certain epilepsies too could be the cause. Consult an internal medicine specialist or your PCP. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I'm 3 days clean from norco and alcohol, been struggling with alcohol since my teens, got sober for 5 years then got a hold of these devils candy (norco) 2 yrs ago , 8 months after starting that I started drinking slowly bcuz I thought I was ready to be able to control it(yea right ) now it's just really bad. I have tried quitting a few times but my anxiety and depression gets so bad I go back to drinking and then here I go getting some pills!
Avatar f tn I too have generalized anxiety and depression--in fact that was probably one of the reasons I needed alcohol so much--I was self medicating this neuro imbalance. Anyway ask your doctor if it might be prudent for you to begin taking an antidepressant for depression/anxiety, like Prozac. Antidepressants have to build up in your blood for them to be effective , so it may take a month for them to take full effect.
Business woman1 I suggest you eat frequent small meals and stop counting calories. It is best to eat lots of fruits and non-starchy green veggies, go slow on fats, eat carbohydrates in moderation and increase your protein intake (lean cuts, whites of eggs etc). Drink plenty of water and non fattening fluids such as clear soups etc. Look for hidden calories in salads and soups and avoid them (eg: cheese, butter, dressings etc). Also, you need to exercise regularly.
Avatar m tn I went to pick up some cables and when I was counting them I pricked my finger with a cable tie which had a wire out. I bled a lot... I was literally dripping blood. My concern is that just as I pricked myself counting them the person who counted them before me to fulfill the order could possible pricked himself as well.... maybe 2 or 3 minutes before me. It is a thick wire and caused a lot a bleeding...
