I think 50 grams per meal is plenty, but she needs to see a diabetic nurse to help her with all that, and also you can subtract the fiber and thats helpful too. Another important factor is serving or portions of food. I always say hospital serving size is helpful. American Diabetic Association web site has a carb counter you can use also. I will try and find the link for you.

Personally, I take a mega vitamin along with a trace element supplement called Micro Max. I've taken it for 20 years after seeing what the animal version, Source did for my sister's horses. I swear by it.
Avatar m tn in this case, google "special carbohydrate diet". It is a diet which got invented for people with huge bowel problems like H pylori, crohns and IBS. The goal in this diet is to a) kill bacteria by starving them, but not you, b) get some easy digestible nutrients back into you, c) get the inflammation down and d) change the bacterial flora so no bad bugs can survive. Give it a test run for 1 month, and if it is not helping, you can always go back.

Avatar n tn Hi there. Ugh, crop tops and bloating. Well, I don't wear crop tops anymore (too old for that) so don't have this problem . . . but, no one likes to feel bloated. Drink LOTS of water which always helps. I've never used it but over the counter MIDOL says it will help with bloating. Eat things that are natural diuretics such as citrus fruits, peaches, leafy greens such as spinach or kale.

My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
Avatar f tn Just get over the counter iron tablets. Id talk to your doctor and ask what dose he would recommend. Im in the same boat, ive been anemic since I was 16. I suggest taking them at night (they give me an upset stomach). Make sure you take them everyday or you'll feel it when you dont.

So basically, this is what I got from it- fresh vegtables, fresh fruits, lean meats, most nuts, NO LACTOSE, NO SUGAR (except in fruits and honey), and NO STARCHES. Is this about right? Also, what is the policy on yogurt and coconut milk?

Avatar f tn Green leafy veggies have iron. Like spinach. Dried fruits like raisins or prunes. A lot of cereals are fortified with iron. Check labels. I have low iron normal so I take just the over the counter pill and it brought my iron enough.
