carbohydrate

Avatar n tn How do you control your food cravings? And do you think you could lose weight more easily if you could manage your cravings?
Avatar f tn When used in larger amounts, as in cooking and baking, these calories and carbohydrate should be accounted for by carbohydrate counting or by using starch/bread exchanges. As an example, one half cup of SPLENDA® Granulated contributes 12 grams of carbohydrates and 11 to 20 grams are counted as one starch exchange. In SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener Packets, sucralose is combined with maltodextrin and dextrose. These ingredients contribute 1 gram of carbohydrate and four calories per packet.
594189 tn?1386916607 An enormous percentage of women crave sugar, carbohydrates, or alcohol. In most cases, these food cravings are not true eating disorders, but instead are signs of hormonal imbalance caused by a lack of healthy nutrition. Your personal issue may be the afternoon snack (often chocolate or candy or a food that’s also heavy in carbohydrates), too many potato chips, the extra glass of wine at night, or a hundred other variations.
Avatar f tn As diabetes is a disease of altered carbohydrate metabolism, then the management involves greatly limiting carbohydrate intake. The degree of restriction varies by person (you have to use your blood glucose meter to detect the impact of different foods so you can learn which foods work for you and which do not), however it can go as low as 20 g a day from some, and up to maybe 130g a day for those who are very mild and more easily managed.
Avatar n tn I had good luck with the Carbohydrate addicts diet or CAD. I lost 50 lbs but as the time has gone by I have stayed at a higher weight than I like. Their web-site is http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com I have eaten this way for 12 years and it is easy to follow once you know the "rules" The diet also travels well and I can get the right foods anywhere on vacation.

Eating high carbohydrate foods like cereal, pancakes, bread, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta on a daily basis can help you train harder and compete better. All the best.

1211508 tn?1343079605 Are you eating a large amount of carbohydrate foods in these periods or your intake of food is the same during and after the 'sleep spells'? High amounts of carbohydrate foods at one meal tend to get people tried due to the increase/drop of the sugar levels in the blood. Maybe look at periods of stress in your job due to certain timetables, such as an accountant very busy at the beginning of a year due to income tax time, etc. Our bodies get fatigued from high amounts of stress.
Avatar f tn I have been formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and possible Carbohydrate Intolerance. My issue is when I eat a load of carbs, it hits up to 3 days later and I can't hardly get out of bed and am weak most of the day. Everything I read about Carb Intolerance says that fatigue usually hits within the first few hours. Has anyone else experienced this? Carb crash, a day or days after the carbs are eaten?
534105 tn?1226157177 What is bad for diabetics is to have high BG. whether a food is bad or not depends on what it does to your BG. We do know that carbohydrates raise BG. ALL carbs raise BG. how high depends on what you eat, how much you eat and YOU. every one reacts different to carbs. black beans are about 25% carbohydrate eggs have virtually no carbs Milk has about 12 gr of carbs per cup. the only way to tell if a food is good for you or not is to test before you eat and test 1 hour after you eat.
Avatar f tn You have to understand every baby needs certain amount of nutrients no matter which food provides it.Milk can be replaced by any source of food but not only milk.Ill give you details about that. • Energy requirement includes basal metabolism, the thermic effect of food, energy required for growth, physical activities, elimination • Total energy requirement: infant 110 k cal/kg.
Avatar f tn all of them, can I get them from saliva in food? I am very worried and wish I never ate the food! This was 2 days ago (May 6, 2008).
7628588 tn?1392763151 Yes, adopt a Paleo lifestyle. Humans were not designed to run on the carbohydrates we typically consume daily. They were seasonal treats found during the warm months of the year, honey, berries, and fruit. Our bodies have not evolved sufficiently to run on carbohydrates. Rampant Type II diabetes is proof of that. So, do you really want to lose weight, and lower your blood glucose level? No "white stuff".
Avatar f tn m not sure if I need to see an Allergist, ENT, Gastroenterologist, Internist or who because about an hour after eating a carbohydrate I seem to get inflammation and swelling on my right side only...starting in my right sinuses, behind right eye, right ear, right throat, right lymph gland in neck, and going in a straight line down the right side of my chest and down to my right kidney. If I only eat meat, salads, and non starchy vegetables, water and plain tea, I don't have any symptoms.
Avatar f tn Research in the April 2011 “Obesity” examined the effects of low-carbohydrate and low-fat diets on food preferences, food cravings and appetite. Obese adults followed one of the two diets for two years. Those on the low-carb diet had significantly higher cravings for carbohydrates and high-fat foods, although they were less bothered by hunger.
Avatar f tn While it is normal to have a rise in blood sugar level after a meal, excessive rise in blood sugar levels could indicate inappropriate dosage/ timing of injecting the insulin or excessive or inappropriate proportion of carbohydrate in diet. You could start by slightly lowering the carbohydrate and increasing the protein portion of diet. If this does not seem to help, I would suggest consulting your treating endocrinologist for adjustment in dosage/ timing of the insulin. Hope this is helpful.
Avatar f tn The best way to know what works for YOU is to try a certain food and test your blood glucose two hours after eating and make sure you stay within target. If a certain food spikes you up say over 140 you might try a lesser amount of that food or just eliminate it from your diet. It is not really possible to make a list of foods to eat and not eat because we are all different. But a diet of protein and lots of fresh vegies, small amounts of fruit and small amounts of carbs should do best.
