Consult with your pharmacist regarding Atacand drug interactions with ANY and ALL drugs/supplements/herbs/vitamins you are taking which may elevate blood sugars. If none exists consult with your doctor on switching to another bp medication.
Avatar n tn I get that dry cough too. I don't take an ACE inhibitor though, I don't think. Just Lopressor, Dyazide/Maxzide, Lipitor and aspirin for the heart issues. For me it started a couple of years ago one summer after pushing myself too hard. I start coughing out of the blue to the point of either just about passing out or vomiting mucus. Urgg My chest hurts and feels sunken in, pounds very hard and quivers sort of and then I'm fine till it happens again.
Avatar n tn It may be replaced with valsartan or candesartan which do not usually cause this side effect. The verapamil usually does not cause this side effect. This may not be related to your medications, and chronic cough or ' bronchial asthma' may actually be cardiac in nature ( e.g. CHF). Make sure your physician takes this other consideration into account.
Avatar n tn Personally, I take valsartan, but my friends have experienced similar success (or better) with candesartan, telmisartan, losartan (although this drug is surmountable and thus theoretically not the best one to take), irbesartan, and, for ACE inhibitors, perindopril.
Avatar f tn I suffer allergic reactions to blood pressure medications. Over a long period I have tried a huge number of different BP meds, and not found one that eventually didn't make me feel unwell. The most recent, Candesartan, lowered my BP in the first few days, but after that it gradually rose again to a point where my BP was way above normal levels and I was suffering severe chest pains..

Avatar n tn In other words, the measurements have remained more or less stable. There is some minor variation in measurements due to the equipment used, technician, radiologist, heartbeat, etc. You should inquire about taking high-dose angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), such as candesartan. These drugs, which are commonly used to treat hypertension, also work to stabilize and in many cases reverse aortic enlargement WHEN TAKEN IN SUFFICIENTLY HIGH DOSAGES.
Avatar f tn I was put on BP medication in January 2012. I started off with Amlodipine and Lisinopril and the Lisinopril darned near killed me. The prescribing doctor WOULD NOT take me off it so I just stopped taking it and made an appointment with another doctor. I have been taking 12.5 mg of Metoprolol and 10 mg Amlodipine for about 3 months. I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan.
Avatar m tn Protein powders and nutritional supplement drinks can be added as in-between meal snacks if he still needs more calories. Some protein powders are flavored and only need added water and some others can be blended with your choice of juice or milk to improve the taste. It would also be a healthy idea to add a small amount of flax seed oil and some psyllium powder to add some omega-3 essential fatty acids and extra fiber.
Avatar m tn First, read up on angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB). I have written many posts about them. Click on my screenname and find my old posts. These drugs have been shown to reduce/halt aortic enlargement in many people. Second, how big is your aorta, and where on the aorta was the measurement taken?

Avatar m tn Since then this has happened two more times this year in February and now last Saturday. It is really scary. I am a 26 yr old male for background, born premature but until this year no serious health issues. I do have a slightly hypo thyroid which I take levothyroxine for (75 mcg) and slightly elevated blood pressure (120-140 / 75-85) which is controlled by beta blocker atenolol 25 mg.
Avatar f tn I love to hear what you are saying! Ive been falling in love with my husband more and more with this baby in our lives. He has shown me how sweet, caring and supportive he can be. We've had our ups and downs and its nice to be brought a little closer together. I've been learning to let my problems and fears go and things work out okay if not better than what I was hoping for.
