suboxone

142722 tn?1281533616 I have been on suboxone for almost two years. Everyones situation is different though. I dont know how much longer i will be on it,ut some people stay on it for a very long time. I personaly think the shorter the better. But everyone is different. If I were you i would set a goal and stick to it. But you have to do what is right for you.

410221 tn?1227631837 Guys it I know how hard it is to think of giving up your addiction. I did a fast taper then went cold turkey 11 months ago, I had horrible WD's for 2 weeks. Aniexy, depression, restless leg, no sleep etc. I felt like I wanted to die but I wanted to kick the 30 10mg a day Hydro habit more. I did use some small doses of xananx twice a day for a month and ambien to sleep for about 6 months. I just didn't and don't understand the Suboxone or Methadone.
397118 tn?1219762250 Some people use sub for a quick detox and some use it longer to get their life in order. I'm still on the sub , so I can't tell you what the withdrawals will be like. What did your doctor recommend long or short term use ? Glad you are feeling good. It is working very well for me also.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar f tn For example, suboxone has a half life of 37.5 hours so when you stop taking it it takes 37.5 hours for half of it to leave your system. After another 37.5 hours half of that remaining amount is still left, so you have one-fourth of the original amount left. After another 37.5 hours you have one-eighth of the original amount. There is a logical conundrum here. If you can only get half way to the finish line with each step you will never make it to the finish line.
Avatar n tn It is great that you stopped the insanity, stopped the addiction. Now you can work on what led you to use to begin with. I have been on it since aug 08 and it literally saved my life. But do not forget, suboxone is not a magic pill, your body will become dependent on it. You will go through withdraw symptoms when you stop. I know many people personally who have stopped successfully by doing a slow taper. Use this time to work on you.
541465 tn?1219427886 If you slip up and relapse while you are on the program, wont it make you deathly ill? My friend said he would always get high on methadone, but that it was a waste of money... i need the honest truth... im scared for my life guys.. help me!
Avatar n tn getting clean is not really the hard part...the hard part for me is staying clean and is that way for most....u need to stay on track after u r in the clear and aftercare helps...there are support groups for narcotic abuse all over the US...all over every city..at all times of the day and night....818- 773-9999 is the NA number and that is free...there is also a number to call for counseling from an addiction specialist but i am sure that is not free.....
1468545 tn?1296601775 I'm on day 20 and still stuggling with the sleep thing! Take two benadryl if you can thats 50 mg. of diphenhydramine HCI. Thats what I have been doing and it really works well. I take it 15-20 min. before going to bed. Oh and a wait till about 1am to go to bed that way what little sleep I get feels better than going to bed at 9pm at night and waking up at 1-2am.
Avatar m tn It allows you the time to get your life in order and work on skills that you can use to stay clean later on. Just know that if you stay on the Suboxone any length of time you will need to taper off under a doctor's care and you will withdraw from it as well.
Avatar m tn If you have been on Suboxone for three weeks then you are through the withdrawal of the original substance. At this point you may want to consider tapering off of the Suboxone and be done with everything. It becomes a merry-go-round and I would hate to see you stuck on it.
Avatar n tn I realized after I quit that I had not been in touch with my emotions and I was dependent on making sure I had my dose. If you click on Post a Question you can start a new thread for yourself. This thread is from 2008. Good luck and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn It is a program and I am glad to hear that you are getting counseling, classes, whatever. Suboxone is used to help you stay off of your DOC while you get help for the underlying issues. It IS an opiate and unless you use it in conjuncture with some sort of aftercare program, you will be back in the same boat and find yourself addicted to Sub this time. Best of luck to you and please listen to whatever they say, whether you like it or not. Let us know how you are doing when you can.
Avatar f tn Any maintence drug is good to get on if you keep relapsing or have a large habit, but are overkill if you think you can get through 2 weeks of hell and then stay clean after. For what it's worth, I used methadone then Suboxone to quit my habit of H, but that was a for a very large addiction.
459155 tn?1264008142 The faster you get off of Sub the better your chances of not getting another addiction that may be worse than the one you were on. Wish you all the best. Please keep posting and letting everyone know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn You had quit drinking 2 years next month.. Good on You and Congratulations !! If you can do that you can spend a few days in and out of a Hot shower just getting your detox over with.. maybe pick up meetings with AA or NA and maybe a grief support group it is never to late. Be kind to yourself..
351846 tn?1273615544 Does anybody agree?? Who of you out there are completely free of the suboxone monkey after being on it for a while??
558096 tn?1255887002 I was on Suboxone for alomost a month and there is no way I would drink while taking it. I had read that mixing suboxone and alcohol could/would cause serious breathing problems. You might want to check with your doctor about it before you do.
Avatar m tn Why would you want to stay on it permanently? I'm on it too and I want off it ASAP. It's still a drug and if you stay on it long term you'll just be trading one addiction for another. You know what's great about suboxone though? If you use, you won't feel **** and you will just be throwing your money away. Once you realize that you will crave a lot less.
Avatar f tn suboxone can definitely be a life saver...depending on how you took the oxycontin you should generally wait until about 24 hrs before starting suboxone, or you need to be in mild to moderate withdrawals otherwise the suboxone will put you into precipitated wds and that can be a living nightmare. normal wd's times two! so i cant stress that enough. you sound motivated and you should be a good canidate for suboxone.
437415 tn?1211829556 I go back to see him tomorrow night and he is putting me on Suboxone. I can say that I have not felt this good in years. I have had no desire whatsoever to take a vicoden. I too have read wonderful things on here about Sub. My concern is how long to use it. I have read several posts that say not to stay on too long because of the w/d.............the longer you are on it, the harder the w/d.
Avatar f tn It is an effective antidepressant and if that is what you need while you are tapering off of Suboxone, that is what you should be on. I would actually suggest that you stay on it for at least several months after being completely opiate free. Tapering off of Cymbalta will not be nearly as traumatic as tapering off of the Suboxone, do not let anyone scare you. Every medication you will ever be on, comes with a loooong list of side effects and warnings, even Tylenol and aspirin.
