Can you split zoloft in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can you split zoloft in half

zoloft

Avatar f tn Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar f tn Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.
Avatar f tn I can tell you 1 think splitting you meds to 2 dose don't work you take them once a day , otherwise you get only the morning dose working and top that up with the night dose.
Avatar f tn He has said i can split a 25mg in half to start out cause im scared to get side effects all over again. I do also take xanax 0.5 mg three times a day too. I would just like to know if its likely i will feel side effects all over again ??? My therapist says probably not cause my bodies use to it but im still so very scared but this anxiety is so bad too. Dont know what to do cause i know i should do wat my dr tells me but at the same time my mind is freaking me out ?????
Avatar f tn t taper off the Zoloft, and while you were only on the Zoloft a couple of weeks, that most definitely will be a factor in how you're feeling. I know people get tired of hearing it, but it really is very true, you HAVE to give these adjustments time. And by "time", I mean whatever it takes, sometimes it will take 2 months maybe even a little more to get a very accurate picture of how you'll feel on these meds. Hang in there!
Avatar f tn I use to empty the capsule split in half and just plug the end with a little bread if you have no vitimans laying around..
9475243 tn?1405300275 Splitting a pill is easier. But you can try it. Zoloft is pretty tolerable it appears. And for many people it takes a higher dosage to be effective. I'd be surprised if 5o mg is where you end up as 100 mg is a more common dose. But time will tell with that. I'm so glad you are being treated. Did you see the psychiatrist? Have you started taking it yet? How are you feeling? Let me know how things go!
1073431 tn?1255963689 I am not really sure. Did your doctor tell you split the dosage during the day? I actually prefer Zoloft, but everyone is different. Remember, that it can take your body a good couple of weeks to adjust to the medication.
Avatar m tn You might also discuss with your psychiatrist splitting the dose in two, taking half in the morning and half in the evening to see if that evens you out.
1032715 tn?1315984234 So my comment is that Zoloft has long since ceased to have any real medicinal value to you and that shows in the fact you have bad times etc, on the med. Most meds wear out for most people and it is necessary ti change. The number of new meds since you started Zoloft is incredible and it really is time to switch. You say you deteriorate when you try to wean off.
Avatar f tn Many of them don't learn much, and many more haven't picked up a medical journal since med school. Yes, I'd continue cutting. It's tricky because they're so small, and once cut into four quarters, who knows what actual dose is in each? With T4 meds, it's not such an issue since the dose builds up in your body anyway and evens out over days or a week. But with Cytomel, you want to make sure you're not getting 25 mcg in one whack and none in the others.
Avatar m tn Anger is a side effect of antidepressants for some people. Remember that side effects vary by the individual and by the drug. And also, if your depression was only mild, I wonder why you went on medication instead of using therapy and lifestyle changes to get you over? Did you try it and it didn't work?
Avatar f tn Hi I have been having some nasty anxiety for about the last month and a half. I have started taking Zoloft-today I raised my dose to 50mg. However I am still feeling very anxious - I become very, very shakey & dizzy etc in fact shakey nearly all day and night. I have been on the Zoloft for 26 days and 21 of them I have taken a 1/2 of a .5mg of Xanax. I don't feel the need to take more than that but I am sooooooo scared of becoming addicted.
214901 tn?1227567555 Because I take Armour and it contains T3, I split the dose taking half in the morning and half around 3PM. I have tried taking it all at once and didn't notice any difference, except that it elevated my free t4 levels for some odd reason. I went back to taking it twice a day and have perfect midrange free t4 levels and high in range free t3 levels. For those on T4, taking it at night sometimes works better because there's no worry about not taking it on an empty stomach.
Avatar f tn In fact, it has has groove where they give you a guide where to cut it, I just looked at my Metoprolol pills. If your doctor suggests you split the dosage in half and take one segment in the AM and the other in the PM I'd procede with great confidence.
Avatar f tn metronidazole Metoprolol should be taken with food or just after a meal. A Toprol XL tablet can be divided in half if your doctor has told you to do so. The half tablet should be swallowed whole, without chewing or crushing. Chewing or crushing the pill could cause too much of the drug to be released at one time.
Avatar m tn each eye its split in half (verticaly) The left side of each eye he can`t see anything its black, but the right is normal
Avatar f tn Cytomel, because it is more fast-acting, is often split into two half doses...one in the morning with your Synthroid, the second late morning to early afternoon. If the dose isn't split, you can experience peaks and valleys in your energy levels.
Avatar f tn im taking 50 mills of zoloft a day half in the morning half at night my question is if i take half in the morning can i take the other half late afternoon instead of nightime
Avatar f tn I was taking all my T4 and half my T3 dose in the morning and the other half of the T3 at 5pm. I have now decided to split my T4 and T3 into 4 daily divided doses. Does anyone think that it will give any benefit? I am trying to mimic the gland as closely as possible.
Avatar n tn All of a sudden out of no where I had a splitting headache, and I mean splitting! It felt as though my head were about to split in two right down the center of my face. I began to overheat and my face and head were very hot to the touch. I was in so much pain I thought I was about to vomit. Luckily, I was a block away from my office when this occured and I quickly parked and leaned over in my seat to try to assess my apin enough to get out of the car.
Avatar m tn My advice to anyone is to take the smallest dosage possible, or even split that small dose in half (if possible for that drug). Then see how you feel after a couple weeks if you feel a small amount better... increase the dosage. If you feel great!... leave the dosage where it is and try it for a few months. If you feel worse... than that drug is not for you. Doctors tend to over prescribe some meds. My personal experience with Lexapro is that I felt terrible up to 10 mg..
