I knew that you could not mix methadone and benzos. I did not know that you could not mix hydros and benzos. I know a ton of people on hydros or oxycodone and xanax. How did you find out that you could not mix the two????

I hope by this time you have called your physician or consulted with your pharmacist on taking the two at the same time. I take diazepam (similar to xanax) and hydrocodone together under my direction of my physician. If fact she insists that I take them together when my pain becomes severe. One potentiates the other. My diazepam is prescribed for muscle spasms not anxiety. It is a medication that accomplishes both as I would xanax would also do to some degree.

The clinic should have a card that they can pass out that tells you what medications can put you into withdrawal and what can cause an overdose. I have one at home and I keep it handy. Good luck to you but my opinion would be not to take it.

you can not stop taking Xanax suddenly you can have a seizure. Please call your doctor and be honest with him. You are taking a few medications which mean, you need help weaning off. PLEASE call your doctor. We understand that you need your life back, and that your kids and husband need you, but please do it the right way. This is your life!! Keep us posted. You need to talk to whoever prescribed you Xanax and ask them about other Anxiety or Depression meds that can be taken with your opioids that are legal to take with them!

I have been prescribed Xanax and Hydrocodone to cope with the pain of an upcoming medical procedure - my prescription says "as needed" but I only have 2 x 1mg of Xanax and 2 x 325mg acetominophen/ oxycodone pills so 4 pills total. I know you are not supposed to drink on xanax and its new years I took a xanax at 5:30 and its 7:45 now I took one shot and said to myself I'll wait till later to drink more until the xanax wears off and I can usually down 10-12 shots of vodka and not get hung over after one shot I felt buzzed so I think its safe to say I should wait till about 10:30 - 11:00 to start drinking is it dangerous to even have one shot while on xanax??

Im a 26 year old mother of two gorgeous children and a great supportive husband. I am a pill addict....mainly xanax, tramadol and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone does cause mood changes, maybe for the better for you. If you are taking hydrocodone, then there is no need to take Alieve. Hydrocodone can act as both pain reliever and as mood elevator for you. Why in the world have you been on suboxone for 3 years? And why are you taking Xanax while you are on Subs? Taking benzodiazepines with opiate drugs is a dangerous thing to do. That combo can cause severe respiratory depression and in some cases- especially with Buprenorphine- a reaction resulting in voluntary respiratory failure.

Hey all :) well I'm passed the 3 week mark of no oxy and I'm pleased with myself. I am still taking a low dose of xanax ( .25 mgs 2x per day ) until I see my doctor next week....then I would like to come off those too. I'm hoping .50 a day is not a high dose to come off of. You can do it...I was taking about the same amount for quite a while and through the help of folks here, and a doctor's prescription for clonidine (blood pressure med that helps with the symptoms) I managed to quit. Reached 6 months last week. We're here for you..you can do it, and you'll be so much happier without them.

I still take them when need to avoid such attacks-they are now embedded in my brain. I have done all the research you can imagine per xanax and you absolutely 100% do not want to just stop. Please, get a doctor to help you tapper down and I assure you--you can do it. 5mg. is a lot, I know and not one to mess with on your own.

If he is taking too much Xanax it can cause fainting and disorientation, especially when taken with the Hydrocodone. Do you know if he takes them as prescribed. When taking a high dose of Xanax and if it is abruptly stopped you can have seizures, that goes the same for the Tramadol. If he gets 180 a month he should not be taking more than 6 a day. If the acetaminophen in the pain meds is 750mg that dose is a little high for a normal healthy person.

However some people say it can be deadly. Also since xanax makes you hungry and food can take away from the therapeutic effect of the hydrocodone, but like I said that is just my experience and opinion. Someone else will be able to give you different input.

My husband is taking quite a few meds, and I am starting to wonder if he is taking a combo that is not right. He goes to one doctor to get xanax and lunesta, and then another doctor to get paxil and then a 3rd doctor has him on neurontin. Can this combo of drugs be right? I understand that mixing Xanax and Alcohol can have serious negative effects. However, my question is mainly about Xanax, and in regard to how long it stays in the system to the point where it is dangerous to mix with alcohol. I'm not sure when this will ever be read but I hope it is and that it helps at least 1 person. I've been addicted to pain pills for a little over 4 years going no more than about 10 days EVER without eating a pill. And that's been at seperate times. Only in the past year have I began to try methadones; before it was just hydrocodone and whenever possible percocet.

I agree with Spade you should cut back on the Xanax, but you should be fine with the hydrocodone. As you pregnancy progresses you might want to seek some alternitive pain relief options so that you can cut back on the meds a little bit. Maybe massage or accupuncture (sp?).
