antibiotics

Avatar f tn I am being treated for a urinary infections with both antibiotics (Cipro) and antivirals (valtrex) because the cause is unknown. My question is, is it safe to mix both medicines?
403311 tn?1205951286 A couple of tablespoons would be all I would give as a snack, or you could mix it in with their dry food.
Avatar n tn Try to stick with the plain yogurt if you can. The flavored ones are loaded with sugar. I try to mix my yogurt with fruit. You will have to play around with your diet to see what works for you. A lot of these doctors out there don't know anything about nutrition. You could try going to a nutritionist. They are very helpful. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn Try putting it in applesauce or yogurt and swallowing it that way. Or you can even crush the pill then put in the applesauce or yogurt. My cousin is 30 years old and she only takes her pills in applesauce ;-) Also buy 100% cranberry juice ($8-12) and keep it on standby for the future. So if you feel a utility coming on you can prevent it!!!!!
Avatar m tn people say it will make u feel worse and that it make u vomit. i dont understand because yogurt puts like an army in u to fight your sickness so how does it make u feel like vomiting?
Avatar f tn the antibiotic stings really bad, especially when they first start a new bag. Use your breathing if this becomes necessary for you. Also antibiotics can lead to yeast infections, for you and baby. If you test positive, eat lots of yogurt to help reduce that risk. Yeast infection (in your vag) just after giving birth is probably excruciating! And you can get them on your nipples too, and your baby can get a yeast infection in his/her mouth.
Avatar f tn Then after I gave him the dose yesterday he ate some boiled turkey and some nonfat Greek yogurt. So in the evening I gave him the supplement they gave for liver and he threw up 90 min later. Today not eating. It says take antibiotics with food. But I’ve tried fried egg, baby food, boiled chicken with rice and some turkey. Not taking anything and not drinking water. Should I try one more dose of clavamox? It seems to make him want to eat but since he’s empty I don’t know what to do.
Avatar f tn I'm so glad you're working to get some clarification here, because I'm confused about what type of probiotics are best and how to protect the gut while avoiding yeast overgrowth. Here is some text from the Burrascano guidelines (2008 version), which are freely available online so I do not think I'm breaking any MedHelp rules by posting them: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.
Avatar m tn yes it can, try eating yogurt one cup a day
Avatar f tn Actually yeast is not good when baby is going to pass through the birth canal... but you are still early. If they are putting you on antibiotics take probiotics with them & eat plain greek yogurt. Every time I have ever had to take antibiotics I eat tons of greek yogurt & take probiotics & it keeps me from getting yeast infections. I also squirt greek yogurt up inside & yeast goes away...
684508 tn?1234917191 I don't really know if I have an answer for you, but have you taken any probiotics since you've finished your antibiotics? The problem with antibiotics is that they kill all the bacteria that are supposed to live in the gut. Don't use dairy products such as yogurt to get your probiotics either, because they are pasteurized products and don't have the right amount of probiotics for the gut. You need to go to a health food store or a supplement store and ask about probiotics.
Avatar m tn The best thing you could try would be a Pro-biotic. This will replace the "good" gut bacteria (which you need, and which can be very disturbed by anti biotics) Pro biotics can be found in "Live" yogurt. But if you hate yogurt, you can buy a multivit/mutimineral supplement which also contains a pro biotic in tablet form. Ask a pharmacist. The GI tract runs from the tongue to the anus......what affects one part is connected to the rest. Weird, but true!

Avatar f tn And I threw UTI in there since you said it hurt to pee. You should call your ob ASAP to get antibiotics. Especially being so close to the end. If it is a yeast infection and not treated beefier delivery you could pass it on to your baby.
Avatar f tn Is she complaining of discomfort, itch, etc.? If not, give this a bit of time. Maybe add some probiotics into the mix in yogurt or the new drinks they have that are a bit like a smoothie. What they will probably do if she continues to have UTI's is check her ureters and kidneys. My niece had frequent UTI's and she turned out to actually have a third kidney. More common than you think and the third kidney led to frequent UTI's. she had it removed at about 8 years old.
Avatar m tn t seem like I can gain weight like I used too. Does anyone know if antibiotics can do this because maybe it killed all the good bacteria in my stomach and now I am no longer absorbing good nutrients from what I eat? If this is so, will the good bacteria grow back eventually? I know I can take probiotics and eat certain things like yogurt or kefir but I want to know if the good bacteria will grow back on its own.
Avatar m tn Taking yogurt simultaneously with many other antibiotics will result in a sub-therapeutic level of drug in the bloodstream, causing spread of the infection, with the possibility of death. Two classes of antibiotics that should never be taken with yogurt are the tetracyclines and the quinalones (Cipro being such an example). (Ref: Drugs, 1976 11(1):44-45). The bio-availability of these medications is significantly destroyed. (Clin. Pharmacol. Ther. Nov50: 498-502).
Avatar n tn ve heard others say they also had to find other avenues for their psoriasis (skin) but Psoriatic Arthritis is primarily what I was interested in. I wonder if your doc told you not to take the yogurt at the same time as the minocycline. The calcium in the yogurt interferes with the antibiotics ability to "do the job." check out the Road Back Foundation website for more info.
Avatar m tn While my old one was on antibiotics we were giving them soy yogurt and discovered she took her pills no problem when hidden in the yogurt. Recently though I was told soy is bad for dogs. I havE them plain soy yogurt because its lack of dairy and sugar. They didn't seem to have any problems with it, is it safe to give my pups?

317787 tn?1473358451 Tetracycline, Minocylinum, Guamecycline, Oxytetracycline, Doxycyline, Methacycline, and Demethylchlortetracycline. When used in larger doses, antibiotics in this family can cause jaundice, fever, and fatty liver. Hepatitis patients should be very wary of this group and alert their doctor immediately of their liver condition and ask for substitutes. 2. Erythromycin family The following antibiotics belong to this family: Erythromycin, Erythromycin Estotate, Erythromycin ethylsuccinate.
Avatar f tn I'm not a doctor but it sounds to me like you got a yeast infection from the antibiotics for the urinary tract infection. A lot of doctors recommend eating yogurt while on antibiotics so you don't get yeast infections. You might want to try eating it now perhaps it will help. If you do you need to make sure it's yogurt with live bacteria. Hope this helps!
674702 tn?1236335386 Ear wax is not a reason for causing dizziness but looking into the ear when someone complains of dizziness is quite normal. Ear infections that can sometimes be evident in the outer ear can cause dizziness. Pain or irritation in one or both ears; swelling, redness, discharging mucus, scaling, and crusting can be seen by looking into the ear canal and are all signs of infection. Fever also accompanied with any of these is a definite sign.
