Avatar n tn Does anybody know if scarlet fever scars or causes loss of pigmentation? recently getting over, but skin has not healed while some parts look white and some are still red?? And would sunbathing help to dry out or just make scarring worse?
Avatar f tn Hi Odette72, If you were never treated for Scarlet fever you can get long term complications from it like Rheumatic fever or kidney problems. Also, fever, pneumonia, throat abscesses, ear infections and skin infections. Most people don't get the complications but it can happen and that is why they treat this with antibiotics early on. Maybe you can see an infectious disease doctor. Do you have any problems with your kidneys or heart? If not that hopefully you will be okay.

Avatar n tn I am asking whether I could get this from my partner they show no signs at all but in the last week their hands have started to peel in exactly the same way mine are following the scarlet fever rash. I am worried that this may not be scarlet fever but something more, is there any std that comes across this way. My Doctor has said that is highly unlikely I was infected from my partner following their treatment or that I was reinfected from them following my antibiotics course.
Avatar f tn We took him to the doctor and he diagnosed Scarlet fever. He priscribed Amoxicillin for 10 days. He started taking it and 3rd day his fever was gone, rash was gone. I sent him to day care for one day as I had to go to office and he came back with minor fever again. We thought his antibiotics is still not finished may be he will be fine. Next morning his legs badly hurt. Then I notice he was starting pink eye.

Avatar n tn Hi, How old is your child? There are differentials for a rash in children who present with fever. At this point, given your child's age and the presentation of the rash, scarlet fever and hand, foot and mouth disease are differentials. As for scarlet fever, the rash usually develops a day or two after the onset of fever. Prior to his your child complains of pain in swallowing, weakness or easy fatigability, decrease in appetite and for some nausea and vomiting.

Avatar n tn the disease usually comes along a couple of weeks after someone has popped up with a stubborn strep infection like strep throat or scarlet fever (which is almost unheard of these days w. the scarlet fever). The parts of your body that can be effect is your heart, brain, joints of your body mimicking rheumatoid arthritis and believe it or not your skin. It is considered to be an inflamatory disease in other words causing any of these parts of your body or a portion of them to swell up.
Avatar n tn I know it is very hard when the dr's can not tell you what is wrong with your child. My 8 year old passed away not to long ago...it started out that she would get pneumonia twice a year until she was about 5 then last summer she started coughing and needing an inhaler alot..i toook her to the dr every week for them to say she had a virus or a cold...finally after months of this they gave her a cat scan and said she had a massive sinus infection. she never fully got better from this..
Avatar f tn This tells me that s/he suspects an infectious pathogen (bacterium or protozoan), evading detection from both your immune system and the testing (you can add evading the action of the antibiotics so far) and hiding in the tissues away from the blood circulation. It's a wait and see situation. Please consider taking some good probiotics to undo the damage from these 2 courses of abx by replenishing your healthy bacteria. I hope this helps. Best Wishes.
Avatar f tn You can try a salve by mixing 3 parts baking soda , 1 part water and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and apply gently on the affected areas. No rubbing though! Also do a few rounds of tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) several times daily to help alleviate any psychological effects and stress from dealing with all this. Just look it up!

Avatar f tn Hey there, I'm a 20 year old female concerned about catching something after having a man (of unknown status) ejaculate in my mouth twice. Five days after, I woke up with a swollen/sore throat and red, sunburn-like rash covering my groin, buttocks, breasts & surrounding area, but it didn't itch and I no fever. I had slept with a tampon in, and was concerned about TSS, but had no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn Hello, You have not mentioned your daughter’s age. If your daughter is a child then the possibility of rocky mountain spotted fever, Kawasaki disease and scarlet fever are there. Rash in all these involves the palms and soles and is a red, shiny rash. Investigations and blood tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Also, besides pus, do you have a high fever? Any swollen lymph nodes? You can get a strep test at CVS pharmacy as they have a physician assistant there if you don't want to go to the doctor. It is better to go to the doctor for a strep test though because sometimes you can get false negatives from the strep test. But it is fairly accurate. If it is negative the doctor can send it for culture. I don't know if CVS will do that. It is a thought.
Avatar f tn If you haven't contacted your doctor about the rash yet, I would immediately.
