As with all medications, you may experience side effects when you take WELLBUTRIN XL. Side effects may be more common shortly after you start treatment. The most common side effects with WELLBUTRIN XL are weight loss, loss of appetite, dry mouth, skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, trouble sleeping, muscle pain, nausea, fast heartbeat, sore throat, and urinating more often.
Your general doc is wrong, of course. This is why you see a psychiatrist. And my guess is, if these drugs are working, your problem very well may be depression, especially if wellbutrin worked -- it's one of the most stimulating of the antidepressants which is why it doesn't cause the weight gain that most antidepressants cause.
t have any neg effect together usually and are often perscribed together, to be sure I would call an all night pharmacist or your local pharmacist, they can give you more professional advice, I do it all the time. JUst ask them if you can tak ethe two together and they can tell you if you need to look for or worry with side effects, but I would think it is fine.
I am surprised that you doctor put you on Wellbutrin for anxiety considering it is not commonly prescribed for anxiety alone but rather depression.. it actually is known to increase anxiety due to the over-stimulating effects it has. I am taking both Wellbutrin and Klonopin (clonazepam) and I have found the Wellbutrin to increase my anxiety. Be careful with the clonazepam because it is addicting.
I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg for about 6 months...I recently started taking once a day SR...to me the SR is less effective...I don't fell anything...it doesnt really feel like it curves my depression. I only tried it to compare the difference...I prefer the 2x a day I feel much better and actually feel it working...thats just my personal experience...however when I talked to my M.D. the switch wasn't harmful I guess its the chemical reaction to ur brain/body...good luck!

All in all, if you want to try this for quitting smoking I say go for it! If you want to try Wellbutrin XL for anxiety and depression, I say go another way. Ask for other options. What I have been feeling like for the past week is definitely not worth it. (I am out of work so I have been lucky not having to worry about these "side effects" affecting my work performance.

I am also taking Wellbutrin XL and have experienced missed periods. I've been to two doctors- both claimed that my missed periods were attributed to stress and/or increased exercise and not Wellbutrin. Though valid reasons, I do think that Wellbutrin XL is playing a factor. You're not alone, but it might be a good idea to see a doctor.
I started the Wellbutrin XL 150mg about 2 weeks ago. No side effects, or positive effects - really, no effect at all.
I just went up to the 300mg (it's been 2 days), and I want to make sure my side effects are normal. I have a call into my doctor as well.
I have had a dull, constant headache. A little light-headed if I get up too quickly. Haven't been sleeping well, but that's not too bad. The worst symption I'm having is lower back pain...
Can you please tell me if Wellbutrin XL will help with anxiety issues. Or can the medication Cymbalta be of better use?
m on 225 reg. Wellbutrin. The XL, extended release tablets stayed in my system long into the evening strong and kept me from being able to sleep well.
I take it first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up.
5 mg for when needed. Then after having tachycardia still I started metoprolol 25 mg (which I cut in half) to help with daily anxiety and lower my heart rate. It has definitely lowered my heart rate but I still don't feel right. Still have an uneasy feeling and tightness in my chest. I was also given celexa 20 mg weeks ago but I have been scared to start it. I suppose it and the wellbutrin will go together well since one is an NDRI and one is an SSRI.
My doctor started me on Wellbutrin XL 150mg and I felt great the first couple of days, however I now get very depressed in the afternoons, dwelling on the past - how I could have done things better and how messed up my life is now, the doc wants to increase the dose to 300mg but these pills are expensive!! I can't afford to pay $120/month just for these....isn't there anything cheaper that would help?
i take paroxitine too but at a very low dose and it still makes me tired. what dose are you on? you may need to cut way back on it. wellbutrin is a stimulating med so i don't think that's the problem. the other two i'm not sure about. i wish i could help more. i really think it's the paroxitine. check with your dr. before cutting down or changing any of your meds. take care.
Does Wellbutrin become ineffective after long term use? Do people develop anger issues over time? One doctor told me that these effects are felt early, but would not present after years of use, and today a Psychiatrist told me that my recent emotional (angry) responses were caused by the Wellbutrin and that I needed to change to Lexapro. I'm confused. Can you tell me which is the better answer?
Well, no not three years ago I didn't even suffer from anxiety. It was just mostly depression from like deaths in the family. My Xanax is 1mg, my wellbutrin is 150mg XL. I'm sorry I didn't provide much information previously...Honestly..I didn't think anyone would help me.
The sex drive is good to know. Citalopram also gave me that side effect. I am glad the Wellbutrin did not make you gain weight. I wonder how long until it is out of my system. The doctor said if i quit cold turkey on Citalopram, it can cause bad side effects. That's why I am taking half a pill of it. I know you are not a doctor, or maybe you are, but how long until you think the Citalopram is out of my system? Thanks!
I have been on a 300 mg dose of Bupropion XL for about a half year now. I also am on a 100 dose of Zoloft. I was originally on only Zoloft but it wasn't working well so I got put on Bupropion XL which worked. I take Trazidone when needed for my sleeping issues. I never had any side affects from it until recently. I've noticed that in the past month I would get nausea after I take Bupropion, as well as feeling jittery and tense.
