Common Questions and Answers about Can you break percocet in half

percocet

Avatar f tn honey, i would break them in half and wait until you start to feel the withdrawal symptoms begin, then try a half. you are going to have withdrawal. i have been off them for about a month and it was hard. i went to the doctor that was giving them to me. i brought him a copy of the thomas recipe(lower right of this page) and he prescribed me some valium to use for the first 5 days. i was on darvs for like 20 years taking about the same amount as you. if you want to pm me, please feel free.
689267 tn?1235241749 are you talking about the 5 mg percocet...i used to break mine in half but i don t know about 4ths...i think it would be safe....
Avatar f tn Hi blay. I used a much larger amount. Everyone is different. If you want to stop and are worried about getting sick, break them in half and take half a day for a week and see how you feel. You shouldn't feel very sick from 10 mg. Good luck.

Avatar f tn Unless you are taking other medications not listed, I do not think you could have experienced serotonin syndrome.
Avatar m tn .i have had two back surgeries (fusions) and require at least two more, i have advanced degen/disc disease, also have a shunt for psudotumor cerebri, so the back surgs gets complicated, i have also nodes/spinal stenosis, arthritis in my si joints, and the list goes on, cuz i cant quite remember the bigger words they used for all the issues.
Avatar m tn She does take Oxy 40 and percocet for break through pain. Maybe she had the two mixed up. I do know medicaid pays 5 to 8 times more for items than the VA does.
386968 tn?1217351972 Just enjoy the time you have right now, and when the w/d symptoms start, be strong and remind yourself that you can get through this. You have made the right choice in quitting! In a few days, you'll be feeling better and then can get on with your life!
8487796 tn?1398343727 the opana and percocet can give false positives. They usually send the urine off to a lab which breaks it down to the specific drug.
Avatar f tn then see if you can break that in half and take 2.5 at night and so on. That way you can ease yourself off without a shock. Read my blog, which you can easily find by clicking on my name about other options, but I think you can do it. I believe in you. And stick with it, please, you must believe in yourself!
Avatar m tn ive now been taken percocet for 15 months straight with no break. i was up to 4 - 5/325mg tablets. i am now down by half of that and the first half was no fun. i decided to get down by the 2 pills then had to work for a month now i have time off and wondering if the second part of this will be worse then the first. i was looking at alot of the people on here and it looks like i actualy have it much easier because i have just taken much less then them.
Avatar f tn Yes, there are other medications you can try, but there are also other treatment modalities you need to explore. Can your physician refer you to a good pain management doctor? Also, you're taking too much tylenol -- this will cause liver damage over time. Please limit your tylenol to 3 g per day -- this is 6 - 500mg "extra strength" pills. There is tylenol in Percocet. In the mean time, please ask your doctor to rotate you to roxycodone which does not have tyelnol.
Avatar f tn Maybe try what the other posters said and cut your pills in half to see how you do on them. You might do just fine or you may need an increase but really think about doubling it right away. I hope everything works out for you and you're able to get all of your doses right while keep your pain at a tolerable level.
1264863 tn?1391118193 You can break those 10 mg. Percocet in one half or one quarter to help you taper down. Are you sure you absorb liquids better than solids? The other thing to do is to call your physician for help. With a chronic illness that may be the best.
Avatar n tn It is deceitful though and can be very addictive itself. Best of luck to you as you try to break free from this demonic drug. Lots of help here - keep posting.
979261 tn?1248642848 t do this, but the craving is still there even if it comes and goes. You can do it. Look at all who have made it so far. You can be one of them too.
Avatar f tn Withdrawal is no fun no matter what route you go. Drink lots of fluids, take as many hot baths/showers as you can handle, and keep yourself busy especially when you don't want to. Withdrawal is more mental than anything. Expect to feel like absolute **** for a while. No sleep, no appetite, hot/cold sweats, body jerks, anxiety. But like they've said... nobody ever died from it. You just have to stick it out and tell yourself you NEVER have to go through this again.
Avatar m tn Second if you were not prescribed these medications you could find yourself in big trouble. But I assume you already know that. Your physician will frown upon this at the very least. Indeed he may discharge you if you are in a PM program. In my opinion you have broke his trust. No matter what your pain level may be never take anything that is not prescribed for you specifically. I agree that Darvocet is not an effective narcotic for relieving pain for most ppl.
Avatar f tn - - wish that it worked that way!! Arent you far enough up the political ladder that you can assign this narc problem to an aide to take care of? Just a thought.........hang tight!
890735 tn?1261421725 Again, this is one reason your doc might tell you you can take a short acting narcotic such as the percocet or vicodin or something like that to help you through until the patch can start working for you. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted. If I can answer any more questions, please let me know.
1161075 tn?1262988428 I am in the same boat you are in, as soooo many of us are. I have been on pain management for 10years as well. I am concerned about the amount of tylenol in the Percocet (I take the 10's 4 to 6 times a day) and have tried and tried to discuss this with my PM doc, who is soon to be replaced.
Avatar m tn I'm I having withdrawl or not I stopped taking percocet 40 hrs ago and lying in bed tonight my hands and shoulders were aching so bad I was tossing and turning I got up and took 2 10's Percocet and 1 10 Oxycontin and now I'll spend the rest of the night in my recliner , The question is, is my pain a reaction to stopping the Percocet . I've gone through this time and time again only to have the pain over whelm me .
Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone else has the same issues i have and can explain what is happening. My doc changed my medicine from OXYIR to Percocet a week and a half ago. I am normally in bed around 11:00 am and I take Zanaflex that helps me relax before bed. Now here is the kicker, I wake up around 3:00 a.m. almost every morning yawning and I can not go back to sleep. IT almost feels like I am going through mini withdrawals. Will I eventually get a full nights sleep again?
