Common Questions and Answers about Can pancreatitis kill you

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Craig, I can relate to you, my family has a long history of pancreatitis disease. My grndmother dies from pancreatic cancer, my father has alcoholic pancreatitis, and my sister has pancreatitis. Many DR. we have talked with say this disease is NOT hereditary but I feel that in many cases it is. My father was an alcoholic most of my life, now recovered he has this lasting effect. His pancreas is severly damaged, the DR said if he drank again it would kill him.
Avatar f tn But her pancreas will not be able to add the needed enzymes for digestion anymore. You can talk to her doctor about adding some enzyme supplements to compensate for this. Also, lower fat diets will help as well.

Avatar m tn DO NOT **** AROUND with this. It can kill you. If you have extreme abdominal pain go to the ER. Not a med-stop and ER. I speak from personal experience. I survived it. But some people don't.
Avatar f tn There is a huge difference between being fine with 0 damage and fine with stage 2 damage. Even if you do not want to do treatment to kill the disease you will now have to 'watch and wait' and that means getting a biopsy every year or so to make sure the liver damage is not advancing. It can take someone 20 years to get to stage 2 and then all of a sudden in just a very short amount of time they can advance to cirrhosis. It doesn't follow any linear pattern at all....
Avatar n tn This makes sure your decline is gradual and smooth. ***If you feel like you can, you can taper even faster or go cold turkey. Opiate w/d WONT kill you (alcohol and benzo w/d can be dangerous if not done right). Use your pancreas problems as motivation! W/D WILL be uncomfortable, but it WILL END and can be minimized with support and supplements (use these forums for additional ideas). ***Assuming you sleep 6-8 hours Day 1: Take 1 pill every 3 hours while awake - should be about 5-6 pills.
Avatar f tn He knows what to do and only he can do it. You can love him, and forgive him from a far, but you don't have to accept abuse. Or you can go on a horrible roller coaster ride, probably for the rest of your life. You are too young for that. Nobody - no matter how much love - can save someone who is unable or unwilling to follow a doctor's advice (and common sense).
Avatar n tn Keep trying and do not feel like a failure if you relapse,All of the people I know who are ex drug addicts and have NEVER relapsed have had a PROFOUND change in their view of their lives, you are dealing with a dilemma that is so difficult, and all of the answers are within you, although at times you may think the problems exist in the outside world, unless you can change them, you need to alter your interpretation of that world/your life, society, etc.
233616 tn?1312790796 I lost a 2 pager t0 a gal and had t redo…am now in Word,,and will cut and paste it over…only way to ensure you can retry if a post gets lost in cyberspace. you might want to ASK If someone deleted a post...instead of accusing them next time. I don't even know HOW to delete someones posts (other than I guess you can report offensive people and the moderator will decide to delete it. >>>>>>>>>>>>I was wrong to compare you this way...sorry.
Avatar n tn I am a 24 year old female from Sydney Australia, and i just want to say that i can relate to everything that all of you have stated as symptoms of thalassemia Minor. When i was 12 years old i began getting these really intense migrains and i would loose my vision to the point that all i could see was like a white sheet over my eyes, i though i was going blind...
877337 tn?1249848050 Beacuse when i was little hyperthyroid then my OB/gyn said if it bothers more you can see ENDO as i was little Hyperrange. Then I was admitted in ER for pancreatitis then they said my levels of Hyperthyroid are went high which needed immediate treatment. Then i started om Methimazole .After few months my LIVER levels came little bit up and my antibodies were also high.
Avatar n tn Friends lent me money to pay for a second opinion. If you can get to a university hospital do so asap! I would encourage you to get a copy of your medical records in there entirity. They may try to give you a summary but do not let them, get everything including hard copies of xrays. One of my old doctors who was the head of my case had written that a very important test was normal but according to the radiologist report and two other specialists it clearly was not.
777686 tn?1235808014 From this experience you will build character, show a testament of your will power and make you believe you can accomplish anything. Yes my friends we are the strong ones not the weak ones!
541465 tn?1219431486 or find out how much Phenergan you can take to make sure your other meds make you high? You need to go to your doctor and ask for help. That is a suicide waiting to happen, Its lethal to be taking all that together and that high isnt worth it.
Avatar n tn Who wants to rot in hell for eternity, you know what I mean? I had heard more than once if you kill yourself you don't go to heaven. I wasn't sure if I really believed in heaven or hell but I wasn't taking the chance. Being the addict that I am, I want the easier softer way. I don't think suicide is easy or soft. Hang on you just have to stay clean for awhile. Sorry to tell you this but you are making it worse when you take the pills here and there.
793908 tn?1294708709 After reading many of your posts, I am trying to prepare for any of the many awful things that can happen to her, at moments notice. My heart goes out to all of you with a sick dog. Feel free to contact me for any info that you need. I will do my best to help. If anyone has suggestions for me, I'd be glad to hear them.
Avatar f tn I am not trying to make you feel bad, but if you feed her people food while she has pancreatitis you COULD kill her! Dogs are not made to digest human food as we prepare it for ourselves, and the fats in the foods that we eat are horribly bad for even healthy dogs, but they are a death sentence for a dog with pancreatitis. Please contact your vet as soon as you can and tell them what happened and let them take it from there.
Avatar f tn My question is malabsorption can cause your ribs to cramp, as if you don't have enough Potassium? Can it also be caused by the Pancreas, they hurt bad and there is no warning. How if this is dietary do I absorb when I take enough Ultrase to kill a horse so to speak.
790669 tn?1465192699 Earlier in the day of my mom being rushed to the ER my uncle tried to kill himself. My hubby had to get the gun out of his hands and away from his head. UGH!!!!!!!!!! THEN My other uncle was rushed to ER with a blockage going to his heart. Avatar n tn By the time they finally diagnosed her correctly after more than a year, she had scarring on her pancreas and was on her way to pancreatitis. Jaybay on this board can tell you her experience of severe scar tissue that causes her much grief to this day. But it certainly is possible to deal with stones naturally. But get the facts and know what your doing if you decide to go that route.
Avatar m tn well normally if you drink quite a bit you can develop fatty liver or pancreatitis (even small amounts of asprin can set it off). Liver tests would be elevated and accurate but testing for the pancrease is only accurate during the acute phase but over time (let's say this is chronic weeks and months long) then the testing is not as accurate because the pancrease gets used to not functioning 100% and elevated enzymes are not caught in blood tests.
Avatar f tn Clothing should be washed in hot water or treated with pyrethroid insecticides to kill mites. I suggest you to consult physician for proper evaluation. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn It's a organ that can cause silent symptoms that may not be picked up until changes become very obvious. Alcohol isn't the only thing that can impact the pancreas. Gallbladder issues and autoimmune pancreatitis are some other things that might want to be checked out.

Avatar f tn I chose to live with the pain since mine is not that bad and ercp can give you pancreatitis than can kill you. Chronic pancreatitis can cause daily pain. Alot of people are on pain meds to help this out. Some have found relief through antioxidant vitamin therapy. Some have went so far as to have a puestow procedure, a whipple or total pancreas removal since they could not deal with the pain. There is a great group on yahoo groups called a ray of hope.
