can i take prilosec and zantac

Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.

I take 40 mg of prilosec a day and it works amazing

My RE and my OB both said I could take Zantac 150 - - didn't want me to take Pepto Bismol (b/c it has aspirin in it) or Prilosec OTC (it's a category C).

the last month of my pregnancy i had such bad acid reflux and the doctor told me to take zantac and if that didnt work to take prilosec. my baby is only 5 weeks old so my doctor gave me the ok not that long ago.

Can you please tell me if you can take Nexium 40mg. and Zantac 75mg. together or on the same day. My GI doctor has me on Nexium 40mg. and my PCP wants me to take Zantac 75mg. at night before I go to bed. Is it safe, and can I take it with Xanax 1mg. I have GERDS and Barrett's Esophagus. And they both think it mjght be causing these little pinpoint pimples in my mouth, tongue, and throat.

I'm on Nexium, 20 mg a day, and have been for 5 years. Within the last six months they diagnosed me with PVCs, 8500 a day on average, when I never had them before. Naturally I'd like to get rid of the scary things. But how can you just go off Prilosec or Prevacid without getting acid rebound? I'd like to get off it because too little stomach acid can cause anemia, osteoporosis, and B12 deficiency. PPIs have been implicated in all of these.

I would try Zantac first. If it doesn't work, then you can try something stronger like Prilosec. Keep in mind, Prilosec may come with a lot of side effects that can be just as bothersome as the GERD. I was prescribed Prilosec and took it for six weeks until I couldn't take it any longer. Too many side effects for me. It basically blocks acid from the stomach, and while it is effective at getting rid of heartburn, you may experience a rebound once you stop taking them.

Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.

I was told do NOT take Prilosec With the new NS5A and NS5B drugs. it's been proven it has an adverse effect. I'm on the Sofosbuvir/5885 and Prilosec is on the Do Not take list. I usually take Zantac and asked if this was ok, and was told during my treatment Zantac was OK. I didn't question the difference but said OK no Prilosec. Anyone on the new Sofosbuvir told this same thing?

i had to take a zantac in the morning then durring the day tums and then another zantac an hour befor i ate dinner and it still hurt to where i was crying some nights. and you best believe the old wives tell was true for me, my baby had a head full of hair and hasnt lost any of it.

I take zantac and tums but tums really doesn't seen to do anything for me .

Take painkillers and up comes the reflux and all the other crap. Can't win...I'm now 66 and can tell you that the 'golden years' are here at last, and they can kiss my a...se! Try the zantac this way instead of regular tabs and see how you get on. It works instantly by the way.

Zantac will not hurt the baby. I took it my whole first pregnancy and she is 5 now and healthy. You can get it at walmart but if the doc prescribes it insurance may cover it.

It's good that you are seeing a GI as this is their specialty. If the blood is dark and you say you have stomach problems it may be inflammation, or a bleeding ulcer, which is not serious. If the blood is bright red, at your age I would say hemmorrhoids. At your young age it's rarely is anything serious, plus, all your tests were normal. The GI will be able to tell you for sure and it won't be anything that can be healed.

My friend recommends frozen cantaloupe.

Take some OTC antacid like Mylanta. You can also take zantac(ranitidine)or prilosec (omeprazole).These will help. Also keep your fluid electrolyte balance optimum by drinking lots of fluids. If the symptoms worsen then it may be due to H.Pylori infection. You need antibiotics in that case after prescription from a physician. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

I've raised my head at night. I haven't tried prevacid or prilosec. My doc prescribed me zantac in august so I've continued using it. I may try one of those to see if I get any relief because the zantac really isn't working.

I had severe heartburn and took Zantac from week 14 all the way to 41 weeks. I took 1/2 the dose prescribed though b/c I was paranoid about medications, but I HAD to take it because the pain was intense. Zantac is considered relatively safe while pregnant - the safest of all the heartburn meds - and it worked GREAT... highly recommend it. You can ask your doc to switch you to that if you want... My son is perfect and wonderful.
