THANK YOU!!! Yes this is sooo helpful! I will def have to go out and get this Zyrtec or claratin. I didn't know you could give them these things, all I knew is that benadryl was safe and I gave him the children's kind so it wouldn't have alcohol in it. Pills are a pain but I'd rather give him pills now then deal with this itching. I feel so bad for him and I have a 10 month old who crawls all over and is covered in hair that's been shed.

You can take zyrtec, i used it through three pregnancies, doc okayed it, kids are healthy.

went to doctors 8 times, have been on 3 different antibiotics and prednisone and nothing has helped. I also take claritin and nasacort daily. Now am starting to get a burning feeling in my throat. I agree about the steroids. My cat's vet insists that cats process steroids differently than we do. Well, anyway, I couldn't afford to take the cat back to the vet check up that is required to get the prescription refilled. I do think my cat is better off with me just giving her 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec in a day when her allergies are bothering her the most. So, I'm not even giving it to her everyday. This is in line with what I do for myself with the antihistamine I use for myself.

Thank you, I was forced to cut it due to allergy testing and I could not take any antihistamines. My dr prescribed me prednisone which did not help much, but I am getting through it! Icing the itchy spots has helped get me through the worst of it. One week later and it is getting less severe but I'm still having bouts of itching... I hope it doesn't last 45 days!! It does help to know you went through a similar experience and how long it lasted for you...

It seems like Akira has seasonal allergies and dust allergies in addition to her food allergies. I woke up Thursday morning and my eyes were swollen shut. I started taking some Zyrtec and Benedryl, it helped a little and the swelling went down maybe by 50%. This morning I woke up and the swelling was worse than Thursday morning. I have only had this happen once before in my life. I switched from loratadine to Zyrtec and that actually has been controlling it, if I take a pill in the morning, mid-day and sometimes evening as well. I do have pretty severe seasonal allergies and my nose has been very stuffed up and itchy as well. I take zyrtec, zantac and benadryl for my allergies. Could this all be allergy induced?
