1609058 tn?1298089127 I will agree that Chantix is a dangerous drug. I had a friend that took this drug, became my worst nightmare and ended up in a psych ward. STEER CLEAR OF CHANTIX!!!!!!
984138 tn?1359813073 Hi Erin, I quit with chantix after smoking for 40 years and I think it worked well because, in the end, I really wanted to quit even though I didn't know just how much I wanted it when I began taking it : ) You should research it though as it can be harmful to younger people. As for taking his prescription, the first week is a half dosage so you might really need to get your own. It is expensive, but depending on how much you are paying for your smokes, it will be worth it in no time.
Avatar f tn Your words are very encouraging that we need to deal with this positively and that he can overcome this set back. The more I read the better I feel that anxiety can be managed and not a life stopper. I have read the other postings and they were also a great help. One nailed it to say that I should have done some research and regret that daily. Thanks to all!
Avatar f tn by the eighth day I found myself just sitting on my couch all curled up like my muscles were contracting and I was just kinda like a zombie. I decided I would not continue to take the chantix since it felt like I was becoming catatonic or something. I wouldn't be surprised though if it's the med causing your headache. Did you get to the doctor yet? Hope you are feeling better.
Avatar f tn Today is Thursday. I had my last cigarette on Tuesday. I am using Chantix. I have been having headaches. Almost a cluster type. Severe pain but short lived in addition to a dull ache that goes down into my neck. I am hoping it is a symtom of withdraw from nicotine and not the Chantix. Has anyone else had these type of headaches?
Avatar f tn I used Chantix but I don't drink very much, especially when taking a drug. I'm almost certain that "do not drink when using this medication" is there on the label somewhere.
Avatar f tn m bipolar with psychosis and am currently tapering off of ziprasidone 80mg twice daily. I totally dropped my second dose along with lamotrigine, and Lexapro. So right now I am currently taking ziprasidone 80 mg, chantix 1mg, topamax 50mg 3x day, and ropinirole for side effects 1 mg once a day. I can't believe I actually made it through the night last night.
444932 tn?1273980797 I hope the itching doesn't deter you and also that those will be the only symptoms : ) I too had a facial itch....my nose was itchy for weeks but I hung in got through it and the yukky stomach I also had from time to time. Other than that, I was amazed at how quickly Chantix made me crave less and less. For me, it was that "miracle" drug but there are many who would dispute that. All I know is that it worked for me and I am very grateful!
Avatar n tn A year ago in January I took the chantix pill to stop smoking. In March I became sick - there were days I honestly thought that I was going to die. So tired - gained tons of weight - Hard to breath at times - forgetful - loss of hair - acky joints - feet feel like they are being crushed - dry itchy skin - much more. It has now been a year, my t4 level is now at .433 I have gone from 150 to 137 and my tsh level does not seem to change much. Is there something more that we can be checking?

Avatar n tn I bought my first pack of cigarettes today and feel like **** for doing it. I need to speak with my psychiatrist and see if I can take Chantix.
Avatar f tn Can I take 40mg or over if Lexapro? Was on 40mg. One Dr put me back to 30mg but not working so started on Zoloft 75mg. Now weight can and I’m an emotional wreck. What. Anni do?

1951506 tn?1324588561 i have had depression for about 8 years now, i was on lexapro for a long time and it helped my depression for the most part but i think it wore off because it just didnt work anymore, i was put on wellbutrin a month ago, and since being on it i have felt so angry and irritable i literally lay in bed and cry or just be mad i want nothing to do with anyone and its just not a good thing so obviously i need to come off this, any ideas if this is something that is normal or maybe its just me coming o
596605 tn?1369946627 She recommended that I cut my Chantix dose in half, if it continues. So yes i am working very closely with my doc. Thanks for the kudos, the Chantix has really helped me , knock on wood.
Avatar m tn I took Chantix for 6 weeks and I haven't smoked in nearly 1 year and 2 months. Although Chantix is generally prescribed for 3 months, and it really should be taken for that long, it is rather expensive and some try to stop using it before the recommended time. I smoked for 38 yrs. and I thought I would die a smoker. The defining moment came when my doctor asked me to "just try chantix, what do you have to lose".
Avatar f tn Im just wondering if it is OK to take them together. I just want to find out as much as i can befor i start chantix. Please give me as much info as possible.
Avatar f tn ( It probably would help me, because currently I'm unemployed and have been for a long time, and constantly trapped in my head by obessive bad thoughts. And I lack motivation and social skills. Should I take the Lexapro? I'm so scared of side effects. I take .5mg Xanax as needed but it doesn't scare me as much because I keep hearing horror stories about ssri's. I also have heart palpitations and have to take a beta blocker for those. My docs tell me to take the Lexapro. Should I?
286124 tn?1214938528 I have taken chantix daily for about a year now. It works great for the urges with crack and meth. I can be a social drug user now and let the fiend at the door when I am done. Love it!
1807991 tn?1438779770 I found Lexapro helpful for panic attacks and on the rare occasion that I feel them coming on I take xanax immediately. I learned ways to prevent them and although it took practice I was quite successful. Basically, you have to learn how to just let them be when they do happen, fighting them and dreading them increases the anxiety and the severity of the attacks. Look into it...best of luck.
Avatar m tn and a month later and not taking it. i still have it. I also quit drinking with using Chantix. I wasn`t an alcoholic or anything , but the taste of alcohol still tastes like rubbing alcohol to me.... I am proud that I quit, sad that I lost my baby, and dying to get a decent nights sleep. And I am supprised my fiance hasn`t left me yet.
Avatar n tn Being that I too have had a partial hysterectomy 5 years ago I looked into if in fact I can still get pregnant and just fyi you can and it can be very harmful but this seems to make a bit more sense. They don't necessarily hurt just sore and can definitely tell they are a bit enlarged which is kind of nice. Much better than finding out you are pregnant. I'll take this as a side effect!
407029 tn?1253992623 They recommend that you use the Chantix for 3 to 6 months. I did so well with it that I was off it in less than 3 months. When you start forgetting to take it you know it's time to come off it. If I could, I we be a walking advertisement for Chantix. I had tried the patch, the gum, zyban and hypnosis in the past and got absolutely no where. Chantix is a wonder drug as far as I'm concerned. To me the benefits of Chantix far out way any of the risks.
427279 tn?1210919821 hi,i have been taking it about 2 weeks and ill be honest with you,i have such vivid dreams that i talk really loud in my sleep so i get woke up all night and im really bad depressed ...dont know if its from no sleep or the chantix its self ....i think im going to quit i cant take not getting no sleep....take care...
Avatar f tn I've been off Chantix for over 3 years and I'm still dealing with depression. Sure you can quit with the drug as it worked for my husband but if totally RUINED my life. I had a severse adverse reaction and had to stop the program in my 2nd last week when I was down to one cig every 3 days. I was extremely impulsive, hostile, agressive and suicidal and I had almost no control over myself. I had the crazy dreams along with the other typical side affects.
