467977 tn?1262714747 ativan is harder to get off of and your body will need more as you take it , its a short term med, klonopin is a long term med , you can take it when you need it, everyday or now and than i have had both ativan i take once every 6 months , but klonopin i can take when i need it and not worry about my body wanting more . i would think about it , taper off and than take one if you need it . talk to your dr about the two.
Avatar n tn Hi my doctor wants me to start on paxil on top of my ativan and risperdal does anyone know about paxil and what I can expect with this med I hate taking meds to begin with so I dont want to start another one if I don't have to. Any info wold be great. Thank you.
Avatar f tn My therapist diagnosed me with coping disorder with acute anxiety and a touch of depression. She recommended Ativan for me, though she's not an MD, she wanted me to talk to my doctor. I talked to my doctor and she disagreed with putting me on Ativan. She recommended Lexapro. I went to the pharmacy and my insurance wound up not covering it (it was a hundred and something dollars!). They contacted my doctor and she faxed over an authorization for a generic prescription for Paxil.
1499861 tn?1289180523 My doctor just prescribed Paxil to me today and I was wondering how long it will be before I can expect to feel the results. I was also given some Ativan to take the edge off and it seems to help. I look forward to any replies.
422220 tn?1256764529 The generic is lorazapam. I suppose they can all be habit forming but I've never had any problem with that with ativan. I just take it as needed.
Avatar m tn No not doing this on my own I was prescribed by my new doctor ativan paxil and a beta blocker, but at the moment taking only the ativan cause I'm still trying to work my way up to take the paxil and the xanax I used to take before all these but it's not prescribed to me it's prescribed to my grandfather Inlaw but am only taking one of those every night to help with sleep and it does.
Avatar m tn The doctor came to the house and wanted backround info on me when I was young from serve lead poisoning which I was in the hospital for 2 years for cause it was that bad, when I had my first panic attack how I coped with it without meds before and told him I worked which was good before I was on any of these meds not but I know 3 different meds I have to take everyday is hard you know and also said to the doctor that I've got a fear of taking pills and the xanax it took me a while to get
Avatar f tn After a trip to the dr I was diagnosed with anxiety. My primary doctor prescribed me paxil and ativan. I stopped taking the paxil and was told to just stay on the ativan. A few weeks after starting to take the ativan I started getting jittery inside when the medicine was wearing off. My therapist informed me that with ativan you can feel the withdrawal while coming down. Around the summer time I was feeling better and was able to wean my self off.
Avatar m tn Been a while since I posted on here, but having a bad panic attack and its day 12 of paxil I'm taking and the only side affect I have is no feeling in chest. The attack happened out of nowhere and I talked to my doctor yesterday about what's going on with paxil and ativan but still thinks I still need to take them for a few mores weeks but when I do get the attacks i feel that the Ativan is not doing anything, it's like a water pill I'm taking with no affect at all.
358304 tn?1409709492 Can I take ativan (.5mg) with Klonopin (.25mg) while weaning off the Klonopin and Paxil? Geez Louise. lol. Anyone? =) Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed .50 ativan(lorazapam) every 8 hours as needed for anxiety since the week of Thanksgiving. They made me too groggy so the Dr said I could cut them in half. I began taking .25 every 4 hours. My anxiety at the time was out of the blue and out of control. Attacks sometimes lasting less than an hour and sometimes all day. I was getting some relief for about 2 or 3 weeks.
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!
Avatar m tn Hi all, I am 32 years-old, and took Paxil for 2 days only approximately 3 months ago, in order to help me with anxiety related to breaking up with my boyfriend. I accidentally began with a whole dose of 20 mg, then the next day took the proper 1/2 dose of 10 mg, and then stopped the medication because I felt overly anxious and unable to calm down. Since then, I have been experiencing muscle twitching all over my body that has made it difficult to sleep.
Avatar f tn ok so the past few weeks ive been having extreme anxiety, tingling in fingers, arm pain, back and chest pain on and off (pressure, sharp pains, anything you can think of i've felt it), panic attacks. saw a cardiologist on tuesday, said i had a normal echo. last year and nothing would drastically change within a year, and normal ekgs and holter monitor recently. he also prescribed me propranolol , which i'm terrified to take because it drops BP and your heart rate.
Avatar f tn I have had Costrochondritis since Dec 2015. I also have anxiety. I'm on ativan and Paxil. I just upped my dose of Paxil to 10 mg about 6 days ago. Since I have, the burning in my chest is much worse. I also have ulcerative colitis. But its in remission. Can Paxil cause burning in your chest? Or more anxiety?
Avatar m tn My opinion is this taper is way way too fast for a long-time Paxil user. I would go a whole lot slower. I would also stop Paxil altogether and only when I was past any withdrawal would I start the Lexapro. So far you're doing pretty well, but this can be a tough slog for some people so I'd find out first if you're one of them. To avoid it as best you can, I'd take, as I say, as long as you need, not somebody's preordained schedule.
Avatar f tn My OBYGN gave me prescription for Ativan and Paxil. I was so scared to take the Ativan because of having some type of reaction from it. Finally today broke down and took it and it helped but seven hours later I'm starting to feel shaky again. I have not started the Paxil yet because I'm just nervous about taking it. I hate the way I'm feeling, it's interrupting my life. I just have never had this "doom and gloom" feeling and such so shaky inside.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good anxiety drug other than Paxil, Effexor or Lexapro. I was on Paxil for years and it worked well for me but my doctor switched me to Lexapro which made me extremely sick as did Effexor. Anyway, now I am about to go back on Paxil because it was the only drug that really worked for me and didn't make me sick but I have one problem.
Avatar n tn You stop by going to your doctor and working out a taper plan that is very slow. You absolutely must NOT just stop taking this med! A good taper plan will gradually step you down without too much discomfort, but I must be honest and let you know that it's not going to be an easy road. You will have to endure some pretty nasty times. You can do it if you're really motivated.
Avatar m tn Alright my doctor told me since I'm only taking half the pill which is 5 mgs instead of 10 mgs I should continue to take the paxil for a few more weeks but as of 3 days ago I've been having more panic attacks and depression is making it worse and I called my doctor and explained all this but only said to keep taking it for a few more weeks and the ativan that was prescribed to me as well but has not affect on me since I've been takin that for a while month now and still nothing from
358304 tn?1409709492 m not much help on whether to take your Paxil, but I feel for you. Can I ask you, what did the Dr. think caused the Labyrinthitis? I've had it myself for 3 weeks now, and am taking Zithromax for it. I'm just curious how long it lasted total for you. My Dr. thinks its allergies. But I'm having so much anxiety right now that I'm not taking any allergy meds until the antibiotics have cleared up the ear infection. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I now take 3mgs of ativan a day along with generic paxil. I have to say i have been feeling pretty good lately. Like everyone says just hang in there give the meds time. They will work just give them time.
Avatar f tn so i tried the 25mg today of paxil, then when my bf gets home ill take the 20mg of propnaolol (i only took 10 yesterday i was scared) and as far as the xanax to ativan, he said it was fine for me to take the ativan today. i think i really just need to get in and see a physciatrist!
Avatar f tn About 1 month ago I experianced an anxiety attack, I thought I was having a heart attack and I thought I was going to die. I had my boyfriend rush me to the hospital at 11pm and when I finally got in they did an EKG and a chest x-ray on me. They told me that my heart and lungs were fine and gave me a prescription for Ativan(1mg). I took that for about 3 weeks then i stopped taking it for a week and now my family doctor gave me a prescription for Paxil(10mg) to take for 30 days starting today.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed paxil and ativan originally. I tried the paxil for one day and did not like the side effects it was giving me. So I went to counseling to try and get over this without taking medications. Well a couple of weekends ago I had a really bad weekend. I went to my doctor because I was having abdominal pains and was thinking it was something serious (which is what my anxiety problem is: health concerns).
467977 tn?1262714747 I am not quite sure about your meds. I do take paxil also, but I don't remember it ever making me jittery like you. It sounds like you may need MORE, not less, of the paxil. OR THE PAXIL doesnot agree with you. Many times a person has to try more than one med to get it right. I wouldn't combine the ativan with the klonopin. Hopefully Ryan or someone else will post regarding your medication issue.
