can i take antibiotics during pregnancy

m pretty sure of that, because if it risks the baby in anyways, I am sure its illegal. I am not 100%, but I am sure they cant do that. I hate taking medications, I suffer from serious migrains, and HAVE to take medication... Docs wouldnt perscribe it if it was dangerous.

I took 3 different ones during my first and second pregnancies and had healthy babies.

s why at every ob visit they test your urine for one. Antibiotics are very low risk during pregnancy. With my first pregnancy I was on them 6 times.

I am going to get one of my wisdom tooth removed and I might need antibiotics, I am freaking out because I hate medicine specially while pregnant, I had a cold and headaches so far but I though it out and haven't taken any medication.... I know for a fact there are many antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy. Infact had to take some in the beginning for a uti, and bronchitis, i was hospitalized.

In the past i have been prone to them and i have always taken uristat for releif can i still take that now i would call my doctor but its sunday can anybody help me?

Did u get urine Dr test to determine uti?my doc said that its not good during pregnancy as it can cause pre mature rupture of membranes.

I was prescribed azithromycin before i new i was pregnant.. I have a throat infection and i am afraid to take the meds.. But i wa reading that if the infection isnt cleared it can go to the baby..

I can't say for sure because there are different types of antibiotics and different dosages, etc. But I can tell you that in my last pregnancy I needed to take antibiotics for a tooth problem and it didn't seem to effect that pregnancy. My son just turned 1 yr and seems prefect to me. ;-) I was really worried about it too but I didn't really have a choice. I needed the meds. Thankfully everything turned out well.

I been threw it with my first pregnancy n this one as well... Mines always came back twice Bcus the first meds I given didn't work well n my doctor had to give me something stronger I went threw this for both pregnancy... It was so annoying, but I agree with the lady above just drink plenty of water n be sure to take those meds.

Bactrim which is an antibiotic is NOT a safe antibiotic to take during pregnancy because it's a Class C and can be harmful.

Yes, my Dr gave me antibiotics for uti...I have had 2 so far during my pregnancy...yuck!

I'm also GBS + and all that really means is that I will be given IV antibiotics during Labour tomatoes sure my baby doesn't become infected. Roughly half of all women have GBS and don't know because it doesn't cause any problems for us. It isn't picked up until pregnancy because there is never a reason to test for it until then. Please have the antibiotics as there is a chance your baby could contact GBS in the birth canal and in some rare cases babies have died as a result.

I would just call the office to be safe and tell them you are pregnant and want to know if the antibiotic prescribed for you is safe during pregnancy. I took keflex and it made me break out in hives due to my pregnancy some antibiotics are safe during pregnancy that's one of them

I am hoping that I do not have to take them at all during this pregnancy as with my 8 year old I had to take them in 3rd trimester due to kidney infection and just recently my daughter had a water infection, two different antibiotics did not work for her, luckily the third cleared it up, I am worried my daughter has become immune to certain antibiotics due to me taking them in my pregnancy, it might not be that but it did put me off but it f you need them then there is nothing you can do

I think antibiotics are ok to take. I have been having UTI's off and on since I got pregnant (now 11w3d) and I have been on antiobiotics. I'm sure they won't harm your baby!!

A UTI is nothing to play around with. Left untreated it can travel to the kidneys and cause a kidney infection that can be dangerous to both you and your child. Amoxicillin is one of the most widely prescribed antibiotics during pregnancy and has not been shown to cause any harm to a human fetus. Take the medication to clear up the infection, the last thing you want is for it to get worse.
