can i take advil with valtrex

I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..

I have been on Valtrex for 8 days now. This is my first breakout. Can I use Polysporin on the sores that are starting to scab over to relief the itching and dryness? Also as a side, I have not been able to urinate without a catheter for 3 days. Could this be a side affect of the Valtrex or swelling of the genital area? My dr prescribed urispa which is a muscle relaxant for the urethra. Hopefully it will work. I also have shooting pains down my legs, shins, and feet.

m having a hard time reaching my doctor back home to renew this prescription (there are no refills left on this one.) I did take the first dose of Valtrex, thinking I had 12 hours to reach my dr and have the rx called in, however I haven't been able to reach him. I just found out that a family member has Acyclovir. My question is, can I take Acyclovir for the second dose, 12 hours after taking the first dose of Valtrex?

I agree with Pooh, take Tylenol. I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.

I have just been diagnosed with herpes. My doctor has pur me on Voltrex to help with the current outbreak and lidocaine to help with the pain. The lidocain only helps a little and wears off quickly. Between applications I feel like I have to get in the bath an soak for at least twenty minutes. I can barely walk cause everytime I move it stings so bad I almost fall to the floor. I can't go to the bathroom cause it stings so much that I have to get in a warm bath to sooth it.

Knowing that Flu like symptoms were a side effect, I did get a Flu shot in August, prior to tx. Today, right now, I really feel like I am fighting off a cold or Flu. Can I take something like Nyquil but without alcohol??? Thanks. Just took the day off sick yesterday, and don't want to be out tomorrow.

so with the doxy and the 3 advil, i would not want to take anything else. it is a weird/awkward procedure but it is not much worse than having a longer than usual exam/pap smear. you'll feel better if you are coherent and can understand what they are doing. they explain along the way and tell you what looks good/is normal as they go.

U can also take advil up to 28weeks....

shell, I have to take the Rebif mornings or it interferes with my sleep. I also have to take the oxycodone/acetaminophen in the morning or I can't move. ess. I am thinking along the same line...that the acetaminophen is enough. I was fine yesterday. And yes, the less medication the happier I am!! Just hoping it doesn't backfire on me.. As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches,fevers,muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches,pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...

Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.

advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma

I also discovered (I am a woman) that using a squirt bottle with tepid water while I am urinating and after I urinate helps tremendously with the burning from the pee. After that I dab dry, then either me or my husband sprays me down there with Solarcaine or Lanacaine. Dermoplast works the BEST, if you can find it. It doesn't burn so bad. Solarcaine is the worst as far as burning so I don't recommend it. Lanacaine was tolerable. This numbed me up for a good hour at a time.

I just dont wanna mess up and not know it! I get drug tested everyweek so I dont wanna take something I shouldnt. I also started taking wellbutrin, i noticed after around day 45 i was over the "clean and sober bliss" and started to feel down and didnt wanna get in bed, ate soo much. Four years ago I had protected sex/unprotected oral sex with a woman (I am male) and 3 days later had a terrible burning sensation on my penis and testicles. I am on Valtrex I take it everyday and I just don;t have sex. Beside the medication and a condom what else can we do to reduce the risk of her getting it? We tried to talk to some one before and they were not helpful. In fact we were looked at like a couple of stupid teenagers. We are both almost 30 yrs. old.

I know the Valtrex treatment is working for me and lord knows how horribly sick I was before the Valtrex, I am hearing that allot of Drs are saying no to using it as a treatment, show them Dr Lerner's study.. When I run out before my next script, I have bad withdrawels. I wish I could take something stronger but I am afraid to ask my Dr. These drugs control your whole life. and I want to stop. Nothing helps, advil, aleve are like candy and do nothing for my pain. Am I alone?

Valtrex or Famvir. You can't get them without a prescription from your doctor. Famvir is the cheaper of the two.
