Common Questions and Answers about Can i take advil with metformin

advair

Avatar n tn I am just wondering if there are any problems with drug interactions between Metformin and OTC meds like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Midol, Unisom, Allergy/Sinus meds, etc... Common things that a person might take for pain, sleeplessness, allergies, colds, etc?
Avatar f tn I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..
Avatar m tn 5 kgs , doctor now has prescribed metamorfin 500 mg saying its a sensitizer only for 3 months along with omega 3 ( Is this needed and ok to take ? or should i revert back to diet and excercise to reverse it or is it too risky and are there chances it will go to diabetic stage if i dont take metamorfin - can some one clarify?
2202729 tn?1377551205 I agree with Pooh, take Tylenol. I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.
643854 tn?1223590867 Clomid helps with ovulation, but for me I was taking metformin for about 6mo. and I had to take provera to start my period and I had clomid left over and I took the clomid on day 3 of my cycle on Aug08 and Sept08 found out I was pregnant now I'm 8wks, but some times clomid doesnt work for everyone with pcos because I was using clomid before the metformin and it didnt work at all for me.So just remember if it doesnt work right away keep trying and dont give up.
1559168 tn?1294731785 I was told recently that i have pcos, I have not had a period for 2 years and right now i am on provera 10mg a day for 10 days i will take day 7 in a few hours, i also have to start metformin today that are 500 mg 2 times a day... 1711722 tn?1356487554 Knowing that Flu like symptoms were a side effect, I did get a Flu shot in August, prior to tx. Today, right now, I really feel like I am fighting off a cold or Flu. Can I take something like Nyquil but without alcohol??? Thanks. Just took the day off sick yesterday, and don't want to be out tomorrow.
1116530 tn?1324913147 so with the doxy and the 3 advil, i would not want to take anything else. it is a weird/awkward procedure but it is not much worse than having a longer than usual exam/pap smear. you'll feel better if you are coherent and can understand what they are doing. they explain along the way and tell you what looks good/is normal as they go.
1897345 tn?1374265855 Yes I have PCOS and ttc. I take metformin. I know they can give you provera to start a period. I would continue to see my on or a re. Your going to have to be monitored if your periods are not coming and they have to prescribe something for you. Good luck ttc!
6323845 tn?1381188828 U can also take advil up to 28weeks....
Avatar f tn You can start taking it today if you have it already...and continue taking it everyday! It's not just a fertility drug.. You most likely have an insulin resistance (pcos?) and it will help with that!
Avatar n tn s about the time length when I noticed the difference. Not everyone is the same and it can take longer for others.
1394601 tn?1328032308 shell, I have to take the Rebif mornings or it interferes with my sleep. I also have to take the oxycodone/acetaminophen in the morning or I can't move. ess. I am thinking along the same line...that the acetaminophen is enough. I was fine yesterday. And yes, the less medication the happier I am!! Just hoping it doesn't backfire on me.. Thanks to both of you for responding. I just wondered how others have handled it....
801413 tn?1333539276 Metformin can take up to a year to regulate your periods. And if you were pregnant, you would not be having a period at all (except for abnormal bleeding). Have you lost any weight with being on metformin?
550035 tn?1263160204 Erm yes sorry take metformin and start progestrone today again before taking the clomid... I didn't take anything as i'd took an advil early in day to shift a head ache... O i hope its ovulation fingers crossed.
Avatar f tn As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches, fevers, muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches, pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...
Avatar f tn Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.
Avatar f tn advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma
1303537 tn?1317800741 I just dont wanna mess up and not know it! I get drug tested everyweek so I dont wanna take something I shouldnt. I also started taking wellbutrin, i noticed after around day 45 i was over the "clean and sober bliss" and started to feel down and didnt wanna get in bed, ate soo much. Anyways I really need something for my back let me know what you think.
Avatar f tn Yes you can concieve with pcos. I have pcos and have been pregnant several times. Hopefully clomid will do the trick for you. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn I also forgot to mention, I take Metformin 1000mg 1x a day. Could that contribute towards the elevated ALT?
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm in a similar situation I think I had implantation bleeding on may 26-27. I have yet to take a test b/c I'm not sure if it was ib it could have just been break through bleeding for me. which I've never had or it could be from the meds I take 1500mg of metformin and 2.5mg femara on cd 3-7. My advice to you is wait for your missed period I think you tested to early. I know it's hard to do but if you had implantaion bleeding then more than likely AF will not turn up.
