so with the doxy and the 3 advil, i would not want to take anything else. it is a weird/awkward procedure but it is not much worse than having a longer than usual exam/pap smear. you'll feel better if you are coherent and can understand what they are doing. they explain along the way and tell you what looks good/is normal as they go.

I would be careful taking Advil PM as it has an antihistamine in it and might make RLS worse. I mistakenly took Nyquil with an antihistamine in it and had the shakes real bad. So be cautious..

I agree with Pooh, take Tylenol. I think most hepatologists recommend it for liver patients, up to 2000 mg per day. NSAIDs (including Advil, Motrin, aspirin, pretty much every OTC pain-killer other than Tylenol) are contraindicated if you have liver disease.

Knowing that Flu like symptoms were a side effect, I did get a Flu shot in August, prior to tx. Today, right now, I really feel like I am fighting off a cold or Flu. You can always check in with your doctor and I would go slow getting back to it and stop if anything causes pain. You can also take an over the counter anti inflammatory for pain and swelling (such as ibuprofen). We wish you the best.

shell, I have to take the Rebif mornings or it interferes with my sleep. I also have to take the oxycodone/acetaminophen in the morning or I can't move. ess. I am thinking along the same line...that the acetaminophen is enough. I was fine yesterday. And yes, the less medication the happier I am!! Just hoping it doesn't backfire on me.. As some of you know I suffer from severe health anxiety...I started going through a particularly bad time last fall...I am constantly afraid of headaches,fevers,muscle aches etc..as a result of this I started taking advil constantly and I am up to about 10 to 12 liquigels a day..If I don't take them my anxiety goes through the roof and I start to imagine headaches,pain etc...this can't be good for me..and I don't know how to stop...

Danie i agree with you!! I don't like Tylenol. It doesn't work for me at all. Advil does the job.

advil is a minor anti inflammatory I have never heard of it prescribed for this before but it could help a little I suppose more widely prescribed for GM are some of the big anti inflammatories - particularly prednisone or methotrexate I did take Naproxen for some time, (months at a pretty high dose - it really attacks your stomach lining though so I went off), which I guess is a step up from advil, and is a non steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID), can't say if it helped with the inflamma

I just dont wanna mess up and not know it! I get drug tested everyweek so I dont wanna take something I shouldnt. I also started taking wellbutrin, i noticed after around day 45 i was over the "clean and sober bliss" and started to feel down and didnt wanna get in bed, ate soo much. My initial exam was the DRE with an enlarged prostate with warm feeling to touch along with tenderness. I was given 7-week treatment of Bactrim DS. I got sicker so went to the ER. My meds was changed to 3-week course of Doxycycline. Felt better towards end of third week. Things got bad again about a week later. Went back to regular doctor for another DRE & the NP thinks the infection(prostatitis, but what kind please?) wasn't fully gone.

You can take the medication with or without food. I was going to suggest hat you take it with milk but you cannot take it with milk or other dairy products, unless your doctor has told you to. Dairy products can make it harder for your body to absorb the medicine. According to the literature a select few brands of doxycycline may not have restrictions about taking them with dairy products. Any way I would be sure and take the meds with your meals as this should help ease the tummy upset.

The other thing is to keep up your intake of Vitamin C, Pepcid does nothing for colds, it is a stomach acid inhibitor and treats Acid Reflux, Gerd or heartburn, has nothing to do with Colds or Flu, You can take Advil for muscle aches due to colds, it is an anti-inflamatory for muscles.
