Can i cut vyvanse in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can i cut vyvanse in half

vyvanse

Avatar m tn My plan is to switch to a med I can take and slowly cut the pills in half and taper off. You can’t cut the concerta since it’s extends release. Please anyone give me an idea on what I should do to get off this.
Avatar m tn About a year and a half ago I started watching anime (kind of dumb but for some reason it makes me happy) and it sort of became a big part of my life. I had been on concerta for nearly a year and though I would talk away too much, I seemed to be doing well. I started feeling tired later in the day and cranky, so I asked my doctor to switch me to Vyvanse and did. Since taking Vyvanse, when I watch anime I can tell that I enjoy the story, but I just don't feel excited.
Avatar f tn I am very happy to see that there are others discussing the matter of half-full capsules. This was the case with my son's script. I discovered this today!! I will continue my investigation. Has anyone had any success resolving this matter?
Avatar m tn THEN the real problem. I awake in absolute terror. I am pretty much completely dysfunctional for at least half an hour to two hours. The Vyvanse generally relieves it when it kicks in. It's as if my mind falls apart when off it. I never wake up happy to face the day, excited, etc., but instead face this same terror each and every morning. If I nap in the day, I will awake with the same reaction AGAIN and, even though Vyvanse is still active, or should be, it's as if it wore off.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Thanks so much for reading - I'm hoping someone who has experience with this might be able to help steer me in the right direction. - First of all, I'm female, 23 years old, 5'3, about 135lbs - I have been prescribed Adderall ir for Adult ADD and treatment resistant depression for about 3 years now. In the beginning, we started with just 5mg - and it did wonders for me! It was like a switch had been turned on, and I could see clearly again.
14995990 tn?1437789661 So i was diagnosed adhd when i was 15, i am 20 now and i have been on adderal, ritalin, and vyvanse. I stopped the meds about a year ago and just recently got prescribed them once again. Im currently taking vyvanse 60mgs every morning because it really worked for me. But ive been experiencing side effect like dizziness, nausea, ive slept once in the past week for 5 hours. Im very confused, i see flashing lights in the corner of my eyes.
Avatar f tn ve tried so many different ADD medications and doses before ending up where I am, I agree that Vyvanse does take a while to kick in. Not everyone is the same, so if Adderall works better for you it's not very shocking.
Avatar m tn I have been on suboxones for about 6 months now before that many years on and off of opiates. I was taking 2 (8mgs) pills a day but I have cut down to a 1/4 of 1 pill in the morning and then another 1/4 in the late afternoon. I've been able to cut down without any major withdrawal symptoms. I want to be completely free of these nasty little pills but I'm so SO scared of the withdrawals that are to come. Can you please help me with some suggestions on what I can do to get through this.
Avatar f tn I take iron and eat as well as I can but really have no appetite. Down 20 pounds in 10 weeks. I was over weight so this isn't a big problem yet.
351317 tn?1204751871 The 10mg zyrtec is too strong for me so can I cut it in half and take 5mg instead?
Avatar n tn YES! I'm a 22 year old male taking 50 mg vyvanse daily. I'm in recovery for alcohol and cocaine abuse. Been sober now for 10 months, and yes it has been difficult not to abuse vyvanse. Addicts think different than most people. We find something we like and all we can think is more more more. What I do is get a friend to hold my vyvanse and give it me as needed. I don't recommend holding on to them yourself!!! Bad idea!!
1218509 tn?1267490923 I started taking Vyvanse two years ago. I am skeptical of putting drugs in my body so I split the dosage in half; 20mg once a day. Within an hour I found myself to be in a much improved control over myself and I was able to concentrate and think clearly. I didn't clinch my teeth hardly at all and my wife shared my mood was substantially more positive and my outlook more optimistic.
Avatar f tn I've had some suggestions to cut the pills in half, but I have capsules, not tablets and they cannot be cut in half. What should I do??
Avatar m tn I take Vyvanse 20mg. I received a new batch from Express Scripts yesterday and they felt different so I started looking at the capsules and they are only half full. I called Express Scripts and they said that it was probably just settling from shipping. But I've never had that happen before. Not sure where to go from here or who to call. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been taking Vyvanse for ADD for a few months. Since taking it I have developed pain associated with bowel movements; hemmorrhoids, pain post bm, blood etc. I checked for side effects for Vyvanse but aside from stomach pain, and diarrhea no other relatable side effects were shown. I was curious if anyone taking this medication or similar type of medication has experience this or been able to manage this issue.
Avatar n tn For what age do most doctors recommend Vyvanse? I have a friend who has a boy younger than 10 years old on Metadate CD. Her doctor suggested that they try Vyvanse. He does ok on Metadate CD but he seems a little zombie like with no emotion and not very social when on Metadate. I believe that it is why the doctor suggested a different med. Thank you for your comment.
Avatar m tn I'm 21, and I've been having chest pains, so I went to the Dr. ended up getting an echocardiogram. It showed that the left ventricle in my heart was dilated (57mm). The Dr. told me to stop drinking, smoking (cigarettes), vyvanse/adderall, and cut back on caffeinated beverages. I'm in college and I've been finding it hard to stop all of these cold turkey, and I'm a bit worried about how much of a concern this condition can be? (Is this considered cardiomyopathy or not?
Avatar m tn m more half--okay, half-dazed. But as I return to consciousness, I can all but begin to feel the ground crack beneath me and it soon feels like the sky is literally falling. The stresses and worries mount to such a pitch I can barely stand it. I am extremely disoriented and uncoordinated during these episodes. I do sleep straight through the night but often only five hours or less. It's rare day I come close to eight. This no doubt plays a big role in the morning attacks.
Avatar f tn Yes, my pill can be split in half. I don't have a pill spliter, so I am wondering if I can use a knife to cut it. I already cut it actually and it split right in half. My pill has a "divit" like a divider already so it cut very easily.
Avatar f tn Popping in a few grapefruit after 6-7 hours of medication will not cause much harm. However, do not go overboard! Grapefruit can hydrolyse lisdexamfetamine in Vyvanse making more of it available. This may result in more harm than good. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
Avatar f tn I take 100 mg a day to maintain. 50 mg in the morning and 50mg at night. I take more if I need to just to cut the feeding to the androgen glands that produce too much oils that cause the cysts. No fancy face washes. Only Aveeno Daily Complexion face pads. Once in the morning and once at night with the wipes. That's it. My cystic acne was so bad I would get cortisone shots in them to shrink them. Over time that didn't do the trick and I was left with only scars.
Avatar f tn The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar m tn no more 10 cups of coffee in the morning, no longer crave or consume ice cream/candy/cookies and alcohol each day, drinking more water has become a habit and I lost 10# in 2 months, I can actually PAY ATTENTION at work ... no more daydreaming during meetings, don't become easily side-tracked .... Why did the chicken cross the road? Oh, look who's on tv.
Avatar n tn m hoping that it will kick in first ( is it within 30 minutes?) and then after it kicks in to give Vyvanse. We are hoping that in a few hours when the effect from Ritalin crashes down the Vyvanse will then have peaked and so that he won't suffer from anxiety that's common from Ritalin since Vyvanse gives a euphoric effect. Anybody has tried these drugs in this order?
1059594 tn?1261323966 Isn't Opana Time Released? I know you're the doctor, but I don't think you should inform people to cut their medications in half, ESPECIALLY if they're time released as this could cause a rapid release of all the medication in turn making her more sick, or am I wrong?
