Can i cut paxil cr in half

Common Questions and Answers about Can i cut paxil cr in half

paxil

Avatar n tn yes-I've always felt pretty good on paxil, although it was the only one I'd tried. I think I actually feel better on the Paxil 20 as compared to the Paxil CR 25, although I don't know why that would be. I've read alot about wieght gain and paxil, but it wasn't a problem for 2 years until now. I've noticed that just my lower belly seems to be pooched out, rather suddenly. SO tht could be a result of the hysterectomy, age, paxil, or Halloween, or all of them.

Avatar m tn Does anyone else have HORRIBLE nausea from taking Paxil CR? I am on 25 mgs. and it is helping greatly with the depression. BUT the nausea is insane. I take it at bedtime with a snack and I am sick for half of the next day. Ginger tea, gingerale, Coke, oatmeal. Totally bland diet. It is one heck of a diet plan. Please help.
Avatar m tn I am starting week #5 of paxil cr (week 1 = paxil cr 12.5, week 2 = paxil cr 25, week 3- current = paxil 37.5) Everywhere I read its just "keep waiting it out. It will get better." My doc wants me to raise to paxil cr 50mg on Monday if I don't start feeling any better. That is double the old dose I was at that worked for so long! It just scares me to keep going up. I recently tried Lexapro and it was a disaster. I just need some positive feedback.
Avatar n tn 5 mg about 5 or 6 months ago. Over the past 6 months I have SLOWLY been reducing my dosage as I feel Paxil CR has not been the right drug for me. I would reduce the dosage about every month and a half. About 1.5 months ago, I reduced my dosage from 12.5 mg to 6 mg. Around this time, I started having EXTREME fatigue and chronic, unbearable nausea. I have had a colonoscopy and endoscopy but both were completely normal. I've had bloodwork done and was not anemic and my thyroid was normal.
Avatar f tn Hi my name is Mike, im 30, and have two beautiful children ( a newborn baby boy and 11 year old daughter). I have been on suboxone for about 2 years now 8mg a day ( half in morning half at night) , and klodipin 1mg once or twice a day. I recently decided enuff is enuff with the suboxone, and decided a couple days ago to ween myself off. My question is: My new doctor just took me off the klodipin's 2 days ago, because I get really bad panic, and anxiety attacks more then 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the detailed answer! I preferred taper down on Paxil but since I'm on the lowest CR dose I knew I couldn't just cut it in half. I called the nurse line at my docs office and she said If I want I can take one every other day for a couple weeks but she wasn't clear on my vcmail as to if I should start lexapro in the meantime or wait til I'm done with paxil?? What do u think? Can I be on both meds at the same time? Or do I quit Paxil first?
Avatar m tn Im confused. I have been on SSRI's (Paxil & Paxil CR) in the past and they worked and I have come off on several occations, but currently I tried to swith to another SSRI which didn't work. Now I have been switched back to Paxil CR and I am currently on a new high of 37.5 milligrams for a week and a half and still don't feel that great. Is it usual to have a set back at every dose increase before it gets better?
Avatar f tn I read alot of horror stories and am just wondering if it has actually helped anyone. You see, I have had panic disorder my whole life. I am 51 now. I was put on Paxil CR a few years ago and I thought it was a miracle drug. Totally got rid of my panic attacks. Still have some anxiety but am menopausal also. Do have a few side effects (ear ringing being main 1 but I thought it was a small price to pay for NO panic attacks. Now all I see is horror stories.
Avatar m tn The doctor thought I may not have enough Paxil in my system so he put me on 25mg Paxil CR twice daily and it made me feel even worse. I felt like I had the flu and very achy. Very bad withdrawal effects. I was then put on regular paxil 40 mg daily and I constantly had the eye zaps and strong depersonalization feelings like I was in a constant withdrawal. I was then switched to Lexapro 20 mg.
Avatar f tn bad dreams throughout the night. WHAT DO I DO??? Should I continue to do every other day...for how long before I can cut back more? This is absolutely miserable... would it be best to quit cold turkey and suffer a week or so?
Avatar f tn Be careful in the mean time...I experienced the same thing when I weaned off Paxil 6 years ago except I also had a feeling "electrical zaps" in my head, difficulty concentrating (resulting in an accident w/ my car and house) and what I can only call "visions" that resembled hallucination-like day dreams. I'm not saying this is going to happen to you-it was just my experience.
Avatar f tn About Me: Female, 53, Jeffersonville - PA, member since Jul 2009 I am a 53 woman with 2 grown daughters (25 &20) and suffer from Depression and Anxiety! I have suffered from this Plague most of my life dating back to a child as I can remember. My Husband is EXTREMELY supportive and helps all he can. I recently changed Med's from Effe ... [More] xor CR 300mg (?) and Wellbutrin CR 300mg to Paxil 30mg and Wellbutrin 300mg.
Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
Avatar m tn When drug companies lose their patents such as in Ambien and Paxil, they change the formulations, such as in CR, and wham, they have the patent again. I think 30 Lorazapam cost me 81 cents and 30 Paxil 40 cents.
Avatar m tn had set in with Paxil CR. I was on Paxil CR 25mg and now it looks like once I get the last bit of Lexapro 5mg out of my system I will probably be bumped up to Paxil CR 37.5. My question is, what constitutes a "poop out"? I hear that term a lot and really don't know what it means. Does that mean that when trying to go up in a dose it still didn't help?
Avatar m tn It took about 3 and a half weeks for my body to adjust to Paxil CR when I first started taking it. Hang in there!
1512520 tn?1290258130 I am going to take just the Topamax for a month or so hoping to drop some of the weight gained then start back on the Paxil CR. I will continue to update as I know there are others out there who are in the same boat! p.s. its quiet expensive if you dont have insurance coverage and from other posts the generic versions arent the same.
Avatar f tn Thanks alot, Linda. I do feel determined and not the least bit close to ever taking another puff. Since I'm not able to work, I was close to chain smoking, too. Outside every flippin' 15mins. By the time I got the last relapse under control a yr ago, I was at only half a pack, thankfully, otherwise, the meter would read twice as high. Wow, now that I look at my numbers compared to yours, you must of been smoking every minute - what a hassle, huh. But now you're free - wheeeeee!!
Avatar f tn I started out taking 20 mg of paxil and ended up on 40 mg of paxil CR. All together, I took paxil for 6 years. I decided to stop taking it because it kept me from concentrating and memorizing which is vital since I am in college to be a school teacher. In addition, I gained so much weight due to the medicine. My doctor helped me get off of the paxil which was a horrible experience that I never want to repeat again! Now my anxiety has come back and it is becoming worse.
Avatar n tn I have been taking 37.5 mg/day of Paxil CR for several years and because my panic attacks were interfering with my ability to work, my medical doctor and psychologist suggested that I switch to 50 mg/day of Zoloft. I am now on day 5 of Zoloft and can NOT stop crying. I'm also dizzy and nauseaous. I feel like I'm losing my mind and want to know if this is "normal" during transitioning from one SSRI to another and if so, WHEN WILL THIS END?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much! I have my meds now just didn't understand why didn't get that sooner as it's been a few months since i dosed down.
Avatar f tn I started the end of February and recently went from 12.5 CR to 25 CR. I am 55 post menopause. In 2003 I had a biopsy that came back negative for microcalcifications. All mammograms since have been negative. Of course being a worry wart I researched Paxil online and read some articles linking prolactin increasing from some SSRIS specifically Paxil to increase a Breast Cancer risk. The Paxil is working for me after all of these years of feeling out of sorts.
Avatar f tn After about 2 years my husband and I had come a long way in resoving our issues and I felt I probably could stop the Paxil. Yea, right! I knew not to stop cold turkey so I just cut it in half at first. Within a couple of days I felt horrid! I got these weird brain snapping sensations, vomiting, couldn't sleep, and was extremely irritable. Went back to 10 mgs and within a few hours was fine. Got no help from the Dr.
730044 tn?1231438020 the depression i feel from gaining so much weight or the reasons i started taking paxil in the first place. once i am off of paxil i will never tak it again. i am weening myself slowly.
